  • I had this. was a pompey pirates rip I think? hooray for piracy!!!!!!

  • Did you ever get all of those bonus Letter Bubbles?

  • @NicoWilliams09 Yes, I did, usually only happens twice per play through, as the green Es are rather scarce. You are rewarded with an 'extend' (extra life, skip current level) and a nice flowery celebration screen.

  • @JasonLee215 ROFL. My point has been vindicated. Thanks!

  • @JasonLee215 Imbecile? LOL

That's totally irrelevant to the blokes comment and ducks the issue entirely. I agree with bobby, thumbs down.

  • @JasonLee215 You have to remember that an arcade game's hardware is custom built to play each game (or group of games) whereas home computers are built for many purposes. Arcades = one trick pony, but very good at that one trick, home computers = jack of all trades.

I agree that home computers, esp. the ST, with it's lack of hardware sprites and scrolling wasn't capable of replicating the visual prowess of many arcade games, but porting the 'feel' of a game is much more important.

  • @JasonLee215 of course they would be, st will be getting second rate games

  • @JasonLee215 Not true. Both machines are more than capable of replicating arcade games. Unfortunately developers/publishers were usually much more interested in replicating the look of the games for screenshot eye-candy rather than the feel of the game itself. This is most evident in conversions like Strider, where the developers were told to keep the large spite sizes (for screenshots on the box and in magazines to help sell the game) at the expense of smooth frame rates and animations.

  • @JasonLee215 shut up!

  • @JasonLee215 we could have said that about our st games being ported by the amiga!

  • Boo fucking hoo to all those whiney Amiga owners. We heard the same shite with Rainbow Islands - stupid cunts complaining about it only using 16-colours, when the arcade original only used 16 colours!

Still mangling on with the ST vs Amiga after what... 25 bloody years!

The Amiga has a lot of games that were better or simply not available for ST, let us have our handful of faithful classics without bitching please. Why not have a laugh at Psygnosis ST conversions instead :D

  • @stunthumb Ha ha! Yes... Shadow of the Beast anyone?

  • @JasonLee215 Both the ST and Amiga are capable of almost arcade perfect ports. I love this version of the game. It seems slightly easier than the arcade and the way the protagonists fall is different, but aside from that it is a very faithful recreation.

  • @JasonLee215 Considering that Bubble Bobble has no need of any of the Amiga's extra hardware, it seems unlikely that an Amiga version would have been significantly different if coded by the same people.

At the time of Bubble Bobble's release, the ST was a more viable gaming platform in the market, which is why a lot of Amiga games were ported from the ST. That is why there would be no Amiga version without the ST version.

  • @JasonLee215 Or more accurately, the Amiga version wouldn't have existed if it wasn't ported via the Atari ST.

  • One of the BETTER atari games.

  • This is the version I had. I LOVE this game :D

  • I used to play the St and c64 version of this game loads, great 2 player mode.

  • I remember this on the ST, my sis and I played it like people possessed. Finally 7 broken Tandy joysticks later we finally clocked it! This bloody thing haunts me to this day.

  • Ahhh This game had me hooked fer hrs i also owned it as well on Atari St. xx

  • I have to disagree most strongly. It is a very faithful port, the only major differences being the speed at which your character falls, and the slightly easier difficulty level.

Yes the sound isn't up to much, but then neither was the original's.

  • Atari ST Bubble Bobble is a good adaption of the arcade game

Amiga Bubble Bobble looks & sounds more like the arcade game

  • @Mr123JasonLee Thumbs down for that totally retarded comment.

If you search amiga bubble bobble you should be able to find the amiga version video you are looking for... (*facepalm*)

  • I used to use Steem and a program called SnagIt which captures the video and audio. I recently switched to Linux and I'm struggling with sound servers and all that tosh trying to get vids with sound!

You obviously have windows so give SnagIt a try.

  • ok ill give it a try, sorry for the late answer i didnt know you reply to my post, thx for the advice ^^

and good luck with your Linux system :)

  • No joy with Linux, so now I have a dual boot with Linux for surfing, music etc. and Windows XP for emulation, Snag-It, games etc.

  • i see you use steem, how do you record it? which program do you use?

Cause im using Fraps and it dont work with Steem, the record dont launch and i dont know why.

I'm using Saint to make videos but i prefer by far Steem so thats why i ask this.

    Thanks in advance :)
