  • One of the most overlooked albums of all-time. It should be lauded with critcal acclaim. I mean this album was so conceptual that nobody got it.

  • Que bajo eh!?

  • another ***** stars and then some more. Excellent.

  • estupenda esta melodia, saben amigos y TEARS FOR FEARS esta cancion preciosa me relaja y describe exactamente mi comunidad ademas de que vivo en la esquina del tercer mundo al parecer veo todo esto a diario.los amo.standing on the corner of the third world.i deas not arent food.man i never sleep so hard.color madness.we buy for love, die for love.look of old man.the promeses they make.the pation is the fashion.hold me im cryin.hold me im dying.

  • lovely to hear again and nice video!

  • 1 CANZONE SENZA TEMPO.......SEMPLICEMENTE MERAVIGLIOSA

  • @67NEWWAVE calzone è delizioso. =D

  • Wow, thanks jaiblue... and you people here are true connoiseurs, IMHO...

I always refused to believe there weren't litterally thousands that actually got it.

  • I can imagine Roland and Curt sitting in front of their computers and gloating at the numerous praises they read here. I mean, do you still need fame... when people appreciate you that much anyway? They're never out of sight, thanks to youtube!

  • bassist of the song is none other than the great and awesome Pino Paladino

  • Awesome indeed. I have been a bassist for over 40 years and this man's playing makes me cry.

  • Uma das mais belas canções do Tears for Fears!!!

  • wow!

I though Roland was talented but now I think he is some mad music genius. He plays the guitar, piano, sings, writes, amazing voice, arrange his music. I bet he can even read music.

It is a pity he shy from the public eye. You know what they say....out of sight....out of mind.

  • One of my favorite songs from the album.

  • One of my favorite song from the album.

  • AND YESSS, this album like said is a MASTERPIECE ONE, can remember very well, those years, 1989-1990, couldnt go to bed sleep without hearing these meldoy, fantastic, it makes them to upper level of their career, just PERFECT!

will never stop listen to this ALBUM....

  • One of many, many things I love about Tears for fears is how mystical and unique they are. They have a very mysterious and unknown sound about them that no other band could ever nail. They're like philosophical singers, speaking many messages at once that only a pure heart could ever understand.

  • This is real lyrical Creavitivity

  • 03:58 Great bass! Master!

  • this song is a kinda mystical one,i mean the entire atmosphere of it

  • He has an amazing vocal registry. There might be better voices, technically speaking, but the passion and warmth he imbibes his singing with makes him the best singer alive (Tom Jones is up there, too, but I prefer Roland any day). Not to mention his sheer creative genius and his guitar work. This man is pure talent and, if that wasn't enough, he is absolutely breathtaking. Happy belated birthday from a fellow Leo, Roland! One day he will receive the recognition he deserves, but we are legion...

  • This album is a masterpiece from TFF...just finished listening to that song and it is reminiscent of some of Steely Dan's best work...evoking all kinds of images and thoughts in one's head while listening. These guys were on an absolute creative high when they produced this album.

  • Roland is so Gorgeous 1:44

  • I listened to 'seeds of love' like a religion in 1990-91. I was also pregnant at that time, so I like to think it had a positive effect on her developing self

  • roland orzabal is one of the greatest musical genius of all time. for all time...

  • this is a master piece album!

  • 'Color all the madness...for the madness is the thorn that's in our side.....'

This is my favorite album of all time! It makes me sad that such a stunning piece of work was the undoing of Curt and Roland's friendship. Thank goodness that eventually they were able to let go of the past and work together again!

  • I love this song as well, it's so rich and creamy If that makes sense (I relate everything to food I guess) LOL, and the words are like man! i can just TOTALLY relax and yet the lyrics are so deep. I love this band so much waaaaay underrated!

  • This is my favorite off Seeds of love!!!! Just a perfect song. Sounds amazing!!

  • Ah 1989. I was a teenager then. Curt Smith was so cute and life seemed so much more innocent then. Where have the 20+ years gone???

  • Wow.... l'incredibile tromba di John Hassel ( David Sylvian docet... ). Che album meraviglioso... che anni indimenticabili...

  • the bass line it's FROM PINO PALLADINO ,...ACCORDING TO MATRIKABLE!!!!!!

  • Uma das melhores do TFF, simplesmente um clááááásssico! The best 4 ever. Abraços from Brazil.

  • WTF!!! At 2:05 =S ... Creepy picture. Looks like there are 2 ghosts. One mini ghost on the top Roland's head, and the other in the left side of the picture. Scared me out... o0!!!!!

  • One of the best song i never heard! Thanks TxF! And thanks for post, of course...

  • Buen solo de "bass" de Curt Smith en 3:57!

  • The bassist in the recording studio was Pino Palladino. I've read it the album credits.

    Jaime - Argentina

  • yes...it's Pino Palladino...for me the best sound in the world with fretless bass...

  • Where did you get that picture of Curt at frame 1:56?

  • This song is number one to me. Roland sings about passion with such passion! The musical layers, all the voice fluctuations!! Supurb writing! I love this song.

  • My god i can't believe it was 20 years ago this came out. times flies, doesn't it? one of my favorite cassettes ever :)

  • @stl49erfan

cassettes....now there is something I haven't heard someone say in years...... This, album is certainly a good one!

  • Hey Samello, just wanted to say that you have excellent taste to pick and choose the images for your videos. I love them.

    xoButterfly

  • Thank you so much!! =)

  • Hello my two friends! Fancy meeting you here! Rediscovering this beautiful song on this quiet sunday.I spent the morning listening to Floyd so this is a nice follow. ~

  • Hello there. We spoke today for a couple of minutes. We'll talk some more this weekend, okay?

  • Sunday will br great if you can fit me in! ~D~

  • Can't believe i lost this cd when i moved. argh. must be replaced!

  • I really love the artwork used to compliment the music. It fits like a glove! I also feel the photography was very well done beyond good, its supernatural!

  • I couldn't really pick a fave song, so many they are. The extensive list would defeat the purpose of the word favorite. Let's just say Roland is my very favorite male musician in the whole wide world. Today I am specially in love with him.

  • holy words!

  • How about next TFF show on east coast!?!?!?

  • how about a petition? Come on guys, give us a break.

  • That's a great idea, could someone set up a video petition of sorts? Here on You Tube...... and then can I sign it like 100 times. Gotta see them again

  • If your reading this page, you are one of the 3,778 people on this planet that really appreciate TFF for all they are. A great, great band. Period.

  • 3779 you forgot to count me. lets all get together someplace.

  • Tears for Fears are the modern day Beatles... only better IMHO

Melodically they are superb, lyrically they are impeccable. Their dynamics are far superior to the Beatles...

  • @swanier33 I've always said the same, TFF are the nowadays Beatles, but many people will find hat a profanity.

Just in case, I a huuuge Beatle fan

  • @swanier33 Yeah, they are THE most underrated/overlooked band in history I think

  • Hey, now we're 4390!! ;)

I'm sure that we're much more!

Anyway this is a real masterpiece, it's impossible in this shit musical period to listen to something like this anymore!

Totally agree, great band and great period, it'll never come back, unfortunately!!

  • 5,293... and counting.

I will tell you my name but I am humbled by yours =)

  • You're very nice!!

Please, don't be angry with me but now i know your name and it's very beatiful! ;)

It's the same of my dearest friend...there's a great Beatles song from The White Album, i dedicate to you!!! ;)

  • I want to go to the west coast concerts so bad. Only a dream,I'm afraid.

  • TFF are coming to Vegas July 18! I can't wait to see them!

  • i still have my TFF t shirt from a concert nearly 20 years ago! i take it out once in a while. my mom had a cow when i told her i paid $20 for it. never regretted it :)

  • Lets not forget the brilliant production on this album ! david bascombe !! i was fortunate enough to work for him as a tape op at maison rouge recording studios in the early eighties ! Tears for fears a brilliant band ! oleata also made a massive contribution to this album !

  • I'm really jealous!!! Really you did? Bascombe was one of the best producer at that time, i think he produced also a great album of Depeche Mode and he's also a great musician, he composed Laid so low with Roland! The sound of that album is more than perfect, i think is the most difficoult pop-album to be mixed in the history of music! So you have all my respect and a little piece of envy!!

  • Papala... you had the universe working in perfect harmony for you to be that lucky. Channel it back any time you want great things to happen for you. I agree, Oleta was made a master piece more perfect. Roland knew what he was doing. I saw Oleta last May, she brought tears to my eyes.

  • Roland's tremendous songwriting and singing abilities remain sadly under appreciated. Look at the incredible volume of excellent songs he wrote or co-wrote between 1982 and 2004. Even those Graduate songs when he was just a kid are kinda catchy! Roland has not aged as well as Curt lately, though, too much stress and not enough healthy living maybe.

  • Jazzy, you are so right. Can't understand how oblivious to a great talent most people can be. I am not talking about a matter of taste, but the ability to recognize it and appreciate it. The music industry is the biggest culprid here. Their money can manipulate populations and dumb them down in equal numbers. The part about ageing is very complex and you do have a point for most of what we have seen of Roland lately. But sometimes he looks and sounds so great like the good ol' Roland.

  • one of my favorites. Especially if you're alone and can really listen with headphones. TFF will never be appreciated for all they have contributed. Never. Beautiful piece.

  • OMG.....i couldn't have said it better myself!!! The headphone thing, TFF being under-appreciated.....all of it. You are RIGHT ON, my TFF friend!!! :)

  • thanks so much. I'm sure as you know this much you know that Swords & Knives from "Seeds" is awesome too. Not to mention "Pharoahs" ...oh,well I won't get started up on all that. Thanks again!

  • Ah, we are in perfect company here. Much love to all of you.

  • Probably my favourite TFF song too, although Curt doesn't play/sing on it.

Pino Palladino (bass), Manu Katché (drums) and Jon Hassell (trumpet; listen from 2:06) are all unbelievably good.

BTW does anybody know who the soprano sax player is? He starts playing at 0:10, he sounds like Branford Marsalis, but there's no saxophonist credited on the album...

I'd like to say this is their best album, but "The Hurting", "Big Chair" and "The Seeds" are so different they can't reasonably be compared.

  • This album/CD showcased the enormous talent the group has for composing such richly layered songs to a unique voice. I mean, they must use some 40 instruments/or sounds to produce some the special tones of their songs on this, specific, CD. It certainly has a special place in my collection of CDs.

  • the seeds of love - where this song came from - is the best album tears for fears ever recorded !

  • He definetely does those crazy things with his voice. An amazing talent in all aspects of music. It is hard to catch it but it suddenly happens one day after listening to it a thousand times over the years... like I have :-) I think that Roland Orzabal isn't appreciated enough. He should be the king. Bigger than Elvis and those dudes.

  • @RJODLQ I agree, Roland has one of the most unique voices. The slow Jazz sounding tunes really show case his abilities.

  • I agree. One of the most beautiful TFF songs! This whole album is incredible! I still listen to it at least once a week! Just can't get enough fo Rolands sweet voice! Hold me I'm crying, Hold me I'm dying!!!!

  • can anyone tell me what hes saying right before he begins to say ,when we gonna learn....it sound like how far ..bothers me...?????

  • "When we gonna learn? who we gonna turn to? The promises we make. The call for our attention. Compassion is the fashion. Free to earn, our pockets burn. We buy for love. We die for love."

  • thanx but,if you listen 3 seconds b4 the verse you hear roland wailin out some words, i think people misstake it for a harmonica. check it out and get back at me, i know Im not the only one to catch it.

  • It's hard to say, but it almost sounds like the word "melody" is part of it. Or is it "never be"?

  • i worked out part of it, " third-world-melody? or ?family?

  • I listened with headphones on, and I'm pretty sure the last word is melody. But I don't know what comes before it. Can't tell if it's a word or two, or if it's just vocalizing.

  • good ear! i think u may be right - third world melody will have to do! at least unless i meet one of tff's.....

  • On a related note, it's been driving me crazy for more about 20 years, but there's verses in Bob Marley and the Wailers' "Time Will Tell," which are not in the lyrics sheet. I know some of the words, but not all, and it drives me nuts!!! And when I would ask about them, I'd get a response like you got above, where they tell you obvious lines, NOT the ones you seek. I asked once, and someone testily said, read the lyrics sheet! even though I had stated that they are not on the lyrics sheet! sigh

  • lol, thats so true.bcuz i had posed this question about 6 times and people werent getting it! i wish i could help u on marely, but i only know of his popular songs.

  • It's funny, because in Head Over Heels, I never knew what Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal are singing separately in those "mumbling" lines. Do you know which ones I'm referring to?

  • yes! I know exactly what they are saying," nothing ever changes when your acting your age, nothing gets done and you feel like a baby" im glad i can solve one for you!!!

  • @mykalroze

The word you guys are referring to is "poverty".

    BTW, Roland = Genius.

  • one of their best
