Trying to watch all of and find the best of the Disney tribute videos is exhausting. I've literally been at it for hours. Too many legit looking related videos, it never stops!!!
the rescurers down under should not be part of the renesanssance. its not as good. disney should have released that in 1989 and little mermaid in 1990 because the rescurers down under feels like a disney dvd sequel
Brilliant !!! I think you choosed your clips well, and manage to show the soul of each film, making a beautiful story filled with drama, adventure and emotions.
I have also made a dinsey renaissance tribute. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Cheers...
This was so beautiful. It was so beautiful, that from the comments, calling it beautiful would be repeating what everyone else was saying. You did a great job; so many Disney characters get hurt and scared so badly... they aren't the mere happy, funny cartoons that most people remember them as. It's like the obligatory happy ending is a net for them, something that they deserve, not a cliche. Sorry, I'm having trouble finding the words...
I saw all of those movies when I was a kid~ 83 I haven't seen the shorts, though, but they look interesting~ I always loved Disney movies~ The ones now a days don't really have the same impact as they did back then...Thank you so much for making this amazing video and reminding me of the good old days~ 83
(Continued) - John Lasseter and his animators at Disney has done their part, we should do ours for their gratitude. And Doomimus, the one who created this video, yeah, this video should not only be a reminder of the past that was once our era. It's up to us to give the next gen. that they deserve. We're in the second renaissance right now (I feel we are) and we must not blow this opportunity for 2D to be great again. So go for it. Disney's is waiting for our respond for the new Pooh film.
Greetings again, as I've done promoting The Princess and the Frog, I'm now here, once again, telling everyone from the renaissance generation (and the before) that it is safe to say that the new Winnie the Pooh has 91% status from RT. I haven't seen it yet, I'm planning to. I'm not stand by to let hand-drawn die again; I'm not letting Disney find another excuse to rid off the hand-drawn bussiness. We'll have to push them to understand our love for it still. So, go and support Pooh bear.
@megandabalm those were walt disney classics. these were known as the Disney Renaissance era where disney finally were making classic tales again. late 80s to late 90s.
with all due respect to the classics (yeah, I grew up watching Beauty and the Beast) I actually like Tangled, it definatly brought back Disney and showed that they aren't full of crap, they still have magic :) but really, GET RID OF HANNAH MONTANA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!
this video NEVER gets boring, watched it now , last year, and the year before that. it brings every kind of great emotion to my self-being. We love you Disney Renaissance 1989 - 1999. Props to the person who made it.
I wish I was the head of Disney. I could finally say NO with great satisfaction to a revival of Hannah Montana, and yes, with even more satisfaction, to more hand drawn animation! :)
I'd just like to say again, this is a great video. I can't stop watching it. The timing is really good with the song. My favorite part is when Simba and Nala are playing around. That is spectacular. You are truly a brilliant person to have done something this amazing. I envy your brightness. I've shown it to all of my friends and they liked it. Hope you make more videos soon! it's so great. ;)
I sort of agree. My view on it is that it is true that the Disney Renaissance did not have an exact stopping point, but disney did change dramatically the productions that have been made by the start of the 21st century, so that was considered as a stopping point; HOWEVER, it does not mean it is the end of great classics to come. So i agree with you, if those movies I had mentioned did give you do feel as though if it were a renaissance movie. This was a nice chat.

I'd just like to say some things. The Little Matchgirl, since you've made a comment on the inclusion of that movie, i will not bring that up from now on. But Fantasia and Atlantis: The Lost Empire are not part of the Disney Rennesiance. The Rescuerers Down Under, even though in the time period, is not part of it neither. ON another note, great video. Goes so well with the song. Kudos!!!
@Rich2B181 I took some creative liberties on purpose. The reason I chose clips from the movies you mentioned was because, for me, they have moments that invoke the same feelings of wonder and grandeur that the movies from the Renaissance did. As with the Renaissance period of human history in general, the Disney Renaissance didn't stop at a single point so much as it trailed off gradually. At least, that's my take on it.

I know everyone here is a lover of the old Disney, but I think some of you need to look up what the Disney Renaissance actually is. Some movies don't count for it. Look it up on wikipedia.
I do feel bad for today's youth. While our Disney was The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Hercules etc., they get Hannah Montana, Sonny With a Chance, and Wizards of Waverly Place. How horrible.
@vegetaouji333 while it is horrible how far disney has fallen u really cant compare movies feature films like lion king to television shows like hannah montanna
Great editing job. I was only disappointed not to see The Rescuers Bernard and Bianca in there too; I kinda thought that was the greatest love story Disney have ever done. :-)
3D animation has become so dominant. Animators need to realize that they can still do cartoon movies. It's what everybody wants from Disney right now.
i think all hand drawn disney animations ended at treasure planet yet treasure planet had a little 3d effect, but when the princes and the frog came i felt so full of joy, the princes and the frog is a great movie but for me the Treasure Planet is the best of all disney animation
And also Nickelodeon was at its best during this same stretch. And they just don't make ballads like the Celine Dion one anymore. I think Faith Hill's There Will Be and Kelly Clarkson's A Moment Like This were some of the last real ballads, released in the early 00s. Also, have you noticed every other story in the news seems to be tech-related, whether it involves phones, Twitter, Facebook? I could remember in 1997 when someone missed the 70s due to simpless, now I feel the same about the 90s!
Fantasia, Atlantis, and Treasure Planet (2002) are all what I consider "fringe era", they are sort of the "maybe-maybe not" part of the Renaissance. Thanks a lot Dreamworks! Toy Story, Shrek, and Finding Nemo are what I consider the current generation that doesn't fit in. Although The Princess and the Frog was a welcome old-school release last year. I also miss the music from the '90s and earlier as well.
@pannoni1 toy story would probably fit in it was made in 95 and it has that classic disney feel to it but shrek wouldnt fit in at all considering that its not even disney
this makes me feel sad and old for a reason. Geeze im only 22 and feels this kind of Disney was so long ago. Ugh, my main dream is become CEO of Disney and do a big makeover
i was a 90s kid and this time of Disney movies were absolutely magical and felt like Walt Disney never died i loved the 90s so much the best time for children and adults now the media and film industry is corrupt and caught in budgets i miss this time and hope my children can experience a second Renaissance i will show my kids these movies and let them live what i lived
The last of the Disney Renaissance films was Fantasia 2000 in my book. Some say tarzan was but Fantasia 2000 was animated in 99 and released in Late 99 early 2000 so it still counts
ITs all coming back to me now!! The old disney!! :) This made me cry.. These movies made my childhood. O agree with wickedlyunique. All the crap shows and movies today dint compare with these AMAZING movies. Nice job
I love how you used the clips to really highlight the song's message and take us through the understated parts and the dramatic outbursts. Very thrilling.
This video is amazing! Thanks for this! The true Disney Renaissance (1989-1999) featured some the most visually stunning pieces, most breathtaking soundtracks and most engaging stories of all time. My personal favorites are The Lion King and Pocahontas for those reasons.
I prefer Hand-Drawn animation MUCH MORE than Computer animation. I think that Computer animation should only help Drawn animation (like the Stampede scene in Lion King, Deep Canvas in Tarzan etc.)
This was amazing. And I really have to give credit to Roy E. Disney for fighting to keep 2D alive and bringing it back in the form of Enchanted (even if 1/4 of it was animated) and The Princess and the Frog.
I'm hopeful for Disney's next movies. 2D will never die anyway (I began watching japanese 2D animated movies *Ghibli movies for example* and series after getting tired of Disney... so I was kinda surprised when I heard that Disney thought that 2D was old stuff/dead... I was like : "Really !? Since when ?")... and 2D and 3D can be used together too.
I just wished that Disney did more mature/serious/meaningful movies. I know they want kids to watch them, but still...
@RadicalDreamer17 Indeed. Btw, I prefer Hand-Drawn animation MUCH MORE than Computer animation. I think that Computer animation should only help Drawn animation (like the Stampede scene in Lion King, Deep Canvas in Tarzan etc.)
And yeah, Disney should do animations for ALL audiences, not only for Kids.
@OurGangFan Thanks. The best way for that to happen would be that someone who hates disney right now would buy it and make every thing write. But all i wand is disney to make all the old shows come back and get rid of hanna montana. and make movies based off other stroies again. was the prinsses and the frog good?
The Princess & The Frog was good. I do wish Disney would bring back Vault Disney. On Wikipedia it was discontinued primarily to contribute to the network's new "hip" image. They outta make Vault Disney a channel like they did with Toon Disney.
Guys below, uhm. I'm. pretty sure you have to draw out all the concept art, the storyboards, and a lot of the animation first before you map it out into CGI. So to say that they don't hand draw things anymore is a lie, that's just not the final product. I prefer traditional animation myself, I just thought I'd point that out.
Even tho it focuses on Disney Renaissance, there are a few clips from movies that are not part of the renaissance. But it is still a very super awesome video. :)
Very nice. I'm afraid the so-called Disney Renaissance is over, and Disney knows it (hence tributes like On the Record and Enchanted,) but right now we're in the middle of what might be called the Dreamworks/Pixar Era. Maybe a tribute to those films is in order?
sorry but dreamworks sucks and pixars only crown jewl is toy story 1+2 there other movies are average at best i dont really like cgi animation hand drawn is better like them going back to it with the princess and the frog its like the animators are to lazy to draw with there hands and all movie going public care about is computer animation nothing can top aladdin the lion king and classics like those my opinion of course.
@BigBossLegacy There ARE some gorgeous CGI movies (Wall-E) but it's so incredibly easy to go cheapo and still make lots of money off of them...hand-drawn movies have to be done meticulously or mistakes stand out A LOT. But when well-done, they seriously do top CGI ten-fold.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Very nice video. I'm glad that Fantasia 2000 and Atlantis were included and the cartoon shorts. I know the Disney Renaissance officially ended with Tarzan, but for me personally it ended with Lilo & Stitch. The Emperor's New Groove still makes me LMAO.Atlantis was cool because it was like sci-fi adventure. Lilo & Stitch was just plain cute. For favorites it's usually a tie between Beauty & The Beast or Lion King. For me my favorite is Aladdin!
people say that the disney renaissance ended and hand drawn animation has died...........
They were wrong....
Once the Princess and The frog is released worldwide we should hope that disney will bring back a second Disney Renaissance... If walt disney were alive right now, he would look at the times we lived in now and look at the princess and the frog movie and say "It's about time"
@bladewolf39 Indeed! And I prefer Hand-Drawn animation MUCH MORE than Computer animation. I think that Computer animation should only help Drawn animation (like the Stampede scene in Lion King, Deep Canvas in Tarzan etc.)
@bladewolf39 i completely agree, unfortunately, they are now finished making "princess/fairy tale" movies so they can move on to something that can "attract" a wider audience, a little "teenish"... :(
This is it Disney fans. As of now, starting tomorrow on NY and LA, Disney's Princess and the Frog will have limited release for the fans to support.
When it's release worldwide on Dec. 11, it's time for Disney to see it will be as great as the films from Walt's and renaissance's era that we love so much and feel those nostalgia memories that we nourished from them to enter the Second Disney Renaissance.
C'mon Disney fans, unite and bring back 2D animation. I think Walt would want that.....
This would make an excellent trailer of that shows the beauty and amazing quality that is walt disney. I would by a DVD just to watch this as a trailer!
Excellent job, though there was a bit in the middle that I felt lagged a bit, but then the end picked up and left me with a great feeling. Beautiful job.
Even some of the movies after this era were pretty good for awhile, though idffrent, I loved treasure planet! and brother bear and lilo/stich. I mean the rating sucked for them but I thought they were awesome
i <3 Disney! i only recently discovered that there was actually a name for this group of movies that i have always loved. great job on the video! i actually got goosebumps. hehe.
That was just simply amazing! The Disney Renaissance truly was the era of Disney. It totally ruled growing up during that era ... well the 90s more specifically. I kinda feel bad for the youth of today - their media doesn't even seem to compare to what we got.
I love the animated features from Disney, not including the latest CGI films they did since Chicken Little! They are over-rated and Pixar does the best CGI films ever! The Renaissance period is Disney at it's most best! It's like watching the MGM musicals like The Wizard Of Oz, Meet Me In St. Louis, An American In Paris, Singin' In The Rain, and GIgi!
I agree with nicicool, great editing! But i think that the disney renaissance ended with Tarzan (1989-1999). During that 10 years Disney really did shine in the film industry. I really hope with the upcoming films like Rapunzel that Disney can regenerate themselves once again.
Fantastic editing! I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the song, but your timing with the music was wonderful.
Great tribute to some of Disney's finest. Hopefully the new era (did I hear someone call it "The Enlightenment? I like!) will give us more classics such as these.
Fantasia 2000:Dont know dont care Dinosaur:Simply sucks Emperor's new groove:Hilarious, love it Atlantis the lost empire:Very good drawing, but stupid story Lilo & stitch:Cute, worth watching Treasure planet:Not quite good, not bad though Brother bear:very good movie Home on he range:stupid movie Chicken little:Stupid movie Meet the robinsons:good movie Bolt:love it The princess and the frog:Hope will be good Rapunzel:veru potential
Doomimus, I must say this video is really good. It really got me back into (old)Disney, before seeing I was still in the "Disney is for kids" phase (you know, teenage thing) and the imfamous sublimial craze didn't help either. But your video helped me appreciate old Disney again, not a frantic obsession like a child, but the a respectful apprecition of an young adult. They're cool because of the hard work and the culture mirrored from the start of Snow White. Bravo!
I was born in 1990 and I remember all of these movies as a kid! Ahhh- alas- the good days! I love all these disney movies and more, but I must say Beauty and the Beast was by far my favorite! I have all these movies and their soundtracks! I must say that the music in these Disney classics really inspired me to want to compose music- Long live Disney!! Thank you- beautiful video, very inspiring!
Wow, the Rescuers Down Under surprized me. I'd forgotten...
I completely agree with you. It's high time Disney pulls it's socks up and starts to make meaningful, epic animations again, which we love as children and adore as adults, and then remember fondly for the rest of our lives.
I wish I would have appreciated the world more growing up as a child. I guess I just though it'd always be that way.
It was so cool to be a child during the disney renaissance! And in the 90s period. A peak in great popular music, no war in Iraq, a great economy, world respect. Man, those were good times.
man...... what happened to disney? im sick of all the second rate live action film and half-baked sequels. pixar is the only source of good they have anymore. go back to your roots! makes it the disney baroque era or something! we're in the dark ages now....
Trying to watch all of and find the best of the Disney tribute videos is exhausting. I've literally been at it for hours. Too many legit looking related videos, it never stops!!!

There were a some 2D animation successful Disney films in the 2000s after Tarzan and before Princess & the Frog
Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch and Brother Bear
those were good maybe they wont be remember as much but the last two are bit classics
90s Disney films are the best (and also huge achievements like box office success and awards since they were really good!)

The last of the Disney Renaissance films was Fantasia 2000 in my book. Some say tarzan was but Fantasia 2000 was animated in 99 and released in Late 99 early 2000 so it still counts

Excellent video. :)
darthvalor07 1 year ago

OurGangFan 1 year ago
@OurGangFan Thanks. The best way for that to happen would be that someone who hates disney right now would buy it and make every thing write. But all i wand is disney to make all the old shows come back and get rid of hanna montana. and make movies based off other stroies again. was the prinsses and the frog good?
Familyguystewie88 1 year ago
The Princess & The Frog was good. I do wish Disney would bring back Vault Disney. On Wikipedia it was discontinued primarily to contribute to the network's new "hip" image. They outta make Vault Disney a channel like they did with Toon Disney.
OurGangFan 1 year ago
@Familyguystewie88 The Princess and the Frog was more than good. It was the best Disney movie in AGES! :)
In fact, it can remind one of why Disney's animated movies were so special.

JemsMovies 1 year ago
Guys below, uhm. I'm. pretty sure you have to draw out all the concept art, the storyboards, and a lot of the animation first before you map it out into CGI. So to say that they don't hand draw things anymore is a lie, that's just not the final product. I prefer traditional animation myself, I just thought I'd point that out.

Very nice. I'm afraid the so-called Disney Renaissance is over, and Disney knows it (hence tributes like On the Record and Enchanted,) but right now we're in the middle of what might be called the Dreamworks/Pixar Era. Maybe a tribute to those films is in order?
rhinobaby 2 years ago 2
sorry but dreamworks sucks and pixars only crown jewl is toy story 1+2 there other movies are average at best i dont really like cgi animation hand drawn is better like them going back to it with the princess and the frog its like the animators are to lazy to draw with there hands and all movie going public care about is computer animation nothing can top aladdin the lion king and classics like those my opinion of course.
BigBossLegacy 2 years ago

They were wrong....
Once the Princess and The frog is released worldwide we should hope that disney will bring back a second Disney Renaissance... If walt disney were alive right now, he would look at the times we lived in now and look at the princess and the frog movie and say "It's about time"

That was just simply amazing! The Disney Renaissance truly was the era of Disney. It totally ruled growing up during that era ... well the 90s more specifically. I kinda feel bad for the youth of today - their media doesn't even seem to compare to what we got.

@wickedlyunique Yeah We were lucky growing up in the 90's. Things were better than not just the animation.

Incredibly good video, very very very good.

I agree with nicicool, great editing! But i think that the disney renaissance ended with Tarzan (1989-1999). During that 10 years Disney really did shine in the film industry. I really hope with the upcoming films like Rapunzel that Disney can regenerate themselves once again.
phantom12345matt 2 years ago 3
Thanks!
Meh, I think there's some overlap there. I really felt some of it in the shorts "One by One" and "The Little Match Girl."
Disney Enlightenment FTW!
Doomimus 2 years ago
Fantastic editing! I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the song, but your timing with the music was wonderful.
Great tribute to some of Disney's finest. Hopefully the new era (did I hear someone call it "The Enlightenment? I like!) will give us more classics such as these.

Hee hee... yes, the Enlightenment. Maybe the Age of Revolution could follow.

Hmm... I like your title for the new age of Disney.
The Enlightenment:

Rapunzel (2010)
King of the Elves (2012)
The Snow Queen (rumored)
The Wizard of Oz (rumored)

Beauty and the beast:Love it so much
Aladdin:10/10.Genie rocks.A whole new world is one of the best song ever.
Lion king: Nothing more than just an everlasting masterpiece
Pocahontas:Boring
The hunchback of Notre dame:Hellfire rocks, the rest sucks.
Hercules:Hades and Go the distance are only 2 reasons to watch it.
Mulan:very good movie.
Tarzan:Amazing movie,love it.
DUNGSI27 2 years ago
Doomimus, I must say this video is really good. It really got me back into (old)Disney, before seeing I was still in the "Disney is for kids" phase (you know, teenage thing) and the imfamous sublimial craze didn't help either. But your video helped me appreciate old Disney again, not a frantic obsession like a child, but the a respectful apprecition of an young adult. They're cool because of the hard work and the culture mirrored from the start of Snow White. Bravo!

It was so cool to be a child during the disney renaissance! And in the 90s period. A peak in great popular music, no war in Iraq, a great economy, world respect. Man, those were good times.
socrates09876 2 years ago 7
man...... what happened to disney? im sick of all the second rate live action film and half-baked sequels. pixar is the only source of good they have anymore. go back to your roots! makes it the disney baroque era or something! we're in the dark ages now....
padouke 2 years ago 2
Or a Disney Age of Enlightenment. That'd be pretty cool. =D
Doomimus 2 years ago
Wow. Though, I have to admit, I think adding the clips from the shorts ruined it just a tad, this video is far beyond amazing.
I grew up with these movies (sans Atlantis and Fantasia, because by then, I was in that 'Disney isn't cool' stage)
And the song has alot of meaning to me too since I used to love it (and the music video) when I was little.
Too bad kids have to look up to Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens and actors like that. Poor Disney is in a slump.
