@flashbuilding It would appear that you haven't spent much time attempting to develop standards-compliant HTML/CSS. Even if a developer does check their app or Web page in IE first, they'll still need to implement hacks and workarounds in order to make certain things work properly. Until Microsoft released a version of IE that follows standards (and older versions are no longer used) this is a reality of working in this field.

The point is that you're not supposed to develop "for" IE,Firefox, or ANY other browser. You ARE supposed to develop according to HTML/CSS/ECMA specs, and as long as the browser renders according to the specs, everything should work out in a beautifully cross-platform way.
This approach works well with most browsers. Even though they were all developed independently, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc all have remarkably similar interpretations of the specs. But IE is ALWAYS the odd man out.

IE6 has big market share but still Google and other big companies dropped support for it because it sucks so badly. When you count only IE7 and IE8 market share, it's about big as Firefox has.
I think it's easiest to build web site with good standards support (Opera) and after that make the browser specific tweaks that big players needs (mainly IE). That way you know it's the browser that sucks, not your code, but suit yourself.
IE is not the most popular browser in the world just because it has the largest market share. How many people use IE use it by choice? The vast majority of IE users don't even know there are other browsers out there.
In comparison, nearly every firefox or chrome user uses their browser of choice because they've tested multiple browsers and determined that FF or chrome is the best.

If you're designing a website of recipes geared towards grandmothers and housewives, the majority of your audience will probable use IE.
On the other hand, if you're designing a website like slashdot geared towards tech-savvy people, the majority of your audience will use FF.

It's not compliant to standards, though. By building websites for IE, you're part of the problem. Build them for compliant browsers and then add IE stylesheets if you wish.

Sorry I am not angry... I just type angry. The gentlemen is still silly in my eyes for not testing on the most poular browser in the world first. Do you disagree? People were jumoing down my throat for saying an obvious truth so I can curse at them. I am not MS fan... I just know reality.

IE6 has big market share but still Google and other big companies dropped support for it because it sucks so badly. When you count only IE7 and IE8 market share, it's about big as Firefox has.
I think it's easiest to build web site with good standards support (Opera) and after that make the browser specific tweaks that big players needs (mainly IE). That way you know it's the browser that sucks, not your code, but suit yourself.

IE is not the most popular browser in the world just because it has the largest market share. How many people use IE use it by choice? The vast majority of IE users don't even know there are other browsers out there.
In comparison, nearly every firefox or chrome user uses their browser of choice because they've tested multiple browsers and determined that FF or chrome is the best.
