This was the song that Paul played to John when they first met at a garden fête where John was performing with his band (The Quarrymen). And the legend begins...
As much as I hate saying "music back then..." or "I'm only 18...", but I must admit that only back then you could write a song about walking some stairs because of an elevator flaw and still make a friggin catchy tune. With less actual content than the Rebecca Black song, this guy depicts the mundane life in a way never seen before. But then I'm not an old timer who listened to Jesus songs before Rock'n'roll was invented, so I may be wrong.
I saw an Everly Brothers interview some time ago and they said that nobody stood a chance with any women in the room when Eddie Cochran was around. Elvis Presley was a great admirer. RIP Eddie Cochran, a brilliant musician taken so suddenly from us Thanks for posting. Arf
@rawmac7 He didn't copy Elvis but being 3 years younger he was, like many other 1st generation Rock n' Rollers, inspired by El's rapid fire fast success. Ed, was actually, in a way much more inspired by Segovia, Ray Charles (he always praised Ray as a genius) and some other black artists (Penniman, J Wilson et al). But Eddie very fast created a style of his own, anyway after "Summertime Blues" was a hit. That teen anthem.
Why is Eddie not more well know? He only lived to 21. Do I Wikipedia (sorry) on him and you will see an amazing array of musicians who covered him - incredible! Thus, though many of the public has forgotten him, the rock greats never did!
Er yes in the Uk every year the TEDS ROCKERS and joe public have a big do at the site where Eddie died at his memorial plaque on the date of his untimely death.
@TheRadicalLiberal The first police officer on the scene was Dave Harman, he took eddies guitar to the police station, anyway dave harman left the police in 1963 and formed dave dee, dozy, beaky, mitch and titch.
For Gods sake get a grip Eddie started as a country singer and picker and did not have a hit until March 1957 2 years after Elvis hit the charts where on earth does the false premise that Elvis ripped him off come from? evidence please though there is none.
This was the song that brought John Lennon and Paul McCartney together at the Woolton fete in suburban Liverpool. Paul knew the words to Twenty Flight Rock and this greatly impressed John (and me too!)

...yeah, don't know why Eddie Cochran isn't up there with Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Little Richard & Jerry Lee Lewis - but he's certainly one of early rock n' roll's architects. Also, when a teenage Paul McCartney met a teenage John Lennon for the first time at a village church fete, he played 'Twenty Flight Rock' to John who was suitably impressed Paul knew all the words and chords. McCartney has said many times "that song got me into The Beatles".

Fucking wankers! The producers of this movie cut Eddie's guitar solo completely and managed to talk over one of the greatest solos in Gene Vincent's Bee-Bop-A-Lula.
if it was not for Elvis, The black lady would not be in that film, what he done for race relations, all humans should be proud. As James Brown said he was a brother.
*Elvis was just a poser ! he stole a lot of songs* Ha!Ha! It's funny when people "dis" Elvis. He had an f***ing brilliant voice, brilliant performer, wonderful person (funny, charismatic, sensitive)
+ I think he had great reverence for the artists' songs he covered. Do you mean covered when you say "stole"? Also, there is no law that says brilliant singers and performers have to write their own songs.

What about Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Brian Setzer, and Jerry Garcia? No list of greatest guitarists is complete without at-least two of these..
