@Glinkaism1 Wow, you're actually right. I'm genuinely impressed. Under Regan., CA went from 20th to 13th in personal income tax collected & from 4th to 1st. per capita revenue from corporate income taxes.
Reagan increased federal spending by 53%, added 250,000 new gov't employees, expanded the War on Drugs, created the "drug czar's office," & debased your 1980 dollar to 73 cents. Carter's $74B deficit ballooned to $155B under Reagan who imposed a 100% tariff on selected Japanese electronics.
@yakyakyak69 Ronnie was stodge of the super rich. Guys like Walter Annenberg and Lew Wasserman, both billionaires. It is no coincidence that the Annenberg Foundation started a veneration shrine to Ronnie. And Lew Wasserman was head of MCA, the most powerful movie company in the world. "You cross Lew and you he'll screw" was the insider caveat.
He raised taxes 11 times (ALL on the poor and middle class), he is responsible for making the U.S. a debtor nation, he tripled the national debt, he ran an illegal and impeachable shadow government, he exchanged arms for hostages, he did nothing as unemployment shot over 10 percent, he did nothing to reign in the AIDS epidemic, he de-regulated the savings and loan industry . and, oh yeah, his chief budget person has already come out and said his entire economic policy was a fraud.
"The problem is the deficit is -- or should I say -- wait a minute, the spending, I should say, of gross national product, forgive me -- the spending is roughly 23 to 24 per cent. So that it is in -- it what is increasing while the revenues are staying proportionately the same and what would be the proper amount they should, that we should be taking from the private sector." (Oct 1987, Ronnies first press conf. in seven (!) months on a question about whether taxes should be increased)
This view of a timid, almost reverential press corps was shared by others in Reagan's PR team-- notwithstanding their often disingenuous complaints at the time about liberal bias. In "On Bended Knee: The Press and the Reagan Presidency," author Mark Hertsgaard quotes former Reagan Communications director David Gergen as saying, "A lot of the Teflon came from the press. They didn't want to go after him that toughly."
At a disjointed 30-minute news conference in June 1986, the President served up consistently muddled answers (aides had to immediately "clarify" several of their boss' claims), but no reporter present was willing to ask publicly what was wrong. None were willing to say that the President had no clothes. A top White House official privately marveled to the Los Angeles Times about "how easy the press was on him" and said that reporters treat Reagan "almost reverentially."
Please, don't talk nonsense! Reagan has absolutely nothing to do with "police states", on the contrary he spent all his life fighting against them and defeating them.
For a movement that claims to hate communism there sure are a lot of similarities between them and the old soviet communist party and the current North Korean government. A strict authoritarian mindset, warmongering, rampant corruption and the need to live in an ideological fantasy world while everything crumbles around them. I'm surprised they they didn't preserve Reagan's corpse and put it on display.
In her book "Reporting Live," former CBS White House correspondent Lesley Stahl writes that she and other reporters suspected that Reagan was "sinking into senility" years before he left office. She writes that White House aides "covered up his condition"-- and journalists chose not to pursue it.
Stahl wasn't the only reporter to hold back. Nor were her bosses at CBS the only ones to pressure journalists to soften their coverage of Reagan, both of his policies and his person.
@arnie72 -- I have to say that is BS. The lefty press disliked Reagan and would have pounced on him if they had any suspisions about his health as Lefty Stahl's book suggests. Pure bull-roar.
During Reagan's 1988 Moscow summit with Gorbachev, the New York Times noted that the President had fallen asleep at a meeting with Soviet dignitaries. The Times subtitled the article: "REAGAN IMPRESSES SOVIET ELITE." Two days later, another summit-related article in the New York Times attributed this quote about Reagan to Britain's Margaret Thatcher: "Poor dear, there's nothing between his ears." The article's headline: "THATCHER SALUTE TO REAGAN YEARS
The man set this country up for financial ruin and domination by the religious nuts, why in heavens name would I want to remember him in a good light. Not me...sorry.

President Ronald Reagan didn't worry about compromise. He told it like it was and let others come along beside him, with a wink in his eye and a mischievous grin and sense of humor, he stood tall and he stood strong, and I loved him as a president for it! According to one of his books, John Wayne was his side-kick in standing strong against communism in Hollywood and the world. I thank God for President Ronald Reagan sharing his life with our country and the world!

Thank You Mr. President, trickle down economics was SUCH A GRAND idea. Oh and thank you for shutting down those mental hospitals and ignoring AIDS, those 'other' people aren't real Americans any-who!
@craigdickson At least with Reagan, we knew were getting our "bang for the buck," since he brought down the Soviet Union overnight. This clown Obama has quadrupled the deficit in less than two years, and we've gotten nothing! This America-hater, Obama isn't worthy to lick Reagan's shoes!
Ronald Reagan was the greatest president we've ever had. and have you seen the amount of debt we are in today because of our current president? our great great great grandchildren are still going to be paying this debt off.
Happy Birthday in your eternal rest my friend....you uncovered and set free the flame that burned within so many....To those of us who knew you we need to not only remember your words we need to live them and share them with those who may not have ever heard of you and the truths you spoke of your whole life Ronald Wilson Reagan.
alot of people are loooking for the next George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, the next Ronald Reagan he or she will emerge very soon....very soon
@yakyakyak69 statism? i dont think reagan took over car companys or socialized heath care?etc. etc. thats statism! yeah the debt grew under reagan......but he grew the gdp by 8 trillion dollars also because he got govenment the fuck out of the way of the american people! and the reason why debt grew under reagan was the millitary build up too stop the commies!, which i know too the left is hard too deal with! President Obama wouldnt deserve to be a pimple on Ronald Reagans ass!
Mark Alan Travis WE COULD SHURE USE A MAN LIKE REAGAN IN OFFICE AGAIN THINK OF IT IF WE COULD HAVECHANGED THEUS CONSTITUTIONAND I COULD HAVE VOTED FOR HIM IN1988 IWHOULDHAVEINA HEART BEAT BUT IM GLAD I DID IN1984 2 TERMSIS AWSOME 3 WHOULDHAVE EVEN BEN MORE AW SOME
America needs to be reminded that freedom isn't free. Your right to something does not mean it comes without effort. Liberty and justice is still in our grasp, we just have to have the guts to grab it. Let no one stand in the way of what is right - that is what America means to me.
America was a different place in the 80's. I simply want my America back, but honestly I am afraid it may be too late. If you don't believe me just skim down through the comments of many people and read what they say. Nobody cares about anything unless it is something that benefits them the most. Our society has grown into this relaxed state that it won't happen to me, but don't care if it happens to somebody else. Quit blaming everyone else and take some personal responsibility. Get a Life!
Roanald Reagan was simply a wonderful President. The previous message contains just hogwash. Thank you, President Reagan, for having existed and for promoting freedom and democracy all over the world!
@Michele640 Thanking the father of the modern police state for "promoting freedom and democracy all over the world." George Orwell is spinning in his grave.
@Michele640 thank you for arming iran. thank you for running one of the most corrupt administrations in history. thank you for ignoring AIDS, causing needless deaths. thank you for supporting the racist regime in south africa. thank you for raising taxes on the middle class while you cut them for the rich. thank you for signing an amnesty bill for illegals. thank you for scrapping programs on alternative energy. thank you for ballooning the deficit.
@Sportshark what you think we are gonna survive that wimpy bastard there now...whats the matter with you people don't you get it...That SOB would piss down his leg and think its raining..We need someone with balls and don't kiss ass...this country will never be great again..that bastard has destroyed it...we will show that SOB the door here directly.
I believe that Reagan is the Modern equivalent of what the founders would have been like today. So many people say that people today can't poossibly identify with the founders and vice versa. Reagon is important because he personifies the founder's intents in today's actions and language that people can identify with.
@PatriotMuscle First off most Cuban immigrants are granted amnesty because they are refugees. Those immigrants are deeply anti-communist and vote republican consistently 70-75%. Without Cuban Americans, Florida would be a Democrat super majority state.
@PatriotMuscle what you think we are gonna survive that wimpy bastard there now...whats the matter with you people don't you get it...That SOB would piss down his leg and think its raining..We need someone with balls and don't kiss ass...this country will never be great again..that bastard has destroyed it...we will show that SOB the door here directly.
I'd rather celebrate Jefferson, Mason, Madison, Richard Lee, Thomas Paine, Samuel Adams etc. for inspiration. If we want to restore the Republic, let us look to the source of it. Government grew under Reagan, under his veto pen. He expanded the unconstitutional war on drugs. Let us go back to our founders for inspiration, they understood and respected the limits of the Constitution and understood not to have confidence in man, but chain them down with the law.
So how long until you guys dig up Reagan and clone him?

I was a Regan fan but;
Under Regan., CA went from 20th to 13th in personal income tax & from 4th to 1st. per capita revenue from corporate income taxes. Reagan increased federal spending 53%, added 250,000 new civilian gov't employees, expanded the War on Drugs, created the "drug czar's office," & debased your 1980 dollar to 73 cents. Carter's $74B deficit ballooned to $155B under Reagan who imposed a 100% tariff on selected Japanese electronics.

Regan was a Keynesian Statist!

Get a Life!

If you ever need to induce vomiting, keep this video handy!
The Heritage Foundation is forgetting that its actions during this time killed many innocent Nicaraguans.
And didn't his actions training the Mujahadin in Afghanistan create Al-Queda?
Oh, and he sold Saddam Hussein the chemical weapons used to kill Kurds.
This video is an Orwellian Ministry of Truth style revision of a horrible president!

I believe that Reagan is the Modern equivalent of what the founders would have been like today. So many people say that people today can't poossibly identify with the founders and vice versa. Reagon is important because he personifies the founder's intents in today's actions and language that people can identify with.

Reagan Inspired Americans and thus the Economy Grew!
obamie and other Leftists have been Demoralizing the USA for many Years and thus Killing the Economy!!
This YT video explains exactly why the Left can Never change: "Former KGB Agent Explains the Brainwashing of America 1980's".
45 Goals of Communists in USA were Exposed in 1963, and Many have been Accomplished.
Communist Party website lists the Same Goals as the Democrats!!!

Reagan also let so many thousand Cubans into America - which has destroyed Florida. Florida is no longer America, if you've ever been there.
And he also started this horrendous illegal immigration problem we have, by giving amnesty to 8 MILLION illegals before he left office.
No, his presidency was a dismal failure.
He may have been a great man in other ways, but he did terrible things to our country.
PatriotMuscle 1 year ago
@PatriotMuscle First off most Cuban immigrants are granted amnesty because they are refugees. Those immigrants are deeply anti-communist and vote republican consistently 70-75%. Without Cuban Americans, Florida would be a Democrat super majority state.
