  • Oh and @TheOldskoolmovies895 Postman Pat is a stop-motion character which is a form of animation using adjustable models, not officially classed as puppetry and wouldn't have been compatible with the filming of this, which presumably had all the various puppeteers underneath the rows where the puppets are. And I think Poppy from Playdays had yet to be introduced back then and Peggy Patch was still mute, but they could've used Why Bird and did use Lizzie (the black marionette puppet)

  • Wow I've been looking for this for years and like an earlier poster I too thought I'd been going crazy or having some sort of 'trips' when I was a kid. Was it definitley Comic Relief/BBC though? I seem to associate it with ITV's telethon in my memory for some reason and it's never been on any of the comic relief highlights vids or dvds.

  • U can see Charlie chalk down the bottom but I can't see postman pat he was a puppet any one agree and wat about the cat from playdays wat was her name

  • Wow, so many memories popping back in, most of these puppets were part of my childhood. Thanks for the video. =)

  • Great to see ths again - I've had vague memories of it for years.

  • For as long as I can remember (I'm 31 now) a vision of this performance has popped into my head at random points... but I could never find a reference to it anywhere. All I remembered was "everybody needs a helping hand sometime, without a hand Orville wouldn't sing". I thought I was going mad.... but finally, here it is in it's full glory! Thanks for posting!

ahhhh Fraggle Rock! I love that show it's one of my favorites of all time! They recently returned it to American TV on the Hub!

  • I remember seeing this and the human looking puppets gave me nightmares. They are extremely creepy!

  • Around 2 mins in the crocodile says 'A hand job comes in handy'!!!

This was played on kids TV! How innocent we were as children!

  • is there a way to download an mp3 of this song

  • @shadowprove24 you can get the video by going to KeepVid.com then use the program WinFF to rip the audio off the file.

  • 2:06 - Who knew Lady Penelope could drop mad rhymes?

  • 2:58

    Is that Lizzie from "Playdays"?

  • well i think this is fabulous :) hahaha is great

  • Can anyone make out the lyrics during Lady Penelope's little rap there?

  • people often call me lady p of FAB as an actress im a goodun wheras kylies all wooden there u go m8

  • My favorite part is at the end when all the non-Henson Puppets are going "Punch and Judy" on each other and you can see Red Fraggle thinking to herself "What have I gotten myself into?"

  • Excellent video! Can anyone spot Greenclaws?

  • lol yeah about 2:45-7. Sitting in the front. Then squashed by the hand. <3 This video. I recognise so many from my childhood!

  • Do you know what I can't stand, Youtube IDIOTS like you, who go and view videos they dislike and then tell the video owner that they shouldn't have uploaded. STFU

  • Beacuse I for one wanted to see this. Why do you think its sad?! I think it's increidbly sad that you have a low volcabulary and probably thinks cool "hip" young people You Tube stuff is seeing ugly as sin teenagers being prats and watching porn when its only five minutes and you see nothing.

  • Can somebody tell me who are all Puppets that sing, in the order?

I Know Badger, Fraggle Rock, Bean Bunny, Clive the Kangaroo, Sooty and Zippy and George

  • I spotted Edd the Duck from CBBC and Scally the dog from CITV.

  • and where's Bungle?

  • Playin' with his twanger

  • you've seen that shit

  • Where's Basil Brush, Muffin the Mule, Soo and Sweep, and Rosie and Jim?

  • Im pretty sure Rosie and Jim didn't exist then. Basil had been off the air for a while I think. Sue and Sweep though I agree bit odd that.

  • Can anyone explain to me what this is exactly? I don't get it, is it a TV special event or something? I do recognize some of those puppets from UK TV.

  • Yes it was for comic relief in UK. It's a charity that is run by celebrities that provide entertainment in return of money going to worthy causes.

  • So this is a reward for the charity? Sounds good, but is this an actuall song? I can't find no lyrics on it anywhere, so this must be exclusive to the event.

  • yes a song of it was released a while ago and is hard to find nowadays.

  • So this is a reward for the charity? Sounds good, but is this an actuall song? I can't find no lyrics on it anywhere, so this must be exclusive to the event.

  • Oh my god, Ive been rambling on about this half-remembered video for years. I remember being very excited seeing the Round The Bend puppets on CBBC! God bless you digging it up!

  • AAH! cozmo and dibbs!

  • By the way, who wrote this song? I want an mp3 of it!

  • It was done by the crew of Spitting image back in 1991. You'd be very lucky if you could find the MP3 of it on the net. This is a rarity.

  • That sucks, because this song should have been sold. I looked this up and all I got was red nose day, which explains why everyone has a red nose at the end, but what does that have to do with charity?

  • That is the scariest puppet performance ever! Thats exactly what my nightmares with puppets were like, with bird puppets trying to eat me, random scary puppets appearing, and that puppet at the end is cute, but unnerving! Good song though!

  • Just like "We are the World" of the Puppets!

  • I LOVE SPITTING IMAGE'S VERSION OF KYLIE MINOGUE! SHE'S SO CUTE, The real Kylie doesn't do anything for me.

But it's pretty cool to see Spitting Image and Jim Henson's creations together for the first time, even though they're completely oppisite ;)

(1:42) That puppet looks more realistic than Spitting Image. It kind of looks like the young Trey Parker. What show was he from?

Is there a way that I can get a copy of this on DVD?

    _Eric ;)

  • It was from March 1991- Comic Relief day - as i saw it at the time . I thought i was the only person to have seen it!!

  • what the funk is this

  • WOW!!! I've been looking for this for ages! I thought I must have dreamt it cos no-one else I know could remember it!

  • Gawd! I remember this one! I loved the Round The Bend puppets and the others!

  • Was andy pandy taking that bear from behind at 2.05? Thats quite disturbing!!

  • They're playing 'wheelbarrow'.

  • WOW!..I never thought I would see this again,I was there as a puppeteer on the row behind Cuddles performing a couple of puppets from a kids channel,Keith Harris was a bit miffed as he had come in his cabaret togs,it was good to meet up with puppeteer chums & meet others.

Incardently I built the wacky black & white cat (unfounatly worked by a non puppeteer) & the brown dog in the tartan jacket next to him.

It was a great day, thanks for posting this, is it on a R.N.D. dvd?

  • Yes, I saw your puppets you performed, great to hear you were on it in some way or another! Must have been good!

  • Yes it was, I keep popping up on You Tube in things I thought I would never see again. Cheers.

  • Forget the song.....'MONTY AND MYRTLE RAT'!!! The 'Legends' Exist!

  • Thank god people remember dizzy heights and the House Of Gristle. I was begining to think i was the only person who had ever watched them. MORE gristles!

  • ARGH. It's those BASTARD puppets from Dizzy Heights, jesus that used to freak me out so much. urghhh..

  • Those puppets remind me of that Genesis music video Land of Confusion.

  • Thank u so much for posting that. almost made me cry. All those faces bring back so many happy memorys. Fraggle Rock, Roland Rat The legend that is Gordan the gopher, Edd the Duck [Who I have up in the loft some were] and so many more. Also who was the kangaroo? I rember the face but not his name or the show. Any way thanks for this. Will try and watch it again, unless I start crying. Those were the days. It would all be CGI now. Those were really muppet charcthers

  • Does anyone else have any of these old Puppet series on VHS/DVD?

The series Id most like to see are Dizzy Heights, Winjin' Pom, Round the Bend and Chicken Minute.

  • I loooved Dizzy Heights when i was younger, wish there was more about or clips on the net

  • @WozzaFraggle unfortunately i think my parents have given away most of my fraggle rock and even muppet stuff in there move, but had them on vhs. And thank you so much for mentioning Chicken Minute. I knew it existed but I havent been able to find it. That is the one down by a bayou and an aligator who lives in a swamp, right?

Also I do surprisingly seem to have the Gophers on video.

  • Round the Bend was early 90's, as was Dizzy Heights, the precursor to House of Gristle. It's good to see Radio Roo, though Dooby Duck brings back nightmares!

  • Take a look at my channel Andy, Dooby Duck's on it, if you can bear to watch it again, as it's on my video log!!!! LOL!

  • wonderful trip down memory street!

  • Now THAT was unreal!

Seeing that many familiar puppets at one time brought back a flood of memories.

  • Ooh. May have been can anyone confirm?

  • Great video. Though I think it was 1991 due to some of the shows (and Andi Peters on the end!)

  • Thank You for posting this.

Fraggle Rock & Spitting Image, never would have thought of seeing it.

    _Eric ;)

  • Wow - Thank you so much for adding this :o)
