As a Devils fan, i'd rather see the Bruins get the 8th seed and listen to the whining Ranger fans in the offseason. Heck, i'm a Yankee fan and my parents and siblings all bitched about the Mets losing all the time last season.  They got under my skin in August, til the Yankees won the World Series and I got under their skin.

Lou will never forget Johnny Mac or Bruce Driver's voluntary defection to the Rangers, and he'll never forgive Nieds waiting until the day before the free agent deadline to tell him he was going to take less money to play in Anaheim. I wouldn't be shocked if none of those three get their numbers retired. Elias' will be next, no question.

to be fair, johnny mac went to the sharks before the rangers and there really isn't a grudge because lou made Mac assistant coach.

driver went to the rangers because of the talk of devils moving to nashville and he wanted to stay in the nj area.

it was pretty obvious niedermayer was gonna go to the ducks. lou knew it. nieds wanted to win a cup with Rob. he didn't go to anahiem for money like how gomez went to the rangers just for money.

I agree that they should have retired Johnny Mac's number, but I'm not too sure about Nied's 27, as he still had some time left in his career when he left Jersey.

As for two numbers that MUST be retired in Jersey, hands-down, is Brodeur's 30 (duh) and Elias' 26.

Love the Yanni music at the 8:00 mark. The Devils always used to use it during the playoffs. Wish they still did. It can give you goosebumps!
