This movie was more boring then dirt! The whole thing was just waiting for the next fight scene. The fight scenes were great & so was Carano's acting for being her first film. I think she has a promising future but in an effort not to push her too hard they sacrificed a LOT of character development. She wasn't ready just yet to carry a movie. Honestly, I think she got kinda cheated. The score was minimalist but the movie wasn't interesting enough for that to work. I gave it a 4.5 but Carano a 8
Weak review guys. You got all caught up that Carano did a decent job and left out the run of the mill plot, lack of empathy with the main character, unrealistic plot points (huge fight in hotel room with gunshot but no action at all from hotel for instance) really two dimensional supporting characters - in particular the father - which added up to a very by the numbers flick with a few good fight scenes. Next time, actually review the movie, not the performance of one actor.
Oh great. Another femme fatale film featuring women who can kick your ass. Don't get me wrong; I like strong female characters, but that doesn't mean she has to be superwoman. Real women have flaws and conflicts, but hollywood always portrays tough women as masculine, oversexed avengers. This trend in movies is getting old.
I dont understand why you feel the need to compare different actors that are completely unrelated with the movie you are reviewing (especially comparing a 20 year old woman in an action flick to a 12 year old kid in a drama). @spaik007 Any fight scene that lasts more than ten seconds is a waste of time. Unfortunately they drag on for five minutes and more. Anything that affects the plot can happen in ten seconds or less.
I think Carano's character is helped to be believable by also having appropriately sized men playing the male roles. Often they have the daintiest women taking down some 7,2 300 pound giant which is always inconceivable regardless of gender. I don't care if it's jessica alba or owen wilson neither of them could realistically do any of it.
Wow, they all loved it! I thought this looked like it could be good from the start, so I'm very glad to hear it is! And it's great to see a believable female action star for once (I thought Paula Patton was quite believable in Mission: Impossible 4 as well).

These are obviously really smart people, and the setup for the show is relatively simple, but there continue to be weird little things that pop up from time to time that suggest they are new at this. Finally, a female action hero who is actually believable. Kate Beckinsale and Angelina Jolie are beautiful, but they don't look like they can kick the ass of a 220 lb guy. Gina Carano definitely could.

@alphacause Yes completely agree! We NEED more literally strong actresses to fill roles that require them and not just choreographed pretty faces. And Gina is freaking beautiful too.
