What a spooky feeling, I have just sat here listening with tears in my eyes, I havent heard this song in years, and the words were spilling out at me just like I heard the song yesterday. Funny how you never forget someone so gifted and loved as Jim Reeves, my dream was to meet him, my father knew him, but Gentleman Jim died when I was only 4 yrs old, first time I remember crying over someones death. He had the voice of an angel ♥♥♥

I don't think he was literally saying he was half-drunk. That was just one of those sayings he would use, such as "I heard you comin' when your foot hit the bridge," or "It's too wet to flour," etc., etc. So this one was "I'm half drunk and it's dark thirty."

Actually he could be a real bear to work for so his comment to Dean was pretty mild. He was a perfectionist and if you've ever worked for one (sorry I am one) you know that they expect everyone to be able to do it as well, or better than themselves!

Half drunk and dark thirty! gotta love that though. Really who would notice if Jim's delivery was less than perfect. Very few would ever know.

Excellent! This video shows that even Jim Reeves was human and sometimes had difficulties in his recording. More of this kind, please. It shows the way it could be in real life. Therefore it`s a unique document.
