Tile will always leak eventually. Even if the membranes are installed correctly to catch the leaking water, the constant dampness behind the tile breeds mold and mildew that there is no way to get rid of without tearing the whole thing out. When you do tear it out you almost always find rotting wood where the membranes failed. Thank you for what you are doing with the tile-free showers. I will never have tile inside a shower again.
