  • This was the song that Paul played to John when they first met at a garden fête where John was performing with his band (The Quarrymen). And the legend begins...

  • Dont forgget the true lead man who created rockabilly Bill Haley!!

  • As much as I hate saying "music back then..." or "I'm only 18...", but I must admit that only back then you could write a song about walking some stairs because of an elevator flaw and still make a friggin catchy tune. With less actual content than the Rebecca Black song, this guy depicts the mundane life in a way never seen before. But then I'm not an old timer who listened to Jesus songs before Rock'n'roll was invented, so I may be wrong.

  • wow music that never come´s back...

  • I love fast action and up lifting lyrics in this song, so my mind dances in delight.

  • Yes j'adore

  • Eddie Cochran is the king of rock'n roll. Not Elvis, not anybody else.. <3

  • Jump...scroll yeah !

  • He is up there you dick - why do you think Sid Vicious covered "Something Else" -everything he did was ruling rock n roll wise x m

  • What you Want?

  • I saw an Everly Brothers interview some time ago and they said that nobody stood a chance with any women in the room when Eddie Cochran was around. Elvis Presley was a great admirer. RIP Eddie Cochran, a brilliant musician taken so suddenly from us Thanks for posting. Arf

  • Eddy was a musical genius..His technology was ahead of his time,if it was not for the quality of Eddie well the rest is History..

  • Rock & Roll is fun with Eddie doing his thing!

  • i wonder how much more he could've acomplished in his life

    how he'll be more known

  • @sweettouth20 Eddie is with us all everyday.

  • Was he copying Elvis? or was this the style? Still like it

  • @rawmac7 He didn't copy Elvis but being 3 years younger he was, like many other 1st generation Rock n' Rollers, inspired by El's rapid fire fast success. Ed, was actually, in a way much more inspired by Segovia, Ray Charles (he always praised Ray as a genius) and some other black artists (Penniman, J Wilson et al). But Eddie very fast created a style of his own, anyway after "Summertime Blues" was a hit. That teen anthem.

  • @recorditem

'd be a great choice for him. But I'm not shure, if there'd be ever a movie bout him. :|

  • esta cancion me encanta

  • RIP Eddie Cochran, you died much too young.

  • 90% of what happened after 1970 should have been aborted.

  • @soulmziklova those young dudes invented CRAP music.

  • He is a legand! ;)

  • thats the great juanita moore (imitation of life) gettin down to our boy

  • Why is Eddie not more well know? He only lived to 21. Do I Wikipedia (sorry) on him and you will see an amazing array of musicians who covered him - incredible! Thus, though many of the public has forgotten him, the rock greats never did!

  • Bet you all don't know that Paul McCartney sang this to John Lennon and became one of the Quarrymen.

  • @histre101 i did

  • his guitar was returned to his family

  • I love him, hes the best rocknroller

  • Whatever happened to Eddie's guitar?

  • @citizenlen Isn't it in England?

  • Er yes in the Uk every year the TEDS ROCKERS and joe public have a big do at the site where Eddie died at his memorial plaque on the date of his untimely death.

  • Eddie was a MEGA Talented guy who could play numerous instruments...Good looking too~wink~

  • Poor eddie was totally busted up when Buddy Holly was killed in a plane crash and the died himself not so long after in a car crash in England.

Betcha all didn a know that!

  • @TheRadicalLiberal The first police officer on the scene was Dave Harman, he took eddies guitar to the police station, anyway dave harman left the police in 1963 and formed dave dee, dozy, beaky, mitch and titch.

  • love :)

  • The best stair song ever song in Rock& Roll. Eddie Rocks!

  • What movie is this from?

  • For Gods sake get a grip Eddie started as a country singer and picker and did not have a hit until March 1957 2 years after Elvis hit the charts where on earth does the false premise that Elvis ripped him off come from? evidence please though there is none.

  • WoW! Elvis totally ripped him off! Or maybe colonel Parker did??..R.I.P.

  • @BASS4HIREJAXFL Uh, I think you have that a bit backwards. Cochran came after Elvis.

  • @fosterlink Really? how much before? If he was born in '38..on the road with Hank @ 16 and 4 months...that would make it 1954? No disrespect...

  • It's hard to believe Eddie died today 50 years ago.

  • Never To Be Forgotten. Cochran Rocks!

  • 50 years today since Eddie Cochran died, 17th April 1960, R.I.P.

  • The 17th of April is the 50th Anniversary of Eddies death remember and play his music.

  • my boyfriend andi had to do this a dance to this and it the coolest song to dance to!!!!!

  • This was the song that brought John Lennon and Paul McCartney together at the Woolton fete in suburban Liverpool. Paul knew the words to Twenty Flight Rock and this greatly impressed John (and me too!)

  • I just saw the movie Nowhere Boy yesterday, which is why I looked this up. What a great tune.

  • Well this one has gone into me favourites.

  • It's from the movie "The Girl Can't Help It". The pink coat was bright red in the movie. (Some color movie film fades in time).

  • odd then that the color of this guitar didnt fade??

  • Eddie, ta musique traverse les époques ,les genres et le temps, et restera toujours gravé dans mon coeur

  • even if I love elvis, cochran had a career shorter than elvis' and he is so famous than him,how do you explain it?

  • @TheKing59159

that's because he died young and everybody missed him a big deal because he was such a promising artist ...

at least, that's how i feel

  • A shame they cut out the solo of the song.

  • @dkfelix Second that.

  • @dkfelix ;O)

  • "Twenty Flight Rock" (Key of A: 1A-4D-5E) is a fantastic tight

1-4-5 three chord song. If you play Bar Chords this and almost all 50s songs are easy to follow. :)

  • arcane.bobs: Duke of Rock from XXCultradio just wanting you to know we play 59 yrs of Rock, including this song. Thanks for paying tribute. We think all Rock should be free, and videos like yours keep it that way.

  • this is the song that paul mccartney played when he tried out for john lennon and the quarrymen.

  • i love it so fun

  • This song has a lot of meaning to me because my friend lived in building that had twenty flights of stairs and seemed the elevator was broken down regularly in 1960's. This was Larry's favourite song. We're still fans of Eddie today!

  • credo! a moça morreu decaítada 10 anos depois!!

  • Ford consul ....

  • Mine's a 1961 lowline deluxe.

  • The maid is the most talented in the picture, dancing wise.

  • top tune,Bryan,great vid,thx

  • la colpa è tutta di george martin!!

  • That was Edmond O'Brien on the right, great movie, especially with Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran. Eddie was "over acting" to play the King in that song.

Normally, he was not that animated, but he was great, really. RIP EDDIE, We were distant neighbors in Bell Gardens about the same time.

  • 50 years this april... Yet the music lives. R.I.P my friend.

  • Este filme é "Sabes o que quero", e a atriz, a loura que aparece na cena, morreu decapitada,10 anos depois do filme..

  • Is that the big bopper sitting on that chair to the right? (0:37)

  • he died in chippenham wiltshire NOT LONDON we hold a memorial there every year.

  • EDDIE WAS A BAD ASS MUTHA,This went on for a couple of days but i couldn't stay away

  • eddie died in a taxi accident, london, 1960

  • Thank you very much.

  • love this movie...

  • I love it

  • Nice tits !

  • Thats the famous Jane Mansfield!!!

  • Cheers for that, someone gave me neg feedback for my last commentt? They must be gay because correct me if I am wrong but her Boobs are fannytastic. Too many grumpy homo's round here.

  • Have a thumbs up from me :-)

  • I saw Eddie perform this song live! After that I have always be a fan!

  • tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune.

  • they edited out the guitar break. Beautiful clip though.

  • How come Eddie is seldom mentioned as one of the founding fathers of rock'n'roll?

  • raponte1955- Cochran was great no doubt. But he came on the scene a bit after the guys who are considered the founding fathers ( Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins, Bill Haley, Little Richard Fats Domino and Elvis) Had he lived, he would have been a huge star, and it's a shame that he is not as well known as he should be.

  • ...yeah, don't know why Eddie Cochran isn't up there with Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Little Richard & Jerry Lee Lewis - but he's certainly one of early rock n' roll's architects. Also, when a teenage Paul McCartney met a teenage John Lennon for the first time at a village church fete, he played 'Twenty Flight Rock' to John who was suitably impressed Paul knew all the words and chords. McCartney has said many times "that song got me into The Beatles".

  • it might be because he died pretty early in life and get to much done

  • @Jackson5Videos

I think Eddy is up there status wise.

  • @Jackson5Videos eddie was offered so many chances, in this film he was unknown and even in his second film he still hadnt put a record in the charts, he made lots of good stuff and was obvioulsy liked but took a while to get a hit and once he did he only managed to have a few, nothing big except for his last one "three steps to heaven" it made no.1 in the uk but failed to chart in the states

  • @Jackson5Videos Only because he didn't live long enough to be. He was Great. In his short life. Noticed you didn't mention Buddy Holly.

  • @sirlordcomic ....yes, Buddy Holly definitely an oversight on my behalf! He's certainly in the club of rock n' roll greats and architects... maybe the greatest!

  • @Jackson5Videos that sucks. Eddies name mixed up with that want to be rock and roll.. that is a shame..

  • @Jackson5Videos ...you´re so right man...this is one of the great rock´n roll stories...

  • Sweeet. (:

  • this is awesome

  • Is this actually eddie?

  • @Georgeball2 .. yes it is hun x

  • It's from the movie The Girl Can't Help It.

  • I just did a show...and Idon't get it, but I threw this song on my set-list for shits and giggles, and it ended upbeing the favorite of the night...go figure :P

  • As usual bellgardens53 is correct about it being personal preference.Personally I would only just include Elvs "OF THE FIFIES" because after this he became the King of popular music, never was THE KING OF ROCK 'N' ROLL...."

  • EDDIE tu est le meilleur

  • He was so much like Elvis, but I like both equally, they were amazing. :) R.I.P

  • Typically, lol, the only one that get it, is the black woman dancing, ohh....yeaaa, 'Jungle Music'. Wonder how long this 'fad' would be there/here the old folks asked...well, it's still here on YT and kickin' ass! Go Eddie, go!

  • Wow, a color TV in 1956! Only the rich people could afford one of those back then!

  • Hey the Beatles, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Fats Domino they all were great musicer and you can´t say someone where better. You just can say that the Beatles were more successfully...

  • love this movie...very funny

  • Ritchie Valens

    Eddie Chochran

    Chuck Berry

    Gene Vincent

    Buddy Holly

  • Great performers, I saw them all perform live!

  • 1.elvis presley

    2.buddy holly

    3.eddie cochran

    4.gene vincent

    5.jerry lee

  • Pretty good list though I put Elvis (of the '50s) and Eddie sharing # 1 place...IMHO. Then maybe Buddy, JLL, Chuck, Richard, Fats, Vincent and a load of others but not in any paricular order.

  • No its not a good list. And you putting Elvis and Eddie both at number one is comical, and dumbfounding. Eddie is a little better than Elvis and Eddie should not be #1. Chuck Berry is better than Elvis and Eddie. Most people who think Elvis should be #1 don't know much about RNR. I don't care what anybody says, but I like Elvis though.

How about Big Joe Turner, Link Wray, Bo Diddley, Carl Perkins, Duane Eddy, Ray Charles?

  • So it's comical and make you dumbfounded? "Eddie is a little better than Elvis and Eddie should not be #1" Haha...you think this is some precise science? It's about taste and preference, if you heard about that? I NEVER say that Eddie IS better than Chuck or Diddley or Perkins or any of those great originators BUT it's my preference, dammit. Do you know how stupid it sounds when you or anyone says "IS" better? Like it's a natural fact. Mature, and do it soon!

  • and, Glam, I wrote ...and the rest. That includes many artists like T-bone Walker, Roy Brown, Howlin' Wolf, Hank Williams, etc, etc. And into really important persons/influences NEVER forget Segovia, the spanish guitarist that is the founding father of modern guitar. He, for example used to play Bach on gtr and was a big influence for Eddie C and a host of others

  • Comment removed

  • That's what I said. Did I say it's precise science? No. Preference and taste are the same thing. Yes you did, you may not have said it directly but putting him above Chuck, Bo, etc., says it. It's not stupid, its a person's opinion who's better haha. Let's see you want someone to like your opinion, but when I say mine you get all mad......wow.

Segovia is classical, and he is the father of classical guitar. Only cause you influ. a person doesn't mean your better than the person you influence.

  • white punks on dope women in uniform skyhooks

  • that black slave is yur mother

  • you again hi

  • You wrote, for example: "Chuck Berry is better than Elvis..." IS, is a statement and refer to fact. One can make statements that this man was BEST in that 100 metre race or that the speed of light IS 299.792.458 m/sec (in vacuum) but you can't say that Chuck IS better than Elvis or Eddie; or you can of course say it (as you apperantly did) BUT I said this (music ) is NO science but about preferences. You speculate "etc., says it" Don't speculate about what I think or don't think. I DON'T get...

  • Continue...get mad at all about you having an opinion. If you prefer one artist instead of another, Mozart before Led Zeppelin or vice versa, if you like guys instead of girls, who cares, BUT I do get mad when you write IS BETTER! Can your cortex comprehend that?

  • You've got my buddy bellgardens53 going!!!

  • Easy Ro buddy, easy!!!

  • @AjaxEddiefan Hahahaa...I'm at ease now. OK, I might get going (sometimes) but I cool down very fast and forget. I'm not a person that go around and have grudges for any longer time. Rrrrock on!

  • i cant understand elvis in the lists as musician, he was a SINGER and wrote only one song.

But not so important he was one of the best rock n roll singers ever

  • man, a fuckin great song, that was music you can dance to ;) way better then every modern music i think

  • 1. Jerry Lee Lewis

    2. Chuck Berry

    3. Elvis Presley

    4. Eddy Cochran

  • Who stole Eddie's guitar solo?

  • David Gilmour is no slouch

  • What about Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Brian Setzer, and Jerry Garcia? No list of greatest guitarists is complete without at-least two of these..

  • Comment removed

  • i gotta say i like eddie cochran's sound but my favorite guitarist has 2 be eric clapton

  • Led Zeppelin

    Bruce Springsteen

    CCR

    Aerosmith

    BB King

But these guys you mentionned began it all. So the greatest respect for them al. Especialy Elvis. Great musician. I'm a big fan of his.

  • 1'Elvis

    2,Eddie /Buddy

    3,Everyone else.

  • 1) Elvis Presley

    2) Roy Orbison

    3) Buddy Holly

    4) Eddie Cochran

    5) Gene Vincent

That´s my order. And I also really like to know, what is this movie???!!!

  • I think it was 'The girl cant help it '

  • Yup... The Girl Can't Help It

  • Name of the movie is called "The Girl Can't Help It". It has cameos and the music of a few famous 1950's rock musicians.

  • 1 - Buddy Holly

    2 - Carl Perkins

    3 - Eddie Cochran

    4 - Chuck Berry

    5 - Link Wray

Not always in that order for me except for Buddy. He's always number one.

  • Great list !!!

  • Great 50's list.

  • only black people were allowed to dance like that in movies back then...in the days of seperate drinking fountains

  • Fucking wankers! The producers of this movie cut Eddie's guitar solo completely and managed to talk over one of the greatest solos in Gene Vincent's Bee-Bop-A-Lula.

  • 1# buddy holly

    2# Johnny Cash

    3# Elvis Presley

    4# Little Richard

    5# Chuck Berry

Thats my order! but if it was going on popularity, record sales, and just on the name alone... no 1 can argue really that elvis is top dog!!

  • I saw all of them perform live! Eddie is still my favourite all time artist. I saw in live concert!!!!!

  • wow thats pretty cool how old are u? also what movie is this?

  • if it was not for Elvis, The black lady would not be in that film, what he done for race relations, all humans should be proud. As James Brown said he was a brother.

  • *Elvis was just a poser ! he stole a lot of songs* Ha!Ha! It's funny when people "dis" Elvis. He had an f***ing brilliant voice, brilliant performer, wonderful person (funny, charismatic, sensitive)

+ I think he had great reverence for the artists' songs he covered. Do you mean covered when you say "stole"? Also, there is no law that says brilliant singers and performers have to write their own songs.

  • Haha this video reminds me of watching Tom n Jerry HAhahah

  • rock being a euphamism for another four letter word ending in k of course

  • if you like this song search for " dalyjohnm twenty flight rock ""

this guy covers it acoustic and NAILS it !!! you have to hear him

  • I once took a shit in Albert Lea, MN

  • 1# Eddie cochran

    2# Johnny cash

    3# Elvis

    4# Jerry Lee Lewis

    5# Buddy Holly
