@Fariz79i The Tupolev154 is similar to the Boeing 727. Very similar infact. The differences are very subtle - like the landing gear, the shape of the nose and the tail. The Tu154 is actually a better plane believe it or not. But like all other Soviet made planes, it is very crude. The seats don't recline for example. The soviets built excellent planes and rockets and starved their people.

Pilots were very good but this is a dangerous plane. Way too many accidents.

@dargay The plane is fine - every plane becomes dangerous when you keep fllying it forever. This plane was sold to countries like the Islamic Republic of Iran, Cuba and N.Korea. Blame the countries for the safety record of the Tu154, not the plane itself. Plus, some of the crashes of the Tu154 have been due to bad fortune. One collision in Iran, One collision in europe over Germany for example. Nothing to do with the plane.

@dargay Pilot error is number one cause of accidents, so be more afraid of bad pilot than plane.

When not flown into the ground or into a forest, this is a robust, powerful, and safe aircraft. Also, the Iranian pilot performed smooth takeoff and landing---seemed very professional to me. America is not the only place where people make good airframes & powerplants---It is a big world out there.

@audiracer85 They are relatively good planes in terms of reliability and safety. Among their generation of aircraft, only the 727 has a superior safety record. In terms of operating economics - not so good - crew of 3 or 4, heavy, and with thirsty engines. But obviously they are a sight to see, and in my experience, comfortable to fly on as well.
