Damn! I had tears in my eyes! I am reading a biography currently on John, and this song symbolizes the rejection he saw from his parents, Freddie, and Julia. Julia had John out of wedlock, and in those days that was a big no no. Freddie meanwhile went to sea as a steward on a ship, and was always at sea, and never got to see John. Julia was tragically killed by an off duty policeman hitting her with his car, and John tried to reconnect later with his father, but it didn't work.

I think this song is pretty dreadful. I LOVE John Lennon and totally think he was a genius.
