@54janete You know?? Michael was not a musician and did not have a great singing voice so it would have been difficult for him to make in the record business being a young adult. If you look at Stevie Wonder or Prince, these two were accomplished musicians. I'm not knocking Michael. He was one in 6 million..Every record company was looking for the next one and still haven't found him. Prince I've read would practice for hours and he plays some 20 instruments so as a kid, hard work was done.

I too used to think that Micheal's voice wasn't that amazing, until I heard other people sing his song. Then I realized that it wasn't that his voice wasn't amazing, it was that he was making it seem so effortless that I couldn't appreciate just how great a singer he was.

Michael J. did not have the greatest singing voice and most as an adult may agree with me or maybe not. Jermaine had a warmer voice but no charisma. A great voice alone does not make it in the business--there has to be something about the person. Some say opera singer are the greatest and I asked one opera singer if one could sing like Robert Plant. Not the greatest voice but great!!!!

@s77920 All parents have their own agenda when they see talent in their kids to an extent. They want their kids to be "special". I read La Toya's book and she said Joe was a disciplinarian and I think he hit Jackie who was a grown man at the time. But I don't think and could be wrong on if he actually physically abused them as kids which I don't think he did other than a spanking. After all was said and done she said he was a good father to them.
