thissss is AMAZINGGG !! :O it looksss SOOO reall ! i just started oil painting this month and i honestly hope that one dayy ill be able to paint like youu!!
@PantheraAtrox hi, it's Old Holland mostly. I also have a few tubes of Williamsburg. I think in this one I used some acrylic varnish to seal the board. The board is rough enough to still provide a tooth for the paint afterwards..
@josvanr , thanks, you're one extremely good artist with a VERY straight and accurate "eye". The rim of the glass in this painting was perfectly balanced.
Is it so shiny because of white oil paint? It looks like a real light color. How do you get it so white and so smooth?I know how to make a fruit lighter but usually it looks like it was in the beginning of your painting till 3:50.when you put only first lights..is it possible to get that result with just putting the right color to the right place?
@MegaFerrux you mean the highlite on the cherry? There's no trick. Most important thing in painting from observation is to keep asking yourself the questions: what hue / saturation / value am I seeing, and how are they positioned relative to eachother. When you get this right it will look right....
@ginddle This one was mdf primed with house brand gesso of a local art store. Its unique stuff. Don't know if one can order this on line. see .pro-art . nl... About the marble, i don't know, not particularly fond of it. Besides, where do you get marble?..
@josvanr gotcha. and I'm 90% possitive you can get a slab of marble at a hardware store for cheap. or maybe some sort of stand made of marble? I saw this picture by sir lawrence alma tadema in the phily art museum called " a reading from homer" and the texture he got was awesome. I just feel like it's something you could paint well. either way, I'll be tuning in to the rest of your vids.
Hi. Quick question... In a previous comment you said your paintings are mainly wet in wet. If so, how do you get such crisp lines, especially when you overlap the paint? Like in the cherry stalks?? Thanks.
@alyradia in this case the background was already dry. But its no problem wet into wet if you use the right brush and the layer of paint isn't too thick. Also use good quality paint (rembrandt eg, or old holland)

What brand of paint do you use? What do you treat the board with before you paint on it? And what BRAND?

Those cherries looked so real thought they were going to spill out of that vase when you tilted the board.

@MegaFerrux yes, the perception of light in a painting, volume etc are all coded in the hue/value/saturation of the paint....

Amazing!
How did you do that at 3:50?(or 51)

Why is there always noise in the background, just wondering. Do you paint in an open area where people are?
