  • From the comments, looks like you need to do a video on how to build your trap.

  • @Scouter213 - If I ever put that video together, it will be a DVD I sell. :)

  • @Scouter213 - That's an up-coming DVD that I plan on selling.

  • by any chance can i get the dimensions for the trap i would like to try and make one myself

  • im pretty sure you can buy that kind of trap

. aint it called a clover trap.

    but nice video.

  • @4020just - I'm pretty sure you can't buy one exactly like that. I started with a cloverleaf trap and experimented with various modifications for over two years.

  • @4020just - Cloverleaf traps have a single stage/compartment.

  • haha sweet im not the only one who uses sunfish and breams as bait

  • where could i buy a trap like that...lol im from NS and ive seen lobster traps smaller than that...great vid

  • @greatwhite1222 - Can't buy one like that. It's my own design that I built.

  • what would you charge to make me one or possibly send me some details so I can build one?

  • Hey Friend,

I enjoy all your videos, good stuff. Regarding the two-compartment trap design.

did you purchase this trap or make it? If purchased, where can I get one?

  • @MikeDean4125 The two-compartment trap is my own personal design. I've never seen anything like it for sale. I spent about two years experimenting to come up with something that would catch fish as effectively as a traditional 4-way cloverleaf trap, yet hold the fish once they went in. A traditional 4-way trap will catch baitfish like crazy, but after a point, the fish find their way out about as fast as they go in. With my trap, fish check in, but they don't check out!!!

  • the fisch at the end of the movie looks more like a perch not like a bream. nice movie anyway. thank you for the upload. keep going.

  • @calimeero Specifically, it's a "green sunfish" variety of bream.

  • go check out my minnow trap

  • NICE!!! I bet my crab trap will work the same. Its the same shape, just a bit smaller! Thanks fro the reminder!

  • wow. that was a lot of fish for that little of time. i have a bait trap but dont know a good place to set it out. where was that at?

  • @4986hunterofsouth Placing the trap next to that paddle-wheel aerator put it in a high oxygen location. I'm also using a two-compartment trap design. Bait fish enter through one of three funnels into compartment one, then a single funnel moves them deeper into compartment two. With a single compartment trap, once bait fish get a little crowded, they tend to find their way out about as fast as they go in. When they check into my trap, they don't check out!

  • @4986hunterofsouth I could tell you where that was, but then I'd have to kill you. lol The edge of a pond/ ake works. Mouth of a creek that enters another body of water is always great. Under docks/marinas is good, just be sure the trap is deep enough to not get hit by somebody's prop. In hot summer I like to place mine in a patch of lily pads, the floating leaves shade the trap from direct overhead sun. Around bridge pilings, or any underwater structure such as base of cypress is good.

  • sadly bream/sunfish and or bluegill are illegal to use as bait in NY state. i like this dudes farm tho. very clean... but why is he wearing those blue gloves?

  • @revmaynard971 It's not a farm. It's a waste-water lagoon pond for a small municipality. It's very productive due to high organic content (i.e. shit) - not clean at all! You'd wear gloves too. lol

  • @ttenni

    hahaaa loooooooool

(i.e. shit) hahahaa I wonder what the fish will smell like as a bait fish

  • @revmaynard971 It's probably to protect his hands from those sharp cut ends of hardware cloth wire.

  • Now that was cool. I've been thinking about making me one of those.

  • @TGCCJ Before you build a bait trap, check your local game & fish regs. The rules vary from state to state, including dimensions and funnel opening size. You don't want to go to the trouble and expense of building a trap, only to discover that what you built isn't legal in your jurisdiction. While bream are legal bait in many states, bass and crappie are typically NOT legal bait. Any baby bass/crappie caught must be released.
