  • hahaha 7:22

  • i grew up with "the ripper" in akron,ohio....he's 1 of the best metal singers of all time in my book.alot of people want 2 talk shit saying"he's no rob halford" and theyre right-he's not tryin 2 be,get in your car and go 2 "the rippers taphouse"-a bar in akron,ohio...when he's in town he jams there 4 his friends, family, and his fans.he's humble, personable, and an all around cool ass dude.tim "the ripper" owens is "heavy metal"

  • Ripper Owens is to music like Rocky is to Boxing!

  • GREAT SINGER, 2 ALBUMS WITH HIM IN PRIEST ARE AWESOME !!!!!!

  • great video. this guy has an amazing voice. i have jugulator on cd, good album. any of you lot wish you could sing this well.

  • Tim's God! I want him back in Priest! He's a great musician.

    Watch 7:23 " ......... plus Tim ain't gay"

  • If Tim can sing British Steel in standard 440 E tuning, then he can in Judas Priest. That D tuned crap ruined the classic sound!

  • @ZackT618 i thing is because they wanted to sound more brutal its sound different (:

  • What a great story, I mean who would ever think that could happen? Sure he's not Rob...but so what, who is?

  • 5:51 absolutely ridiculous note right there

  • At 3:08, where they show Halford singing Riding on the Wind it's from the album, because he didn't sing it that high on the Live in Memphis show.

  • Ripper is a cool dude. But he is not Rob. Ripper is perfect though for Charred Walls.

  • my mom went to school with him xD

  • Tim raped Priest! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

  • Tim Owens is a great singer. It's a shame that he'll be forever known as "the replacement singer" for not only Priest, but a myriad of other bands. He has an outstanding voice and deserves an indefinate position in a heavy metal band.

I just wish people would stop compaing him to Halford, just like people compare Ozzy to Dio. Ripper is a great singer in his own right.

  • @Highlander01 You are totally & fucking right dude, Tim no needs that fucking "Ripper "name"" to show what he can do, and I LOVE JUDAS, but we have to be honestly... u r right,,..

  • I liked him better with Iced Earth

  • oh my GOD what a high note 6:08

  • The movie 'Rock Star' was based on the Tim Owens/Judas Priest scenario.

  • @justentime77 That's the vibe I'm picking up haha I was about to ask about that.

  • @justentime77 damn i never knew that

  • Man In the box!

  • I don't care what people say, Ripper Owens is a kick ass singer! He may not be the real Rob Halford, but he is fucking great

  • Anyone notice that loser who goes "Tim ain't gay" looks like Vlad the Impaler?

  • Comment removed

  • winter's bane album is better than most judass albums.

  • Wow owens dreams came true, what an asshole...

we have to dee tto the future Halford got old and tim is now 43 and still got a better voice than halford.

but i think the hard guitar fits better to tims raw voice.

face the truth: TIM OWENS KICKS ASS MADAFUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rob Halford is the Frank Sinatra of the Metal, I don´t care If he is Gay He is the Real Metal God not This Poser A.K.A Tim "Rippmypants" owens...yipee kay yay motherfuckers !!!.

  • @kingcoapa Owens a poser? Are you on crack or something? I bet you don't even know what "poser" really means.

  • 5 Imbeciles do not like Tim Ripper ... Too bad ... should not assume anything Heavy Metal.

  • "Plus Tim ain't gay!"

    Lol'd so hard.

  • What a truly amazing life he has lead. Tim is a brillaint sinnger and I liked him all the way. He kicks ass and hold no punches. He is so cool!!

  • I had no idea before that the movie Rock Star with MArk Wahlberg was based on Tim's experience

  • 6:08 = instant boner.

god DAMN what a note. I'd for sure hire him for my band. we just need to get him to audition for us

  • Anyone notice that douchebag who said "Tim ain't gay" looks like Vlad the Impaler?

  • why the hell is his roomate absessed with his chest lol

  • @dokken447 Lol, that was a weird comment haha.

  • @TheHeavyMetald00d it sure was

  • I don't like this video and the film rock star. This is an insult to Halford, and now he is the leader of Judas Priest, AGAIN OK?

  • @chaunavegante

It's far from an insult and Halford likes and respects Rippers work with Priest and Ripper as a singer in his other work. Plus he's not gay.......lol

  • @The61769 I don't care if this man is gay or not, I only care his work. his work is better than ripper. facts: ripper: the two worst albums from judas priest (jugulator and demolition) a little iced earth... Halford: 40 years making good music YOU said: "Plus he's not gay.......lol". I think that the fascist homophobes like you are gays. OK TEEN?
  • @chaunavegante

    you're gay

  • @chaunavegante You can't blame Tim for Jugulator and Demolition, he wasn't involved in the songwriting. You gotta admit the vocals on both albums are pretty fucking awesome. I like Halfords work in Judas Priest a lot more too but I still think Ripper is a better singer.

  • @Pitaneko Halford is Judas Priest but.. Tim?, Who is tim? A great singer? ok but he is a subtitute also (his career is poor). now Halford is much older but If you put Tim in the era of screaming of vengeance Halford is more better singer.

  • @chaunavegante ok I see your point :)

  • @chaunavegante haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

don´t get me wrong..... halford is the metal god, the father and all that..... but is like balckmore and malmsteen.... malmsteen is far beyond him!...... halford never could sing painkiller well done.... or victim of changes....

  • Hey, what is the name of the song @1:50?

  • @zavieri That would be "Wages Of Sin", by Winter's Bane.

  • rock star the movie...........

  • rIIPPEERRRR

  • so robs gay so fucking whatttttttttttt dick he is the metal god get over it

  • Love this vid, now I'm going to watch Rockstar!

  • Mom in the front row, That is sooo kool. Dreams really do happen :-) We love ya Timmy.

  • lol how spinal tap does kk look

  • my respect for tis man he is my fav singer and will be long live and voice to mister tim owens i hope someday back to iced earth

  • Instant Hard-on at 6:07

god damn that high note is awesome

  • What a success story! I love that guys voice. Not many people can hit those notes like he does. A true 1% of all metal singers. "Plus he aint gay!!!!"

  • what ever happend to hot 80-90's hot chicks

  • @brucekirk89 ...yeah i know...those women that when you were little you thought ''when i grow up i want that''

  • he's great performing judas priest old songs live.

  • "Plus Tim aint gay!" - Funny comment.

In all seriousness though, Rob Halford was a awesome front man, regardless of his Sexual Persuasions. A bit of flamboyance makes for a good frontman, perfect example of that is Freddie Mercury.

  • "Plus, Tim ain't gay!" - Bigotry is ignorance and human indifference at it's darkest level and ultimately destructive to the progression of our human race. That is truly a pathetic and ignorant comment that was put/left in the video. I'd be very interested to know who's decision it was. Rob Halfords amazing vocal talent and revolutionary Metal performances and contributions to Metal are undoubtedly, to this day, legendary. Tim's were amazing as well & that's all it should've been about. ROCK ON!

  • FANTASTIC STORY....WHAT A DREAM...

    Thanks Judas Priest!

  • hahaha! "plus tim ain't gay" those two guys look like jason lee.

  • he is the through instrument of heavy metal!

  • haha i seen an interview where scott travis said he had a "friend" who knew tim owens, the lying bastard. i bet he was nailin that chick.

  • lotto winner!!!!!

  • haha, i lol'd when the dude mentioned Van Halen at the end xD

  • Tim's sister-in law is hot!

  • hey man awesome shit upping this. anyone else like me love to see these gems arise from history?

    thanks man

  • Tim is my inspiration! One of his more recent bands, Beyond Fear, is totally amazing! Every fan of metal should look up the song "Scream Machine"! You have not lived until you have heard it ( yes it is ripper )

  • he did a damn good job with iced earth, and hes doing a damn good job with yngwie

  • related video was filmed the same night, same place youtube com/user/WilbePat?feature=mhw5

  • i wanna know what that song is at 1:50 its awesome

  • "Plus Tim's not gay!"

    Seriously, what the FUCK!?!

  • @ZachValkyrie i actually lolled when he said that. that guy saying that with that moustache? hahaahhaa

  • @ZachValkyrie IMHO they should've edited that bit out; while technically true it is totally irrelevant.

Also Rob Halford returned (kind of sad for Tim, especially considering the same thing happened to him with Iced Earth....great singer, but apparently also a good way to get your original singer back....)

  • @ZachValkyrie AFAIK technically true, but also totally irrelevant.

The fact that Rob Halford is gay isn't news to anyone who cares about the band. What do these people want

  • @ZachValkyrie haha

  • @ZachValkyrie But Tim's Hero and Idol is GAY!!

  • @ZachValkyrie Lol... that's not cool... Rob Halford rules, with all the respect to tim he ain't no rob halford

  • whats the song at 3:36

  • Tim is a great story. Period.. Just like Scott Travis. Scott grew up with a old band mate of mine.. I found out later we were all connected. Just a cool story period..... Tim is an awesome singer.. you can not deny that that. I never saw him myself in VB but heard that he was good...better than 98% of the jerks that think they can sing JP... me being one of them....

  • fuck!! yeahh!! this man is the expample that the dreams come true!!! yeah!!

  • Ripper's live performances were far from being perfect. But studio albums we kickin' ass. Rob with "Judas Is Rising" and "Nostradamus" gave no value to Judas Priest. He should have stayed with Halford project!

  • I don't know why people keep comparing Tim Owens version of painkiller now at his twenties or early thirties (not sure how old he is) to Rob's version now when he is older, I thnk a fair comparison would be Rob's version of the song when that song came out in the early nineties, when Rob was closer to Tim's age now, I think Rob sang the song a lot better than Tim, back on those days, and don't get me wrong, I love Tim's singing, he is phenomenal

  • "Plus Tim ain't gay!!"

That's the most awesome, redneck-ish comment ever.

  • Rippers fans from home made their comments, one said hemay be better (ok, future would tell) That dudes buddy said "Plus Tim isn't gay" Well, ya know what? Gay or not, Rob is STILL THE BEST FOR JUDAS PRIEST "EVER"!!!!

  • @yucchhiiowwee When does being gay matter when you sing like Rob. In Judas Priest.

  • That's what I'm saying. Plus, being gay is NOT MY problem. That's between him and God. I'm not here to judge him. That's NOT MY job. That's Gods job. We all judge people whether we realize it or not. I TRY to catch myself and try NOT to do that. I've always loved Rob and Judas Priest. I happen to know Scott Travis, not REAL well, but I know him and Scott is from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I lived there for 12 years and met him only 99 million times. Well, keep banging your head bro.

  • I imagine that people would say the same thing if Rob was the one who was replacing Tim. Sorry, but TWO was the best thing Halford ever did.

  • If TWO is your favorite band with Rob, that's fine, I respect that. I never really got into TWO. I liked "FIGHT" and "HALFORD"

  • Oh, come on. His live performance of Painkiller is just pathetic.

  • Ripper holds NO candle to ROB! If Rob sucked on painkiller, then Tim wouldn't even make it to THAT grade! Rob is the original and will be NO ONE to do better. Gay or NO gay!

  • Compare ANY live performance of Rob to any live performance of Ripper.

Seriously, Rob's Painkiller is laughably bad.

  • Hey, I respect your opinion, I really do. However, that's just me. That's how I feel. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to downgrade ripper, I just appreaciate the original more, that's all. several years ago, a few friends & I went to see priest with Queensriech opening. Geoff Tate's vocals aren't what they used to be, while Robs still kicks up there, and Rob is older than Geoff.

  • agreed. it's sad.

  • Comment removed

  • You know what...... I saw blaze with Maiden play in a 1000 seat venue on the X Factor tour and they couldn't even sell it out. We left after Fear Factory and hearing Blaze butcher the shit out of Wrathchild. Granted, there are far worse cds than X Factor but it doesn't get much worse than the Angel and the Gambler.

  • Dreams do come true, but alas all dreams do come to an end. It's too bad he really is an amazing singer, Bullet Train is his best song. good luck to him.

  • Dreams do come true. If you're a kickass singer who can completely tear apart any and every song on earth.

  • 00:43 he looks like tom brady with a rounder face

  • "Plus, he's not gay"

    hahahahaaha!!!!!

    that made me giggle

  • wow i remember this episode of mtv news when it originally aired! thanks for uploading =)

  • he was the shit with priest but i will miss the iced earth stuff more

  • Does anyone know why he left Priest?

  • because halford came back right before angel of retribution was released, and tim went to iced earth and rulded matt barlows ass

  • @ghostriderjoemomma

    Oh, thanks for the info.

  • Tim didn't leave Priest, he is an untalented leech who has been fired from two bands after they released he was nothing but voice.

He cannot write lyrics, have you heard What's My Name? Embarassing.

  • wrong.

  • Actually, it's called opinion, therefore statements like right and wrong do not apply.

  • Actually, kid, you stated REASONS for him being released from those bands, and both reasons were wrong. Tim was released from both bands because they reunited with their original vocalists. Your opinions may be yours to have, but stating fact as opinion and doing so in an insulting manner on a fan video makes you a troll. And by the way, Tim has an impressive following with both bands.

  • Ah, more abuse of the word troll. It doesn't surprise me, people of a low mental capacity with often revert to child insults to get their point across.

Yes, both groups reunited with their former vocalists because Owens was a failure in both. Impressive following!?! Are you on cocaine? Priest fans for the most part rejected him and Iced Earth fans despised his very presence.

Opinions are always relative, but the general concensus is he was a failure at bringing life to both bands.

  • Even Blaze Bayley had a following with Maiden. Priest fans did not reject Owens, they rejected the heavier sound. And Iced Earth fans remain divided into two camps. While Barlow DOES have the larger fan base, Ripper does retain his fans. Now, the word troll was not abused. you are someone who came to a fan video to insult its subject in a forum comprised mainly of said fans. That, in its very essence, makes you a troll.

  • The idea that posting negative comments on fan videos is trolling is common, but incorrect.

Jugulator and Demolition were ruined by Priests attemps to go for a more mallcore metal sound. Ripper wrote nothing on either, besides the embarassing Whats My Name?, which thankfully didn't make it onto the album. Priest didn't just lose a vocalist, they lost a songwriter.

And by the way, I am a Blaze fan, who is actually a great songwriter and not just a worthless cookie cutter tribute singer.

  • I never said Ripper wrote anything, and you agreed with me about Demolition and Jugulator (though the words were different). So, seems like this circle is closed. Thanks for the argument :) Was fun. And I mean that.

  • The reason I stated he did not write anything was in reference to when I posted about him being worthless to the bands themselves. If Ripper was actually doing something other than singing, if he was actually contributing, he may have been considered less expendable.

  • actually numb nuts your opinion dont mean shit and your a troll not to mention you wouldnt know talent if it bit you in your ass, jugulator or demolition were great albums and the reason they were great was tims power

  • Until you can define words such as troll, don't use them.

Tim's power? Let's see, he wrote NOTHING on either album, his screams were just an imitation of Halford's, and his gutteral singing was nu-inspired and pathetic.

No, your opinion don't mean shit.

  • Hahahah you don't know much about music, do you?

Ripper is technically superior to Halford, whether you like or not.

  • You are stating opinion as if it's fact, which is ridiculous and makes you look like the moron you are.

How do you define 'technically superior'? I never denied he was a decent vocalist, nothing special, but still adequate. However, he could not replace Rob in Priest because HE CAN'T WRITE MUSIC. Therefore, Priest lost a singer and a songwriter.

I wasn't even comparing the two, but I will say that although less talented, Ripper probably has more personal integrity than Rob.

  • @ShadowOfTheWave dude, dont hate because i blast man loads on your mom's face, we all know you think your balls have dropped and you think you know a little sumthin about metal, but it is apperant you are a complete dumbass, tim may not be halford but he still rocks

  • Tim has got to be the most powerful singer in the whole world,,not bruce , not rob, not a man can come close to him,, Geoff n Kiske are up there with him,, but man what a hell of a voice,,,,just incredible,,

  • I was lucky enough to see many of Tim's shows when he was in the band "Seattle". Nice guy and very talented.

  • @vistastanggt

You saw Tim live back in the days? Lucky, I believe he is a very talented guy.

  • yep, got to talk to him at one of his shows right after it was announced he was singing for Priest. He was very humble about it.

  • I sang lead vocals and fronted for a local band in Florida, our guitarist grew-up with Tim. He visited us at rehersal one evening to hangout and sang on our gear. I couldnt help notice how hard his vocals pushed the limit LEDS on our amps! PURE POWER ! this was mearly months before he got the J.P. Gig

  • You'r e talking about Tommy McA.... He's an 'ol friend as is Tim... Ah the memories!

  • Yep T - Bone / Stage name.I sure do miss Tommy, We hads some great gigs N a few cocktails too LOL.

I'm gonna send youa video to your Channel an Original I wrote the Lyrics for Tommy and Bobby ( bass ) did the music

  • I am still kick'n! LOL

  • Dino?

  • "Plus Tim ain't gay.."

    Lol.

  • he looks like a realy nice guy

  • The movie Rockstar is based on this video..

so Rockstar is based on true events..

    sweet.

  • 7:20 "Plus Tim Ain't Gay" hahahaha LOL

  • You motherfucker, I was about to comment the same thing.

  • yeh the guy that said plus Tim aint gay was just stupid , its about the Music Rob is a Metal God and Time is aslo both Amazing Singers!!

  • I used to run sound for my friend's band back in the day and they opened for Winter's Bane/British Steel in the Erie, Cleveland, Buffalo area. Tim was always a very nice guy, and I thought he did Priest better than Halford. His voice was way more in control. Granted Rob wrote the stuff but Tim honed that shit in!

  • Tim's mom is the best

  • "dreams do come true"

    NICE

  • ROFL; was I the only one who found it ironically hilarious at the end when the announcer closes with "We'll be back with an old band with a new singer, Van Halen, when we return"

  • I just found this on my old vhs and was going to post it..Glad to see this up.

  • lmao plus tim ain't gay fucking great!

  • Fuck that guy who said Tim aint gay

  • You want Tim to be gay, lol? xD

  • wich the song at 1:50???

  • Wages of Sin

  • "Plus Tim aint gay" - Can't stop watching that xD Has nothing against gays though and I think that old man must be stupid.

  • Halford and ripper are both GREAT singers

  • halford and owens are both great

  • How cool...

It looks like this real life story is what "Rock Star" with Mark Walberg was based on (entirely).

  • halford is 1,000 better then ripper :)

  • they are both different

Tim is good but what annoying is only when he imitate Rob's manner.

When he sings his own manner (like Lost and Found or his 2009 solo album) it's deliver.

Rob got whole abyss of feeling behind his singing. That's called talent.

  • Ripper is 1,000 times better than Halford.

Thanks Ripper for comming to Mexico

  • "Plus Tim ain't gay!!"

    ...Douchebag.

  • @peacockfilletsteak Agreed. What a fucking hick!

  • @peacockfilletsteak Seriously, look at that guy - he's a closest case himself.

  • Agreed...Why did MTV leave that in there? BTW: One thing Tim ain't got.....stage presence.

  • "you get the playboy channel on the bus" wow... way to go tim.

  • Back in the 80's some friends and myself used to drive an hour to Akron on Thursday's to see Tim's cover band Damage inc. at the Temple Tavern! They later changed their name to Brainicide. Dan Johnson was one of the guitar players in that band as well. His band introduced me to the music of Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth! Moshing and stage diving for the first time, great memories! "Darkness falling, Kings of Steel collide"!!

  • "plus Tim Aint Gay".....WTF!!!!!!,,, how homophobic is cleeveland

  • yeah thats fucking retarded. who gives a shit if he is gay. he is the metal god

  • haha hell yeh , Rob motherfuking Halford invented modern metal

  • Are you guys fucking serious?? Ripper is an OK singer but there is no way he's better than Halford!!

  • Fun to see this after "Rock Star".

  • Personally I'd rather listen to Ripper. Unfortunately, Priest had to jump on the reunion bandwagon. They should have kept Ripper and Rob should have stuck with Two. That was the most brilliant thing he did.

  • "plus Tim aint gay" lol rednecks

  • tim is in the clost fag lol

  • go to tims my space where youll see pics of his wife and kids. TIM IS A GODDAMNED GREAT SINGER! DEAL W/IT!

  • very cool guy and much, much better vocalist than halford

  • Yeahh.. but his vocal is also unique..

  • props to tim owens.

    HOWEVER....

    rob halford's vocals are UNTOUCHABLE.
