@acidangelster I know the rc211 was a V5....I was just looking at the date of the video, 2009 I thought Honda switched back to the V4 800cc cap. Oh well, I'm new to motogp so I don't know what I'm talking about lol
@ricecakeFTW Whoops.....you re spot on.Didnt notice the date,it def is the Rc212v,......a V4 like u said.My apologies.........U defo knew what u were talking about.
@tofernandes12 some if not all motogp bikes dont have electric starters in order to shave weight. good luck stealing a moto gp bike hahaha youre better off looking for a civilian sportbike with an ignition and no key
Not true. These are high compression engines, but there a plenty of starter motors on the market that would turn them over. Hell, I'm sure if you've watched a race, you've seen riders push starting their bikes. However, the starter has been omitted for weight savings; the same reason it's omitted in any other Motorsport without on-board starters. No point in lugging a piece of equipment around that you won't use 99% of the time.
@emtildeath sure it would, depends what the normal starter motor is, you'd fit one that could! the reason they don't have one is purely for weight saving i believe
The reason for two exhausts is aerodynamics, undertail exhausts reduce the drag in the empty spot behind the bike and rider by filling it up with exhaust gas. If you will notice the undertail is smaller outlet than the first one, the reason is so there is not too much exhaust gases to fill up the void that causes turbulence. These are not tuned streetbike engines, these are 1 000 000$ engines garbage after a race or 2 that put out alot of CFM, it does make a difference and worth the weight.
@ninja6kid Those are V configured engines which means a bank of cylinders is at the front and back side of the engine. This is the biggest reason for the undertail exhausts on GP bikes with V-4's. If you look at the Yamaha M1 GP bike it only has a single low mounted side discharge because its motor is an I-4 so all of the cylinders are at the front of the bike.
@ninja6kid Where did you concoct a story like that. It amazes me the shit people make up on the internet just to be bumping their gums. If you dont know....dont say shit. Jesus!
i hear they have to spin the back wheel up to about 50 mph to start these bikes i dont think a starter motor will do that somehow well not on that will be light enough to take round the track
@adrenalinjunkie1000 if the back wheel must spin at 50mph to start it, how do they jump start it if it stalls during race!!! i don't think a man can run 50 mph!!
@adrenalinjunkie1000 the starter motor wouldn't need to spin the engine to 50 miles an hour, its just the geared wheel equivalent of the rpms. you could have a normal starter motor, but it's lighter not to...
theres something wicked about needing the lawn mower thing to bump start your bike... makes pressing the little button on my gixxer a bit less of a sense of occasion lol
@flexinn1 looks goofy at first i know. you can get more power out of each cylnder if you run individual pipes. i think it is more common to be seen on modded snowmobiles, running triples or big twins.
To get one, you need a lot of money like Abraham. then go the one of the Factorys and pay them 850.000 euros for one bike

@adrenalinjunkie1000 You can push start them at 5-10MPH pretty easily - the wheel spinner is just a convenience thing.

tehDusK 1 year ago
@tehDusK why? so they can add more weight to those bikes and be at a disadvantage to the competitors? no GP bike has a starter motor
77rxpharmacy 1 year ago
@77rxpharmacy By 'starter motor' i refer to the motor starting the bike.
The one that's used to spin the rearwheel having the same effect as pushing the bike with engaged gear and clutch.
Same principle as a built in starter motor that you're most likely referring to, just that it's external.
Also see the original post i replied to.
