please reply. i recently bought a new axolotl. i put them in the same tank. they are the same size.i watched for awhile and one of them kept biting the others tail. im not sure if there a boy or a girl their both around 6 inches. i have read that some stores sell tiger salamander larvae under the name of 'axolotl'.ones is black and one is blackish/charcoal grey. i am concerned about this. i have not heard of this before,

they're not strong enough for it to be on land most axolotls never go on land cuz they stay like in the larval stage for their whole lives

You can order them off eBay but you have to be careful of the breeder. Whatever you do dont buy one from walmart/ASDA or Two by Two because they're shockingly in bad condition.

Cute axolotl! I (I´m biologist) keep three of them and some of their tadpoles. Quite funny music, fits very well to his funny little lotl! If someone wants to keep some, please buy a really big tank (120 ltrs and more), keep their water cold and never add any chemicals!! Not even fertilizer or anything else. And never keep fish (except of guppies e.g.- that will be eaten)or other animals with them, because either lotl or the other animals will be badly hurt or even die.

Yah Tristian, i finally sucessfully reared some babies!have 4 now. There are many places you can buy them if you already haven't. look online or in a newspaper.

Ooh, I keep axies myself - have a couple of tips to keep him really happy.

More live plants - it encourages foraging - and they LOVE to climb them.

A foodbowl - makes it easier to feed, and clean any mess left over - and they don't ingest as much floor!

Toys! Pingpong balls when sunk make for great fun.

They're such nosy, inquistive animals...
