my friend has one of these. He likes it, but lookin' to sell it. He's not a fan of the overall quality of the knife. I think he'd like a better steel. And the blade retention on the Resilience is much worse than the Tenacious (on which it isn't that great either)--because of the larger blade.
great vid again might look into one of these did not know this existed and i have owned both tenacious and persistance before , the only thing i dont like about them is the liner lock
never had a problem with them but im not a liner lock fan .
good review and all but you should give some credit to other youtubers. "often copied never duplicated" is kind of a disrespectful statement to other people who take the time to buy, test, and review knives on youtube.
The issue i have with the Delica/Enduras is the part near the choil isn't sharpened., which leaves part of the blade unusable. On the tenacious series, the blade is sharpened all the way to the choil.
You should try and get a spyderco calypso jr. aka experimental 4. AMAZING EDC blade. AMAZING. The stainless version is amazing, hoolow ground, suuuuper rare, and although it loses functionality in handle traction, you gain in "the coolness factor" instead. Amazing knife. I love mine. Try and find one and if you do please do a review. I would like to know what you think of it.
I prefer "Made in USA" hands down......but "Made in China" doesn't have to be a bad word anymore. There's some good workmanship coming from Sanrenmu, Navy, and Enlan these days. The Tenacious, Resilience, and Persistence were probably made by Sanrenmu. 8CR13MoV is very decent steel for the money.
Don't own a Tenacious... why would I pay 28$ for a knife made in china with an inferior steel when for 35$ I can have a Kershaw Packrat, it's made in the US, has 14C28N steel which is awesome and its an assisted opener?!
Just got an ambitious for my son [xmas] and it is outstanding for the money. Where I live in rural western Illinois you could carry any of the three shown in the Video w/o a problem. Now go into downtown Chicago and you will go to jail for carrying too many paperclips. Funny, we don't have the assault, rape, murder rates that the "civilized" city folks in Chi-Town have.
@brianminkc Aren't you the guy who was complaining about the length of Nutn's vids in his latest Buck knife review? Here's a SIMPLE solution...if you think the reviews are too long, GTFO. Its that simple. -- Veri
I'm not so interested in this family's design. My Meadowlark 2 really sucks, my Robin 2 kinda sucks, but my Cara Cara 2 is pretty sweet so far. I'd like to see a Byrd "Police" soonish.
I notice rust seems to be a issue with this family of blades. I'm curious, anybody ever try something like Eezox on their blade? Stuff works wonders for guns, not only is it a great dry lube, but has impeccable rust protection too (one of its main uses).
I will be getting my first Spyderco tomorrow (which happens to be the Tenacious, oh yeah!) and I going to apply some Eezox to the blade to see how well it protects from rust. I live in high humidity area, so should be a good experiment.
Comparable is size, weight, length, build quality to already proven CRKT M21 04. Blade steels are similar. Hey Nutn' go baton some firewood with the Resilience...what? That would be stupid? I'd have to agree. I ordered a Res yesterday. But I don't expect it will outperform my M21 04 Big Dog.
I just purchased the resilience. I don't have a folding tactical knife and for the price I swooped on this. i got this since nutn recommended the skyline and i love the blade. I have this blade for a week now and its easy to carry, blade sharpness is outstanding. 2 things i don't like about the blade. 1) the liner lock needs to be recessed down like the skyline. to easy to bush the liner lock off the blade. 2) mine has blade slop. tried to tighten it up, but the screw wont go any farther .
I hate spyderco, I think spyderco knife are over rated, expencive, this being that with the same money I can get a beter knife from some other brand, yet this craaaaazzy knife affitionado called Nutnfancy maid me rethink and actually consider to buy a psyderco knife, damn Nutnfancy, yooooooooooou craaazy!!!
Hey guys just a heads up for all the crazy TNPr's like myself the RESILIENCE is peeking back out into the market! Just saw about 5 ads on eBay for $42-$50 shipped. Yup... I got one en route. These reviews are even better watching them WITH KNIFE IN HAND :-) Keep up the great work Nutn! Hope to run into you at SHOT 2012
@PharmDoc83 yeah i am pissed cause i saw one for $34 on amazon, free shipping, and i didn't buy it thinking, oh there back now, i'll wait. the next day the price went up ten dollars....doh!
I started watching nutnfancy project just to see gun reviews, I scoffed at the knife reviews, now I have decided to start collecting knives. Thanks a lot nutn lol
I've been using my Tenacious recently to prep food and it's amazing, though I have wanted an extra inch or so, and this is the answer. Combined with the Tri-Angle Sharpener my Tenacious is terrifyingly sharp!!!!!
A man without a knife is a man without a life." A sign at my favorite knife and blade shop The Knife Shack. wish they kept more Spyderco (and other blade companies) on hand to buy, but then again I'd be way broke from buying stuff from there all the time (arrgh!) awesome lookin' blade though.
I shudder at the thought of doing food prep with one of my folding knives. I just can't get past the idea that there's a bunch of gunk getting stuck in the handle and pivot. I think it's gross, and it's going to make me end up having to open up the knife and clean out all the food gunk. I'd rather just buy a nice chef knife or and a blade safe of some type.
As someone who works with knives, customizes them often, I can tell you that that Resilience is really an awesome knife. It's truly a great value for money.
I've never had a Spyderco before (normally because of prices), but recently I have had to chance to order one...and I chose the Resilience....looks like a great EDC...and honestly this vid impacted my choice lol :P
Nutn, Loves your videos and I am a loyal viewer, but this line of Spyderco knives are flawed in design because of the location of the lock release. Upon firm grasp, it's too easy to unintentionally squeeze the release, having the blade collapse on your fingers. I have had them and it did happen to me under extreme usage. Keeping it real. ;)
@ChAnDoN864430 Dude, folders aren't meant for that kind of use. Most folding knives would fail if you went battoned with them. Why the heck would you want a folder for that anyways? Just buy a decent fixed blade knife.
@ChAnDoN864430 ESEE or Becker knives might do you better for wood and baton work, The Becker BK-2 is a pretty good choice when it comes to a woods knife.
@McSnoofee On My Computer this is what it says at top of screen left corner.
Spyderco Resilience: "Big Blade for Bad Times" by Nutnfancy
So much for the Tenacious. I know it's a Tenacious but it says its a Resilience which is the same knive as we all know but has a 4 1/4 blade on it the Resilience that is. Nutnfancy nutting out a bit i think....
O ordered a tanacious yesterday and hope to learn how to spell it by the end of today. I will replace my skyline with it, I think. What stores sell these? So far in south jersey I only see them online. Great review, thanks!
@BkbladzZz it is a spyderco collectors club number.. (like 1-600 for example are reserved and offered to members b4 general release) if members dont collect the blade after a certain timeframe Spyderco send them out to their dealers to be sold, hope that answers ur question mate
Cool knife and I'm really considering getting one, most likely as some sort of IWB backup dealie. But I'm not so sure about the handle cutout as it seems that if you're really squeezing it there's a chance you might just squeeze it closed on your fingers. Thoughts?
I got a tenacious a week ago... I got my persistence today... now i find out i still need the resilience... >.< thanks a lot, making me spend MORE money... <.<
My biggest folder has arrived. This thing is a monster, but not too heavy given the size. Nutn you are right about it for food prep, this thing is better than any kitchen knife we have! Out of the box it was extremely sharp and the pivot just needed a slight adjustment as it was a little tight. Deployment is now very fast, I think the big blade helps with this as it carries some momentum once it gets going. I painted the clip black, as I don't like shiny clips. Thanks for the review.
@AussieMark909 Hey dude, are you living in Australia currently? if so, how'd you get that beast past customs? I had to dissasemble my Delica and Persistance to import mine from my US trip. I've heard customs is very tough with the definitions of "switchblade" and "gravity knife"
@CheepSteal Spyderco's with thumb hole are not considered a "flick" open style of blade, iv had my Resilience inspected by customs and no issues, it also depends on the custom inspector to judge whether or not its illegal, hence why my RAT1 got impounded (after 4 weeks of phone calls and permits im getting it released this week ,as the blade is SOLD here in stores) if it has a thumb stud and the inspector can "flick" it open then its illegal, if they cant its fine cont
@CheepSteal Cont. some online stores are offering to tighten the pivot point if the blade (can be flicked with thumb studs) been sent to Australia to get passed the customs Flick inspection, the thing is no new laws (reguarding import of blades have come in) but they are looking at changing it later this year, so long as it has a thumb hole its fine, take care
@CheepSteal I got mine from an aussie online supplier. Not as cheap as the USA but as you say, customs are get out of control. I'll message you the details.
im a spyderco fan for sure, just fell in love with them again watching the interview with Sal at the shotshow. i dont own a tenacious...but i just ordered one im sorry so dont hit me!

Enlan EL-01. Now that's a tank of a knife!
Ultra budget category price, but verrrry high bang for the buck ratio!

PRSpl4yer 10 months ago
I loves it! Thanks for the review, Nutnfancy! Too big for EDC, but it's a steak knife in my pocket...

I've never had a Spyderco before (normally because of prices), but recently I have had to chance to order one...and I chose the Resilience....looks like a great EDC...and honestly this vid impacted my choice lol :P

hey are you gonna pick up the ambitious?
jokerinthepack1986 11 months ago
Nutn, Loves your videos and I am a loyal viewer, but this line of Spyderco knives are flawed in design because of the location of the lock release. Upon firm grasp, it's too easy to unintentionally squeeze the release, having the blade collapse on your fingers. I have had them and it did happen to me under extreme usage. Keeping it real. ;)
shanwade 11 months ago
100,000+ video views?! Well, that is probably because almost no matter who you are, you can probably afford Spyderco's value line.

i was gounna buy this just for wood and battoning then he said it would fail..it was nutn so crap to this knife
ChAnDoN864430 11 months ago
@ChAnDoN864430 Why would you ever consider buying this knife for battoning? It's a $40 liner lock folder. Common sense man.
m1ghtysauc3 11 months ago
@m1ghtysauc3 good point ill look into frame lockes or lockbacks thanks!
ChAnDoN864430 11 months ago
@ChAnDoN864430 Dude, folders aren't meant for that kind of use. Most folding knives would fail if you went battoned with them. Why the heck would you want a folder for that anyways? Just buy a decent fixed blade knife.
oldannyboy37 11 months ago
@ChAnDoN864430 ESEE or Becker knives might do you better for wood and baton work, The Becker BK-2 is a pretty good choice when it comes to a woods knife.

Great review, thanks!

what dose th 105 mean
BkbladzZz 1 year ago
@BkbladzZz it is a spyderco collectors club number.. (like 1-600 for example are reserved and offered to members b4 general release) if members dont collect the blade after a certain timeframe Spyderco send them out to their dealers to be sold, hope that answers ur question mate
TheDishD 1 year ago
Cool knife and I'm really considering getting one, most likely as some sort of IWB backup dealie. But I'm not so sure about the handle cutout as it seems that if you're really squeezing it there's a chance you might just squeeze it closed on your fingers. Thoughts?

Ha nutn my guess is you wear gloves because you love to paint your nails lol just kiddin man. great review like always.

AussieMark909 1 year ago
@AussieMark909 Hey dude, are you living in Australia currently? if so, how'd you get that beast past customs? I had to dissasemble my Delica and Persistance to import mine from my US trip. I've heard customs is very tough with the definitions of "switchblade" and "gravity knife"
Cheers!
CheepSteal 1 year ago
@CheepSteal Spyderco's with thumb hole are not considered a "flick" open style of blade, iv had my Resilience inspected by customs and no issues, it also depends on the custom inspector to judge whether or not its illegal, hence why my RAT1 got impounded (after 4 weeks of phone calls and permits im getting it released this week ,as the blade is SOLD here in stores) if it has a thumb stud and the inspector can "flick" it open then its illegal, if they cant its fine cont
TheDishD 1 year ago
@CheepSteal Cont. some online stores are offering to tighten the pivot point if the blade (can be flicked with thumb studs) been sent to Australia to get passed the customs Flick inspection, the thing is no new laws (reguarding import of blades have come in) but they are looking at changing it later this year, so long as it has a thumb hole its fine, take care
TheDishD 1 year ago
@CheepSteal I got mine from an aussie online supplier. Not as cheap as the USA but as you say, customs are get out of control. I'll message you the details.
