I have been through the regenerations of all the doctors since Tom Baker and this has been the reaction each time. "Will this be as good as TB?" (Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Slyvester McCoy, etc.) Well, the Doctor has always delivered for almost 50 years by keeping the character fresh. I am looking forward to Matt Smith's take on the character and how he deals with a 900 + yr old character.
LOVING the look of the new doctor! And with a spanking new writer working on the show with an excellent back-catalogue, this has the makings of one of the best takes on the franchise yet. Lets just hope it lives up to the promise!

He's definately bringing River Song back. Possibly (and hopefully) Jenny as well, as he chose to have her resurrected. He said he wasn't against bringing Jack back, but no other regulars. I loved Christopher Eccleston, I grew to love David Tennant, so I'm sure Matt Smith will grow on me as well. I'm excited for the new season but unsure about how this trailer features Smith punching a guy and shooting a couple of guns. I'm all for the Doctor being as bad-ass as ever and all, but I love this show because they only use violence as a last resort. I love the Doctor because he always talks he way outta things, using his brains not violence. I hope the new series will stay true to this
He's done worse than punch before i.e. he's attempted genocide on the daleks 3 times now, the cybermen once, pushed someone into an acid bath, killed someone with cyanide, held a gun in Davros's face in an attempt to execute him, punched various evil human and non-human bastards, killed with a ray gun, had at least 2 sword fights, assaulted numerous people with aikido. I could go on. The man who never would bullshit is just that, bullshit.
Maybe he just meant his Tenth self would never shoot anyone. Or maybe the Doctor was just against shooting anyone after all the killing he did in the Time War. Who knows?

I thought it was really good ... but I think that s4 will always remain my favourite cos of David and Donna ... she was my favourite companion. And there was just something about that series that drew me in ... it wasn't just a TV series, it was like a whole nother world that I could slip into. Whereas the latest series has just been ... a series
The thing I love most aibout this show is how it always manages to stay so fresh. Unlike other shows where the characters stay the same and eventually its the same all the time.
My advice for Smith, don't overextend your stay , or leave to early (Eccleston). Leave us wanting more
I loved Christopher Eccleston as the doctor (I think everyone loves whoever they watched first) and it didn't take me long at all to absolutely love david tennant as well. I really liked Rose, but once Martha Jones came along I got over it and it was refreshing. Same with Donna (whom I surprisingly love the most). It's rare for a series to introduce new people every two series and still have you enthralled. Can't get enough of it!
Unlike you(themarycity) i hate the fact that they have introduced loads of charchters to the series and removed others, its fucking annoying, if you actually now your doctor who facts, you will know that the docter only has 13 regenerations before he basically dies, on his 13th he wont regenerate and if the BBC make some sort of stupid idea to push there way round it, im never going to watch it again.

When I first saw him, I was like, "NO!!!" But the more I see his face, I like him more and more. ^^ I'm looking forward to seeing Matt as the Doctor. David was brilliant - yes - but he had his run. I'm looking forward to something new. The Doctor is always changing. ^^
The weird thing I like about Matt is that he looks different in every shot, like every single angle you look at him from he looks totally different. More Alien. I always liked it when the Doctor's mixed their performances with the slightly Non-Human-ness. Tenant was by far the most human Doctor (Quoting "The Lion King" etc). Most of the former Doctors had a strangeness about them, and I'm glad it's continuing.
It's not a bad choice phrase, although completely ruined for me by the film Airplane where someone jumps out of a plane shouting "Geronimo", followed by a Native American man shouting "Me!"
I would think that this trend of growing younger will meet a sudden end at the thirteenth life. Where the Doctor will lose his mind, fearing death and unable to cope with all the baggage he has brought.

Starting from the First Doctor, each regeneration has been younger (at least trending that way) in appearance. I think the Twelfth Doctor will be in his late teens.

He was amazing in Party Animals and The Ruby in the Smoke/The Shadow in the North... and he has such an attractive face - not clasically handsome by any means but it has this quality... and the fringe is an epic win, i love it XD
I think this dalek episode may pay strong homage to genises of the daleks as Moffat seems to love the old skool aspects of dr who and the way it's set in world war 2 genises was essisentialy futuristic take on world war 2 maybe davros will return! Also hope the new tardis interior is good as the last one was brill!

I think that Matt Smith will be a great doctor. He seems to revive some stuff of the old doctor who, like the 3rd and maybe 4th doctors. He's fixed the TARDIS chamelion circut, and it's got the st johns ambulance symbol, just like the first doctor.
This is really interesting, they seem to have some classic, or based off classic, monsters. I really can't wait to see this season .:dies at the thought about how long I have to wait for this is aus:.
I'm definitely not going to judge Matt Smith before I watch an episode with him as the star, but thinking about someone other than David Tennant is making my brain fuzzy. Then again, I loved Nine and it was weird transitioning to Ten. I guess I just need a few episodes to adjust.

I'm disappointed that the new doctor suddenly is relying on his fists and a gun. That's utterly ordinary and unimaginative. And not really faithful to a long-standing deeply held characteristic of the Doctor: he's smart and talented enough to find more inventive means to do what needs doing.
i agree, steven moffat will be taking over and he is the genious that brought us 'Blink', 'the girl in the fireplace', 'The Empty Child'/Doctor Dances, and the incredible 'Silence in the Library'
Don't worry, I'm from 2013 and can confirm that Smith is a great success. He becomes so successful, in fact, that the BBC transform Christmas 2013 into a Matt Smith-fest, with him presenting Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Jackanory, starring in Hamlet and featuring on BBC idents. And they're going to spend the next two years dramatically building up to his regeneration. Geronimo!
Was apprehensive at first when tennant took over from Christopher ecclestone, but was def wrong about that. I'll give this new guy a chance, however tennant has left a big tardis to fill!!

im sorry but no david tenant means i wont be watching this guy looks like he has down syndrome his head is fucking huge. Im sad david wont be coming back. the last series finale had a really sad ending with him alone on the tardis. Ah, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of the new DW logo. It's seems extremely trendy, which means in a few years it'll look outdated and old. I really loved the 9th/10th logos, as they seemed really timeless to me.
If anyone is confused, look up the logos for, say, the 4th doctor. It was the cool and modern thing then, but obviously as time went on the logo became archaic.
It's just the impression the new logo has on me. I may be wrong (and I hope I am), but that's my take on it.
We wait so long for the Doctor who special to come on then it ends then you have to wait like another 3 - 6 months for they next fuckin series to come on which is only like fuckin 10 episode!!!!

Starting from the First Doctor, each regeneration has been younger (at least trending that way) in appearance. I think the Twelfth Doctor will be in his late teens.

I think this dalek episode may pay strong homage to genises of the daleks as Moffat seems to love the old skool aspects of dr who and the way it's set in world war 2 genises was essisentialy futuristic take on world war 2 maybe davros will return! Also hope the new tardis interior is good as the last one was brill!

I think that Matt Smith will be a great doctor. He seems to revive some stuff of the old doctor who, like the 3rd and maybe 4th doctors. He's fixed the TARDIS chamelion circut, and it's got the st johns ambulance symbol, just like the first doctor.

I'm definitely not going to judge Matt Smith before I watch an episode with him as the star, but thinking about someone other than David Tennant is making my brain fuzzy. Then again, I loved Nine and it was weird transitioning to Ten. I guess I just need a few episodes to adjust.

I'm disappointed that the new doctor suddenly is relying on his fists and a gun. That's utterly ordinary and unimaginative. And not really faithful to a long-standing deeply held characteristic of the Doctor: he's smart and talented enough to find more inventive means to do what needs doing.

Don't worry, I'm from 2013 and can confirm that Smith is a great success. He becomes so successful, in fact, that the BBC transform Christmas 2013 into a Matt Smith-fest, with him presenting Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Jackanory, starring in Hamlet and featuring on BBC idents. And they're going to spend the next two years dramatically building up to his regeneration. Geronimo!

Ah, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of the new DW logo. It's seems extremely trendy, which means in a few years it'll look outdated and old. I really loved the 9th/10th logos, as they seemed really timeless to me.
If anyone is confused, look up the logos for, say, the 4th doctor. It was the cool and modern thing then, but obviously as time went on the logo became archaic.
It's just the impression the new logo has on me. I may be wrong (and I hope I am), but that's my take on it.
