Nope .. Some projects don't require straight and perfect wood because they will be either cut so small that it don't matter, used as wall braces that will be covered up by sheet rock, or for any other project that does not require perfect wood, ie, chicken coop.
I actually buy the curved wood left over from Lowes at 50% off. It can still be used for building projects but not long straight stuff. Every since the housing bust starting in 2006, straight wood is easy to find. During the boom most good 2x4 were offered first to contractors and sent overseas. In 2006 I wold find 1 nice 2x4 for every 20 at lowes and homedepot. They were selling rocking chair bases as first quality wood. They were also 30% more expensive.
Dan I love watching your videos man but I feel that I have to do this as a 20 year carpenter, If you send me and address I will personally purchase you a fat max tape measure and send it to you!! I have used Fat Max since they first came out and I feel they are the best, also I will throw in a pack of pencils too. Please dont take offense to this I just wanna help.

This is something i'm always curious about when i hear people talk about proper wood selection.
If everyone selected wood that was straight and perfect, what ultimately happens to the wood that isn't straight and perfect?
Surely if you don't select the flawed wood - that just means someone else is forced to use it.
