  • You got your OWN HAL! Wow! I give you credit for doing this. It's a mighty tough proposition to do - and without Mr. Kubrick et. al's input), you do VERY admirably. Kudos!

  • haha nt .. if it's live - respect ;)

  • lyle!!

  • haha.... hey

  • love the hiccup

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAL

    Wellcome to your sixteen!

    (Today is 12th January 2008)

  • I think taking scenes from great movies and re-enacting them is a brilliant idea.

  • i think hal was a bit wooden

  • My Hal was perfect!

  • Perfect like how you LIED about the AE 35 unit? I don't think so you murderer! You just can't keep a secret, admit it.

  • Yes... perfect... because my acting was on POINT!

  • you all did a great job, especially considering it was done in one take!

  • Of coarse HAL 9000 would sound wooden-For a 1968 based computer"personality", MACHINES dint have much CHARM to them...whaaaat? U never saw LOST IN SPACE with ROBBIE the robot?! Hell, even Original TERMINATAR starring Ah-nuld had same performance!!... ROTF

  • I know I've made some bad judgements lately Dave, but I can assure you I'm feeling much better now... Dave?

  • Stop Dave, please stop...My mind is going, I can feel it Dave, I can feel it... Would you like me to sing you a song...?

Thanks for sharing your take on a film that had a huge impact on me and which has remained my all-time favourite since I first saw it back in '69.

  • Um... Why is the music playing backwards at the end? Trying to give us subliminal messages?

  • Agree with cys, "Dave" is overacting like crazy here. He should watch the original film and learn. Frank gets it.

  • I'm going to a class like this july 9th-27th

  • acting is off

    too emotional and nuanced.

  • Cys, the computer controlling your ship and your life is breaking down. (Didn't you hear the stutter)? I'll bet your eyes , as well as mine, would be blinking a mile a minute. Either one of us would be rather emotional. I have been in life threatanning situations. Believe me, it's not like the movies portray. =Stefan=

  • Great job. I really like the performance from the guy who's playing Dave!

  • hmmmm Nice Job:D!!

  • Brilliant!

  • haha :) I like how Hal "Hiccups" after saying that no 9000 has ever made any errors. Awesome video man good f'ing job. Hopefully you'll do more of these. Space Odyssey is one of my favorite movies.

  • very good

  • fome :(

  • Whoa this was good! I HATED the real film.

  • ....

  • What was that for?

  • that guy looks like keanu reeves lmfao!

  • SO does!

  • I am an Eee-Ohh-Dee agent! Open up!

  • The guy at the end nailed that last line "Fine, thankyou very much", the facial expressions were really spot on. Overall, not bad at all as an excercise.

  • not bad. IMHO the David Bowman actor seemed to have trouble delivering his lines (stilted and choppy), but the Frank Poole actor was pretty good!

  • sweet. stanely. wow.

i like the apes in the dawn of man part

  • Nice angle. You kept Kubrick's peace of motion and violence of thought alive, but you did a few things nicely different. I liked the little blink as HAL assures them of the perfect track record, even though it's not very subtle. It's a nice little nod to audience, going "Nuh-uh. They're so borked!"

  • Nicely done.

  • Very good, but what was with hal and Dave at the end? It was weird.

  • I concur! Perhaps a rush job at the last minute?

  • Hey I'm Kyle Chapple voice of Hal 9000... We actually did this live in front of a class, so we didn't get a chance to break or correct things.

  • Well thats not Keira Dullea or Douglas Rain but good effort overall.

  • You forgot the 2hours and 59minutes of silence.

  • the silence in the movie is there so idiots like you can think about what the movie is really ABOUT. I guess that wasnt long enough tho, right?

  • Stanley Kubrick is one of the greatest directors of all time, with films like Eyes Wide Shut, and the countless indies he helped starting directors out on being timeless classics.

  • You did this pretty well and I was just saying that the film had a lot of silence. Which it did. It was an amazing piece of irecting and cinemetograpy, but there was much silence. You took it wrong. And the silence isn't there for idiots. It's there for the actions the characters are performing to be emphasized, as well as to give the feeling of the vacuum of outer space.

  • I know that, man. Your comment was pretty vague, and seemed unreasonably negative to me. Perhaps clarification as to what you mean would help stop this kind of confusion, or is that what your going for?

  • Nope, just didn't have time to elaborate like I did on my last two.

  • The wiggatrigga 9000 has never made an error. the 9000 has a perfect operational record. any error that has occurred is a human error.

  • creepy computer

  • You make some of the best videos.

  • Nice. I was kinda sad when it finished. I guess that means I wanted to see more!

  • That's cool. Awesome video, man!

  • now do the rest of this or any SKubrik movie. :)

  • Now do the rest of the movie
