As i've said in today's terms Judaism would be closest to a nationality where you have both an ethnic nationality and a civic nationality (you are born to it but can also join a nation through naturalization). B) Semitic comes from the biblical name Shem (Noah's son) it has nothing to do with "mixed".

Jews for many reasons tend to excel in specific occupations more than others in proportions to their percentage in the population. Just like many other ethnic groups. SOME (not all) is indeed due to personal ties.
