this was one of my favorite tunes on my old midi keyboard when i was a kid! today i was dusting off my old keyboard and it occurred to me that i could probably look it up and find out what the actual song is and sounds like. so far this is the only version ive found that sounds somewhat decent and is better than the midi version on my keyboard.

A Han Chinese music student visited the town of Kangding, then the capital of Xikang province (today's western Sichuan), in the 1940s to entertain a group of local Tibetan soldiers who were shipping out with the Kuomintang Army to fight Japanese in Burma. He composed this song based on local Tibetan music. Today, this song is the most popular love song in China.
