I got this legit, but for some reason I only got the achievement when I the game ended with my machinegunner and enemy rocketeer killed each other in a single turn. It didn't work when only MG guy survived for some reason.

@Gatesofhades Exactly, having 40 coal compared to 1 coal wont even give you a extra percent chance of winning, its about the same. May as well just craft.

Actually it gives u 40 times the chance of winning... only problem is that the chance of winning is tiny to begin with. Instead of maybe 1 in a million (assuming 100 million pieces of coal in total) it would be 1 in 250,000.

Difficult to guess how many people are actually participating and how many pieces of coal there are going to be.
