Woo. Nice. A Honda customer of mine apparently went to school with him and knew him quite well up here in the great white Northwest. He's apparently a great bassist! ... and of course overall a great composer and musician. He's much more gifted than I am.
I never knew before , but apparently Patrick O Hearn was Frank Zappa's bassist for 2 years, and Frank encouraged Patrick to explore stuff with synthesizers and whatnot.....years later resulting in his amazing music.
Was a fan too, liked more his sequenced stuff before, but seems it got into more meditative music in the last years, it's deep and imaginative... but unfortunately, even if I like, I usually never find the good timing to listen to, he seem actually to approach more ambiants styles like Roach, Rich or Brennan. Thanks anyway for this rare home-live video.
Big fan of Patrick O'Hearn since "Ancient Dreams" came out. Just watched my DVD of "White Sands" again. Brilliant. Nice to finally see this talented man play! Thanks for posting this!
Beautiful music comes from within. Patrick O' Hearn's music is beautiful. I don't know what place he goes to, to find and perform his amazing music, but I'm glad he shares it with us.
So awesome that you did this video to let us see the process of making music. Thanks Patrick. I have a playlist with just your music on my backup channel here, not my main. Bye... <3 AC
I like his music so much, and i find it hard not to keep going to it when when searching for sound for my photo journey slideshow's. I hope you don't mind Pat.
I love Patrick O'Hearn's bass playing. I think I'm one of the few to own the rare LP with him and Tony Williams. The combo of Bozzio and O'Hearn was lethal, if music can be lethal. O'Hearn's one of my favorite bass players and he should be everyone's favorite. Do you hear how tasteful and melodic this is? It's like he's Mick Taylor!
I never thought I would see him perform this is great. For 14 years I lived in Tollhouse Ca and bought all his cd's and played him loud up in the mountains, loved it.
EMT 251, AMS, Lexicon 480L - 224XL - 200 - and PCM 70. Digital Delays: Lexicon Prime Time, Prime Time 2, PCM 42s, and Eventide H3000SE. --good stuff all.
@Plus4Levels Yeah...he's using an Eventide H3000SE Used to work for Eventide (then Eventide Clockwords) in the 70's in NYC. Now They're in Jersey. Absolutely top of the line gear ! ;-)
Hey! It's a Missing Person. To Infinity and Beyond Patrick. #1 Fan and a friend in my head.

It''s like he's the Mick Taylor of bass playing he's so wonderfully melodic, poised and tasteful (just like Mick Taylor's guitar playing).

fretless = yawn

if his fretless is boring you, try jaco pastorius with Weather Report playing 'teen town" in 77 or 78.

Listed to Jaco when I first started playing bass in 1979. Just don't like the sound.
I like it on a few tunes here and there, but in general it doesn't have the punch that a fretted bass does. I like Jeff Berlin a lot.

I have all his albums...he is one of the best new age artists ever. Hands down.
