Really good film. Truly does delve into the ideals of the founding Black Metal artists and how those ideals were lost amongst the media circus that followed the Church Burnings and Euronymous's death.
this is a good documentary to show ppl that black metal isnt just music is so much deeper than that.but fenriz said its trendy? idk maybe their in were it was formed but here its despised or ppl dont know what it is
@Oirik83 Around the second wave of black metal when the Norwegian BM scene was coming around there were a lot of black metal artists adopting anarcho-syndicalist ideals, etc. The dude from Darkthrone kinda helped promote that idea when he was on his left-wing kick and protesting apartheid.
@WarrenEth black metal is allready "ruined". Its been a dead genre (with a few notable exceptions, like Averse Sefira, Beherit, Profanatica, ect) since at least 1996. This movie can't kill whats allready dead, but it's a great film. The artists get to speak for themselves without any backwards commentary from the film makers (see headbangers journey). It's presented from the eyes of Varg and Fenriz mostly.
they got a bad explanation on Varg letting out before his time is quite bad. 1 "prison year" in Norway= 8 months. Therefore 21 prison years= 16 real years.
If black metal is about the relentless struggle for real truth and freedom, but postmodernism is about giving up on truth and philosophy in favour of glib social pretenses and campy complacence, then how can these two indy rock hipsters claim that black metal is a "post modern" movement?
Everything must be a "post modern" expression to these two authoritative socialites.
These postmodernist fools clearly do not understand individualism, libertarianism, black metal, or punk.
Does anyone on youtube know how to use google, or any kind of search engine? It's getting a theatrical release within about a month of me typing this.
