  • Good, Hank Sr cover

  • Saw these guys multiple times in Minneapolis, always a great show at the small venues! I had the band sign my T-shirt, why I don't know, but still good times!

  • Saw them in 1998 at the Chili Cookoff here in South Florida. I LOVED them!!!

  • Saw them in 1996 at The Continental Club on the same bill as Junior Brown and Cornell Hurd Band! I will never forget!

  • When we did this song in our band sometime we'd sneek in there a "Hey Pull Ma Weena" hahahahaha and I guess noone knew what they we saying back to us!!! :)

  • @HerbWalker the chords are easy but i cant get that "pluck" down on the bass fuckers hard piss's me off but the guitars easy. much props to the bass player

  • "Hay-ho Alena, (Hay-ho Alena) Hay-ho Alena (Hay-ho Alena) Well a-hay-ho Alena Wuppup A-wootena aday..." I used to be able to hear this song on some old radio station that had a DJ named "Uncle" Wynn Richards. In all honesty, I thought it was a Junior Brown song, being as the musical styles sound alike, but then the DJ said "BR549," and the song's name, "Cherokee Boogie," I knew I was hooked. I just wish they'd stayed around for longer than they did. Hay-ho Alena indeed!

  • This band is cool! Thanx fur sharin'!

  • @NateRetherford I have it on c.d. as well as their others

  • Buried3030-- Yes, their name was taken from the Hee-Haw skit.

  • This is a great version of this song. This style of retro-rockabilly really rocks. Fun stuff.

  • Originally, it said "dancing with a squaw called Standing Bear" but it was probably thought unPC to use Squaw in a country song nowadays, which is why it may have changed...I'm amazed at how much this guy can make himself sound like Johnny Horton

  • Hard to decide if this better or Johnny Horton's version...

  • i wish BR5-49 had sung johnny's "all grown up" i just dig that song!!

  • My first day on the job at TNN/CMT, I walked in CMT's master control, this video was playing.

  • did these guys get their band name from the hee haw skit where the guy holds the paper with that number on it?

  • verry nice - geil

  • I've been wanting to hear this again. Thanks!

  • I haven't heard this in ages, remember hearing this on CMTcable channel 14/15 years here in the UK.

  • Awesome song, awesome video, awesome band, awesome everything!

  • Johnny Horton did ths song first.

  • Actually, it was Moon Mullican who wrote it and did it first.

  • @rockinredneck57

BR5 49 did their homework, on their CD it credits this song to Moon Mullican AND "Chief" William Redbird. William Redbird was a full blooded Cherokee born on the reservation in OK. I have a copy of Moon Mullican doing it & Chief Refbird is singing backup.

  • Just loving it
