Saw these guys multiple times in Minneapolis, always a great show at the small venues! I had the band sign my T-shirt, why I don't know, but still good times!
we used to have their album BR549 on casette. It went m.i.a. YEARS ago. I havent found one yet. It was ironic when we bought it, my dad is Bruce, mom is Rita, I was 5, my bro was 4, and my sis was 9. BR549!
When we did this song in our band sometime we'd sneek in there a "Hey Pull Ma Weena" hahahahaha and I guess noone knew what they we saying back to us!!! :)
@HerbWalker the chords are easy but i cant get that "pluck" down on the bass fuckers hard piss's me off but the guitars easy. much props to the bass player
"Hay-ho Alena, (Hay-ho Alena) Hay-ho Alena (Hay-ho Alena) Well a-hay-ho Alena Wuppup A-wootena aday..." I used to be able to hear this song on some old radio station that had a DJ named "Uncle" Wynn Richards. In all honesty, I thought it was a Junior Brown song, being as the musical styles sound alike, but then the DJ said "BR549," and the song's name, "Cherokee Boogie," I knew I was hooked. I just wish they'd stayed around for longer than they did. Hay-ho Alena indeed!
i remember having their album BR549 on casette when i was little. now i cant find it anywhere. anyone know where i can buy it on a cd or as a download?
Originally, it said "dancing with a squaw called Standing Bear" but it was probably thought unPC to use Squaw in a country song nowadays, which is why it may have changed...I'm amazed at how much this guy can make himself sound like Johnny Horton
BR5 49 did their homework, on their CD it credits this song to Moon Mullican AND "Chief" William Redbird. William Redbird was a full blooded Cherokee born on the reservation in OK. I have a copy of Moon Mullican doing it & Chief Refbird is singing backup.

This reminds me of spending time with my dad, we actually copied a line dance to this song from one of the videos on here and performed it at a big family party and everyone was doing it!
I worked at a club called Whiskey River in Chicago and these guys played there and it was amazing! It also rained so badly the roof leaked and people were slipping and dancing on the dance floor.....great band!
