good video,is there any 1 like me that is eager to gain knowledge, just like our ancient ancestors, the gnostics.im looking to create a group of like minded people to debate, share knowledge and ideas to better ones self just as ancient greek phillosphers like aristole, plato and scholars of alexandria did.so if anyone is interested message me back.thanks
@METALSTYGIAN I really don't see how Jesus is a cover story, this is not the ancient Gnosticism, this is kind of an insult to the original Gnostics actually. I understand the point of the documentary and the people who believe such things, but they in no way have a connection to the legitamite Gnostics.
@LifeLibertyLove This isn't the documentary, this is a preview for it. Also, If you read Allegro's The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Christian Myth, who's work the full documentary The Pharmacratic Inquisition is based on, then you'll see exactly how this information ties into the Gnostics. At the end of the documentary and companion book, you'll find several hundred sources used in the book and video. I suggest you start there before you toss out unfounded accusations of things you've not studied
@GnosticMedia I understand how they tie in the Gnostic sources to try to prove the myth theory but that was not even the original intention of these texts. I have done a little studying into the myth theory however it involves too many ommisions, meaning you have to omit too many things from the texts we have in order to come to those conclusions. I can accept a verse or 2 being added or edited but to say every other verse is just ridiculous. You can say Jesus did not exist but
@GnosticMedia but my point is in all of this that the authors of the New Testament as well as the Gnostic documents clearly see Jesus as an actual thing not just a myth. The original authors that is in their intentions. The point I am trying to get across is they are using all these documents to make it seem like the original authors are trying to say it was just a myth when that was not their intention.
The truth of one interpretation does not exclude the possibility of another interpretation also being true. If we are dealing with mystical realities here, it seems perfectly reasonable, even likely, that we may discover a multitude of valid interpretations. Truth ought to be multi-layered and multi-dimensional. We should almost EXPECT to find it reflected on many levels. In the stars, in the plants (or mushrooms), in psychology, in other cultures, in our own history, etc.
Perhaps the planets (above) and myths (below) are both "below" in relation to something else? Something may be Yin in relation to one thing, but Yang in relation to another. Perhaps all of this is "below" in relation to a transcendent reality which we may only conceptualize in the abstract (as "above"), with anthropomorphic mythologies, or in the history to which it corresponds? The bard says: "There is more in heaven and earth than is dreamed of in your philosophy," and "All is true."
Gnostic's were not a group of people. We added the plural to it.Do you really think gnostic's sat around preaching gnosis. The secret is in yesod[ foundation] or root chakra. The kundalini snakes are only symbolic of semen coiling up the spine to the pinial gland from the root chakra or yesod.Labeling ourselfs as gnostics to scripture is just like religion. If it flows upward it gives the feeling of enlightenment,If it flows downward It suck's.
The fact is you are suppose to take shrooms, peyote, dmt, and others as sacred and in a sacred manner. It just gives you access to info from the cosmos that normally u cant access. And you can also do this on a vision quest with no drugs but you must admit it plays to much in our life and history to ignore.
Gnostic is one that has direct knowedge of the divine, Gnosis is direct knowledge, While I think drugs are a cop out, and isnt not needed, and will just confuse people more, LSD opens people up, but theres positive and negitive effects, sometimes permenant, but the point is to get there with knowledge, if one gets thier with knowledge, they understand it, and dont go crazy like many on drugs open themselves to. The human body is fully capable of acheiving this without the use of drugs.
EXACTLY, on mushrooms the GOD experience opens up! Your so close to understanding yet a million miles from your destination! The only context in which these stories of world religions makes any sense at all is with the use of entheogenic drugs, google it!
Maybe it has more to do with drugs and the shamanistic experience whic is not a religion persay but a belief system that connects a person living in the Amazon rainforest for example with his own God.
"We're dealing with myth, not history." Funny, it was my encounter with mythology that provided a lens in which to view history. Very often the myths contain far more truths than recorded history does, and very often myths seem to shed light on history as it actually occurred, rather than how it is now recorded.
Hard to explain in 500 words or less, but this is my two cents.
Excellent point. This has also been my experience as well. There is aso the fact that mythology is the way in which early peoples tried to explain concepts and ideas with a limited written or spoken language.
Hello - you seem to post the same message to all of our videos. I'll reply to them all with the same reply:
ALL of our videos - including the only DVD we sell at this time - is online for free. We are also published authors but we put ALL of our book's profits back into our business in order to continue producing more books and videos. We are compelled to put this information online for free because we believe the message is important for everyone to hear.
Gnostic Media seems driven by money and use the speakings of other people who push thier own agenda. Thier website and video's seem to encourage drug use. buyer beware. Alex Jones might be another wolf in sheep's clothing
So was Allegro agnostic in the sense of denying God's existence completely, or was he agnostic in the sense of not believing or dismissing God's existence?
Wow what why are you talking down on me? I just want to know what these guys are all about. I know that Gnosticism has many different branches, but what branch are these guys following?
You guys don't have anything to do with Gnosticism? How come you honor a agnostic like John Allegro, while you profess to be Gnostic believers? And Jesus was real because they found his tomb, it was on television "The lost tomb of Jesus".
of course mythology does not end just take a look at this video from gnostic media they are the masters of mythology-they seem to think that ppl do not read the bible but i do and can see how easy it is to destroy their pathetic attemps to lie about the bible i want them to prove to me what they are saying if thats possible
Please feel free to point out any specific flaws you've found in their work. Their work is very broad. I'm wondering though, did you bother to read their book or watch the full length video on their website before you made this comment? Or do you just believe, without question, that the Bible is perfectly accurate and the word of god?
did not the majority of people who work on the dead sea scrolls and people that work along side allergro thought he was mad man with crazy ideas and followers as none of his claims can be backed up-ask yourself why do you believe in allergro who has no evidence for his claims --the main focus at the moment is allergro was mad and eccentric --
instead of using allergro be a big man and use chapter and verse from the bible to prove your point --allergro means nothing to me -its the new name people are trying to promote--flaw 1 show me sun god in the bible??? or mushroom taking and the other fairytales that i keep hearing--thank you
If you're attempting to defend Christianity by bashing the gnostics well then that's a bit like saying don't believe in the easter bunny he's been discredited by the toothfairy all hail the toothfairy.
Good subject matter...look forward to see where you go with it. I think the koan is a good paradigm for the exploration of the continuity of shamanism, fertility mysticism, animism, pantheism, monotheism, Buddhism and other isms. Myths generate experiential realities! Gnostics peel those layers back, layer after layer, not unlike scientists, seeking essential "reality."

Drugs may give you an experience, but thats it, it wont bring understanding, just amazement, if you want cheap thrills go to an amuzement park :)
Gnosis is more those who seek understanding nature, and whats above nature. To know God, and self.

people also see gnomes when on drugs. it doesnt help them, Gnosticism is alot deeper than that.
IMBUED 2 years ago
Thier name is miss leading, Gnostic means one whos knows.
but gnostic's don't consider gnosis to be what most people would consider knowledge.
Gnosis is the same as Prajna (Buddhist) and Daath (Kabbalah) its knowlede
wisdom, or direct knowledge of divine. not knowledge as most think.

The story of the life of any sage is always written in a mythological manner!
The one who cannot comprehend a Myth does not discover the truth hidden within it.
Whosoever laughs about any Myth that he does not understand, is an ignoramus who walks on the path of idiocy!

"What if mythology never ended?"
From Aristophanes' "The Clouds":
Strepsiades: "You don't think Olympian Zeus is a god?"
Socrates: "What rubbish you talk! There is no Zeus!"
800 years later, Christianity triumphed. You're not enlightened or reasoning enough -- you would need more of a historical sense for that.

Truth will always be fought dilution, injecting a false narrative into the mix. Even better if this story placates the greatest myth, the ego.
