  • What's wrong with your voice? Sounds like you're slowed down.

  • Is it just me, or is there Spongebob-like music playing during the first half of the video?

  • The robot arms are in constant motion around the track, right? So, are the projection domes in motion at the same speed as you or are they stationary?

  • When I rode this, I got stuck right in front of the dragon. It breathes steam in your face. It was early days, so they were still fixing a couple of glitches. I'm not complaining though, because my dad and brother got stuck in front of a dementor. :S

But I got to go back later in the day and ride it all the way through.

    Favorite ride ever.

And I like the spiderman ride too.

  • u know that is amazing as u look it looks like nothing and when the ride is going its like your in a new world wow I.O.A i dont know how u did it

  • lol Basilisk skeleton

  • The Ride && it stopped 2times && we didnt see that

  • I'd love to ride the ride like this. I love Harry Potter but the way this ride normally works is way too much for me, I can't handle it. xD

  • wow this is sick. thanks for postingg

  • The dementor that scares me the most is the 2nd Dementor (1:30 on the left)

  • why is the wooden bridge infamous?

  • i was there and on the ride above hogwarts.....then everything shutdown and they had technical diffuculties...thumbs up if this happened to you friday may 27 2011 lol

  • You upload this video on my Birthday

  • The harry potter ride in four words:

    Magic bench on claw.

  • THIS HAPPENED EXACTLY TO ME, when they ride you with the lights on, and you were in the same position as everyone. It was Yesterday!

  • You know what I'd like 2 know how do they get into the chamber of secrets

  • @jazzornater

I wondered that as well. You kind of just stumble into it and there's Dementor's there.

  • @carlorufinosabusap I just looked it up because I was curious about it myself. When leaving the Quidditch match we go though the hole thatHarry, Ron, Ginny, Fawkes, and Lockhart escaped through in the second film/book.

  • @jazzornater In the end of the second movie, Fawkes flies Harry, Ron, Ginny and Gilderoy Lockhart Up through a giant hole in the ground that is located near the Quidditch Pitch. As soon as the Dementors come down on the screen, Harry tries finding the closest place of safety. Then out of nowhere a Dementor knocks your ride vehicle as well as Harry, too into the giant hole that leads into the Chamer of Secrets.

  • @jazzornater You don't just stumble into the chamber, when the dementors attack at the quidditch field your bench gets knocked off course and goes flying into a cavern in the rocks which if you recall in the second movie is how they get out of their, and then Harry Finds you and takes you out. :)

  • @jazzornater The bench falls through the hole through which Harry, Ron, Ginny, Fawkes, and Gilderoy Lockhart escaped in the second Harry Potter installment.

  • Is this a good ride also the dementor and the spider looked freaky........ I have a phobia of spiders though......well some of em

  • that spider looks soooooooooooooo beast mode and the dragon but still thats a big place for a simulater ride but spiderman is still tha best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DJkidc1 im sorry but this eats spiderman alive

  • 0:27 is hermione an anomatronic or video stream?

  • @Broadwaypuppet

She's a projected video in both scenes of the ride

  • Haha. The dementors do look like puppet sticks. xD

  • My big cousin is scared of the part where it shows all of the spiders and the part when eragog pops out

  • @Ace13182 lol sorry.

  • This is so interesting thank you for capturing it! Was this your first ride of the forbidden journey?

  • Haha guess wat?!?! My aunt is a Disney animator and my uncle works at universal. Guess who gets in BOTH parks for FREE!! Haha...ME!!!!!!

  • @LivingDeadGirl7108 You have no idea how happy I am for you :/

  • This is the coolest ride. Its just so amazing.

  • why did they turn it all on and they took u through ws if the ride was normal

  • @SuperKingfilms

     . . . what?

  • Is that Hawaiian music playing in the background?

  • @MechaBearHunter

It's my stupid cellphone's alarm clock going off at 9 AM. We stayed at the Universal Hard Rock Hotel so we were giving entrance to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter one hour before the park opened.

  • when i went on it broke down for 35mins and all they gave you when you came of was one fast pass for one ride so if you get break down one this ride go to customer

service and get more fast passes.

  • One, why was that music playing in the ride when it broke down. AND 2 if i want a tour of the ride i just have to ge someone before me to be sick on the ride at the same time im on it

  • Thanks for sharing this! You've really helped us out with trying to determine if I (huge arachniphobe) and our oldest can handle this ride. I think we've got a few more years for him to wait and I at least know now where to close my eyes! lol

  • how long were u guys stuck on the ride

  • @dtrain4900

    about 30 - 40 minutes :/

  • ahh, silly muggles. its not REALLY a robotic arm. actual wizards just didnt want people figuring out that wizards are real so they disguised it as this.

  • @MonkeyOfConfusion

SHHHHHHHHHH!!!! What business have you here, magic-folk? Have you transgressed the muggle-magic-folk barrier? Return at once! Your cover may have been blown!

  • After riding this 10 or more times, it's so strange to see it as it was built o.O

Did y'all get to ride it again, or what? I'd be so mad if you had to get back in line, seeing how long it usually is.

  • @ChAoS9779

Well, unfortunately, we had to return at a later time in the day after the ride was cleaned and tested. As we exited, the students/staff gave us Universal Fast-Pass™ vouchers for use later.

    BUT . . .

Unfortunately, the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Ride is not eligible for Universal Fast-Pass™ use, so we had to get back in line. The best time, I suggest, to go on the ride is right early in the morning as the park opens, and in the evening around 7 pm.

  • @carlorufinosabusap Ouch! lol. Well I'm sure y'all had a good time regardless ;D

Yeah, we stayed at the onsite hotels, but never got up early enough to go there before the park opens to the public -_-. Even during closing hours it was an hour long wait...

  • @carlorufinosabusap Or, you can go in the singles rider line right outside the lockers and be on the ride in two minutes ;-)

We waited in line once to see the inside of the castle and then just kept going in the singles line to re-ride

  • @coachjodi22

    True . . .but . . .

Unfortunately they also close down the single rider line mid-day for some reason. I find it best to go early in the morning. If you do the Universal Hotel stay, you can go in an hour before the park even opens, and it makes taking pictures of the scenery a whole lot easier without all those annoying Muggles in the way.

  • @carlorufinosabusap

I'm not sure what time they shut it down, but we were in line from 12:30-2 and then went into the singles line about 2:30.

We weren't staying on Universal property, so we went straight to HP at 9am and the line was already at an hour and a half. We left and when we came back at 11:15, the whole Harry Potter section was shut down because of over capacity. They gave us tickets to come back in at 12:30.

Hit or miss for singles line I guess

  • something similar happened to me when i went on space mountain once, we rode it and then just as we were about to exit something went wrong, lights came on, we all got to see the inside and then they gave us another ride to make it up for it, but we were so close to finishing the first time that we basically rode it twice and got to see the inner workings

  • what happend to the being you did not get stuck idk

  • fuckin aragog scared me

  • Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I've always been puzzled as to how the ride was on a constant conveyor belt but spent a significant amount of time in front of a screen. Those projector domes look [and are] incredible! It's too bad someone had to vomit for this to happen, though lol.

  • @JulianneSparrow2 I was confused about how they achieve the dome trick too. But, from what I'm guessing, besides just wrapping around, the domes are on a path and move with the vehicle itself in a circle.

  • @KOOLDudefilms That is correct. They move on what is called a "lazy susan" which keeps the domes moving along with the ride.

  • This would be awesome if they used more of this on ride technology in future rides.

  • Wow that was amazing, and it was obvious this was sheer luck for you to have the camera on you to record! This is a one of kind ride from what I hear, but Im still leary about the spider scene cause I hate them lol

  • does it go upside down ???

  • @Puredove11

No, it's not a roller coaster.

  • this reminds me of the first time I went to the wwhp and on our way out this women spit butter beer everywhere and to 3 people to clean it. funny huh. =D

  • i went on this it waz awesome

  • Exactly how large and how tall do u have to be to not go on?

  • This is SUPER awesome you got to walk through it!

    SO, jealous!

  • @SingingAngel32

    Um. We're not walking.

  • @carlorufinosabusap Yeah, I realized that about a minute after I posted it, and was too lazy to delete.

    Sorry!

  • how big was that king spider guy and how close was he. it's the only reason why i don't want to go on this. :/

  • @wiiS360

Aragog is about the size of a Volkswagen Beetle and is approximately 7 - 10 feet away from you during the ride. Aragog is only a statue and does not move.

  • @carlorufinosabusap thanks! i reeeeeaaaally hate spiders. i thought you were gonna end up going under him like the Dinosaur in the Jurassic Park Ride. but i did see that smaller spider looming above and the spitting spiders. oh well. thanks again!

  • @wiiS360 Same here. Unfortunately for me, I have been bribed into riding this when my family and I go.... I was made an offer I can't refuse...

  • haha it happened to me in the spider forest right when I was on my back and there were big ass spiders right above me it stops and im like oh shit and they said "blah blah we will be back up shortly" im just like laying there with spiders staring me down...

lol they told us the "dragon" messed up the track and we can ride again no wait if we want to

  • DOES the seat move like a rollercoaster doin flips or does the seat go straight

  • @123hahaurdead

Yes, the ride does MANY flips, turns, falls, shakes, dips, flies, spins, etc.

  • @carlorufinosabusap

no the ride does not go upside down it leans back like a recliner would but you never go upside down. and as much as falls go you drop at max of them all 6ft.

  • @123hahaurdead no it does NOT do flips there are some parts where it pushes you on your back and you stay there for a bit but it never does a flip

  • @123hahaurdead

NOOOOO IT DOESNT! ive been on the ride 5 times and it DOES NOT flip!

  • awww how sad =[ i woulda been soooo upset if this happened to me.

  • dude out of the whole world, they chose the best place to make this park!

i've been to universal a million times because i live so close, and now i get to go again just for harry potter:D

  • i might go to universal orlando on my own next month, none of my mates want to 'waste' their money... :(

  • @LeeClaxton

Looks like you need new 'mates'

  • i love this ride rode 6 times on tues and im not the person to ride roller coasters

  • @tgiacin435

YUP! The ride and the entire Hogsmeade area is awesome. I've been back 5 times since the beginning of summer and I've ridden the ride countless times. I just can't get enough of it.

  • @tgiacin435 I don't ride coasters either, because of the drops...I couldn't tell from this vid because there was no movement of the "benches", but does it actually drop you at some points?

  • @TheRemyWolf

The ride was in emergency evacuation mode, so none of the enhanced movement was there. There are many points of drops, dashes, twists, shakes, falls, and spins, all very manageable for those with average constitutions.

  • @TheRemyWolf well it does but its not as bad

  • Maybe I should try vomiting next time I ride HPatFJ

  • OMG I've been waiting so long for someone to post a video with the lights on!!! Thanks!!!

  • @QueenAceKing

    You're Welcome

  • Projector Domes that actually move with the ride. THATS JUST AMAZING

  • @Oneofakind407

Actually, the movement of the domes is pretty tame. The HD FishEye projectors stay attached to the domes. The ride vehicle simple moves into the dome and jostles around as the domes move smoothly in a circle. You essentially join the domes in a carousel like timing mechanism. There are about 5 or 6 domes connected together on a large "lazy susan" and your ride vehicle catches up with one of the domes.

  • @carlorufinosabusap You learn something new every day :)

  • i can't believe so many people like spiderman over forbidden journey! FJ is way better!

and yay for someone vomiting everywhere and letting us see the ride with the lights on! haha

  • Nice video man. Always wondered what details go into these rides. I was there yesterday. Loved the dementors part.

  • @stringfellowhawke247 that part scared the hell out of me because the dementor was super close to my face

  • The mother must have have drank A LOT of butterbeer LOL

  • I was there there in the queue outside the gates to the actual hogwarts building when this happened the queue said 60 minutes anyway turned out tha we were actualy queuing for a while longer i think it took like 30 minutes to clear everything up !

  • THIS RIDE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! GREAT USAGE OF ENGINNERING KNOWN TO MAN TODAY. WHEN I GOT OFF, I FELT LIKE I WAS STILL FLYING!!!!!!

  • This ride is much better than spiderman! Spiderman is awesome too though! The vehicles allow for an amazing face to face experience with a dragon, dementors, and spiders. Really provides as close to stepping into Harry's world as possible.

  • This is AMAZING...but I feel bad for the child whos Mother vomited all over her (him?), Harry Potter ruined!

  • Awesome video! Rode this ride 3 times, it's great! SPiderman, Haunted Mansion still better, though this ride top 5! Yes, the moving movie domes are just like described below. Very clever!

  • @makemyfilm . . . . you think the Haunted Mansion is better? Granted the ride is much longer, but I doubt it's better :\

  • @makemyfilm how is haunted mansion and spider man better then this?! this is the most amazing ride ive ever been on!!

  • No one else thought the noise in the background (I guess his cell phone?) sounded like "epona's song" from Zelda?

  • is this ride similar to spiderman

  • @123hahaurdead Kind of. The vehicle on this ride moves much more, and there are more sets than Spidey, which is has more screens. Also, on this ride, you don't stop moving. The large domes you see in the video are screens, which you practically go inside. The screens move at the same pace as the vehicles so it seems like you are stationary. On spiderman you approach a screen and stop, approach another screen and stop. In overall experience, though, I would say, yes they are similar.

  • @christhenerd8

Actually, in Spiderman, you do keep moving! you just don't notice it. Also, unlike Spiderman, the vehicle seats are similar to those of hanging roller-coasters, your feet are hanging freely below the seat.

  • @carlorufinosabusap Really? Wow. I couldn't tell. And yes, the vehicles are very different, but I ran out of room on my previous comment. The vehicles for Forbidden Journey are robo arms, while the Spidey cars are essentially mini motion simulators on wheels.

  • @carlorufinosabusap And on Spiderman, the screens dont move, in harry potter, the movie domes actually move with the ride, which is an excellent feature

  • @christhenerd8 ok thanks a lot

  • I've already been pining for a trip to Florida, but this makes me want to go that much more. Thanks for the vid!

  • @coasterpro

You're welcome. The ride is very much awesome. I do warn everyone who wants to go, it is NOT designed for very large or very tall people. One of my friends couldn't fit on the ride vehicle properly, so he was not able to ride. There is a test seat outside of Hogwarts where you can check your fitting. If it does not click at least three times, you can not ride.

  • Wow. I went on this a week ago and have been DYING to see how it all works. Very cool and thanks for posting!

  • @charmedbaby96

    You're Welcome ;)

  • What is that music i can hear in the background, sounds like depressing country music or something.

  • @Gazza2

Oh lol that's my cellphone's alarm going off. Its this crappy default song, some sort of weird Hawaiian tune.

  • Most awesome video on YouTube. Ever.

  • @BrakeRun

    You're welcome

  • Hey i was in HHN training when this happened and i had to help out with securing the equipment during the E-Stop so yeah u rode right past me when they started the ride up i was right behind the dementor anamatronic well right below

  • But what I dont understand is how each vehicle sees the same video when in the 'dome'? The vehicles are separated by 3-4 seconds on the track, so how does each vehicle see the full film? How is that even possible? Surely some vehicles would arrive in the 'dome' halfway through the film?

  • @LeeClaxton

You'll notice in the video above that the domes are sized only for ONE vehicle. Each vehicle gets its own dome. There is a 6 second delay between each vehicle. Essentially, there are about 5 or 6 domes connected together on a big "lazy susan" that follows the vehicles. About 3-4 vehicles are inside the domes at a time and the video plays starting when each vehicle meets their respective dome. Think of the way that water flows through a windmill wheel.

  • @LeeClaxton

. . . The water pours into the top of the wheel and is carried down the wheel until it spills out at the bottom. Each trough in the wheel is like a dome and the water represents each vehicle. They stay inside the dome until that part of the ride is finished and the riders are "dumped" into the next scene, which is a live action set.

  • @LeeClaxton

at 1:08 to 1:21 you'll see the domes to the right connected together

  • Do you also know that just after the Dumbledore screen saying 'welcome back to Hogwarts anytime - now tuck your elbows in' there is a plume of smoke that hides a secret track leading to a storage bay for the ride vehicles at night?

  • Comment removed

  • @LeeClaxton . . . english please? Also, one of my friends was too tall to ride it :( and had to wait for us to get out. He spotted the woman and her son covered in vomit exiting the ride flanked by Hogwarts "students". She spotted a garbage can ahead and ran for it.

Apparently she didn't read all the warning signs posted everywhere warning against riders with motion sensitivity, ultimately ruining the experience for everyone who waited in line.

  • Comment removed

  • @LeeClaxton

.... if you really rode it 27 times you would know right away there's only one track and that the "screen" is a dome and the vehicle moves up and down on the arm inside the dome. The ride vehicle actually maintains a constant speed but the "fastness" of the ride is simulated by the movement of the arm which the seats are attached to.

  • very, very interesting stuff inside hogwarts as well amazing too thanks for the upload

  • JARBEKAKJRBAJKRJBKAJRBKAJBRKJABKAJRBKAJB!!!!!!!!! This is too amazing for words. Thank you for uploading this.
