  • I am a Mr. Darcy, Edmund Bertrum (Mansfield Park) and Mr. Knightley fans all the way. I love them all lol. =)

  • fantastic video! I'm speechless!

  • @ayseal Thank you for such a nice compliment. I think it's about time to make another one.

  • @gsbohn

OMG, another video! Cannot wait, thank you! I hope to see some scenes from Jane Eyre 1983, I'm infatuated with Timothy Dalton as Mr. Rochester :)

  • @ayseal I hope I remember that, I think I have that film. Any other TD films? If I do another one, it will be my third. There is a #2 that you haven't found, I guess. But still, #1 was the best one.

  • @gsbohn

Oh I just saw the 2nd one, brilliant. Some of the best TD period dramas I can remember are Passion's Way, The King's Mistress and of course the unforgettable Jane Eyre

  • oh I love it!

  • @Elizarcy Nice of you to take the time and tell me. Thank you.

  • Magnificent video . Such a great tribute to those masterpieces. Love .

  • @michaimeskinsek Much thanks

  • Wrote down all the movies some i've seen the others i cant wait. Thank You

  • im such a period drama nerd.... i have seen every single one of these movies and not just once but many, many, many times.....

  • Love how the best rated comments are on North and South. I love the Austen adaptations but there is something about North and South that just screams classic.

  • @tigergirljamie7 My pleasure. You may like my Rochester's Love for Jane Eyre (2006) video.

  • Ho la pelle d'oca ...però vi siete dimenticati l'ultimo dei moicani..non so se però è Inglese la produzione..

  • Liked all the vids but the re looping of the music has VERY annoying.

  • Wonderful - thanks!

  • I always had a particular weakness for Mr D'arcy but that north and south guys takes my breath away wow .Those men must be all born in the imaginations of women .....Sadly

  • @EdugeBDroN You, me and a million other women feel the same way about Richard Armitage. LOL

  • Become a fan of period drama movies on Facebook!

  • I would have included:

Ciaran Hinds as Capt. Wentworth in "Persuasion" 1995

    and

Tom Hardy as Heathcliff in "Withering Heights" in 2009

They're beyond fabulous, with their smoldering sexiness.

  • @ducky8abug I know!!! Tom Hardy as Heathcliff is SOO sexy!! *swoon*

  • the phantom of the opera a bad boy??? hummmm i don't agree... :P:P

  • Love it !!!! hahaa

  • Mr. Thornton XD

  • Very Epic. I love it.

  • @Weam576 You're very kind to let me know. thank you. - Genie

  • Become a fan of period drama movies on FACEBOOK!!

  • i must fall in love and marry an english man, american men don't have thoes hot accents nor such beautiful vocabulary

  • love them all, but Matthew Macfadyen is my very fav.

  • Jane Eyre 83' , Mr. Rochester (Timothy Dalton) should have been in here too. He's very handsome -drooling

  • Thank u so much for this video. I love it. xx

  • @perioddramagirl02 My pleasure.

  • Richard Armitage as John Thornton! *squeels*

  • thank you very much for this video, and for including toby stephens..he's the perfect mr r.

  • Gosh! - you must have spent ages putting this together - thank you so much!! :) Much appreciated!!

  • @Shinkansen91 I did spend a lot of time - maybe 60 hours, but I love doing it. Thanks.

  • @gsbohn your efforts have paid off...wonderful job! :) Such wonderful movies!!!

  • My favourite one is Thornton in North and South for sure! Richard Armitage is perfect!

  • What every woman wishes men would be like in modern days. Great vid! Though I personally wouldn't have put the Phantom in the Bad Boys section...more like the broken heart section. Anyhow, you did an excellent job. I've only ever seen 2 of the movies you listed, but now I want to go watch them all :)

  • I've just found this and it's awesome...

so much work has gone into it I know so well done and bravo.

so many handsome men including my favourite Toby Stephens and such an array of memorable moments

Thank you so much for a thrilling 10 minutes of viewing.

    5* and worth it.

    HOC x

  • @hookedonclassics

Many thanks for the very nice words. I appreciate it. Comments like that keep me inspired to do more.

  • This was awesome! It made me switch through so many different facial expressions within just 10 minutes!! I'm telling you, from aghast to dread, to joy, to sadness, to pleasure, all of it over and over again! So cool!

  • whoa...eepic video. hands down.

  • @A9158162 You're most kind. Thank yoiu

  • WOW! So many gorgeous men...what is it about period dramas that makes the plainest men look stunning? I think it was the fact that sex wasn't on display so it was all done with a sultry look or two....Fantastic video!

  • @hevsym Many thanks. There's a follow up vid, too.

  • @hevsym totally with u on that...

  • Thank you for putting Under the Greenwood Tree in there. And the rest fo the vid's great as well :)

  • @Selimanth Love that film.

  • Yes, Henry did get a bit of a bum rap, but he wasn't nice to John at the Expo. How else was I to get North and South in it, without a bad guy. LOL

  • Fantastic video, I love the super-epic music. This is like a list of my favorite period dramas. One little issue I have with it is that you included Henry Lennox of North and South as a "bad boy". He was a rival, yes, but he seemed overall to be a pretty good guy.

  • @austen2gaskell2 sorry, I didn't see that someone else already commented. I am in hearty agreement withcj4sseasons.

    (insert preferred emoticon here)

  • Great list. But what about Little Dorrit?

  • @BBCGirl1000

This video was made long before Little Dorrit.

  • Comment removed

  • uuuuuuu thank you for that, it is great... all the heroes and maybe some tipps of movies i might have to check out

  • no hans matheson? :( :P <3 (love these men too, but i do miss him in here :P)

  • I couldn't help but laugh when I saw you edited the kiss from Persuasion 2007.

  • And oh my goodness! Don't call the Phantom the bad guy, true he killed some people but still!

  • Poor Henry of North and South! He get's labelled the bad guy! Still, Thornton>Henry!

  • I don't if someone has mentioned this yet but James Franco (Tristain and Isolde) is American 2:53/6:56 and so is Patrick Wilson (Phantom of the Opera) 0:50/6:46.

  • This video has my favorite top 3 movies

    *Pride and Prejudice

    *North and South

    *Persuasion

  • @PH7777777 LOL, yes it's been mentioned. I guess my title isn't clear enough. It's not GREAT MEN OF UK - it's really great men of UK DRAMA. LOL.

  • awesome.

  • Epic music rocks :)

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOH, You have picked up my two absoulte favourite men: Anthony Andrews & Richard Armitage.

I would love to see them playing together. Gorgeous, terrific actors! :)

  • thanks you SO MUCH for throwing in Horatio Hornblower (I've had a bit of a crush since I started watching those-- I'm on the third book now!), and I loved the shot of him clasping his hands behind his back the way he does, right in time with the music.

    But...

...I hate to break it to you, but Phantom is French, not British. Sorry!

  • @Mbookfreak Glad you liked it. I loved the Honrblower series. As for Phantom, it's a little misleading. I was showing Great Men of the UK - not dramas about the UK.

    Understand, though. Thanks

  • There's two scenes from men of period drama that stand out for me.

    1. When John (our mutual friend) approaches Bella Wilfer after she stands for her principals against Boffin, and leaves his and wife's house, and John runs up to her in the street and hugs her saying "My brave and noble bella." Magnificent moment.

    2. John Thornton (North and South) when he's in the meadow at the end and picks the yellow flower, and you can see he's trying to make peace and see sense in it all.

    Great stuff.

  • @Woodlander65 the first is the most amazing scene ever!!! I just came back from watching Our Mutual Friend. Amazing!!!!!!!

  • i so love the background music and also the details in the video!!!

  • @shizamalik2 Thank you. It's getting time to make a 3rd one.

  • @gsbohn looking forward to it........ thnx for the reply!!!

  • ma questo video e' fantastico..assoluti complimenti

  • woow..in the phantom of the opera i would put raoul to the villains and the phantom to the good ones....i loved him!;-;

    but still: great video^^

  • Great video, but the scenes that are marked "Mansfield Park 1999" that's wrong, thouse are scenes from Emma not Mansfield Park, just wanted to let you know. :)

  • @g1991231 I am afraid to disagree. Yes, Johnny Lee Miller starred in Emma, AND Mansfield Park 1999 as Edmund. You'll notice this video was before the recent Emma ever came to the screen.

If you like JLM try renting Mansfield Park, 1999 - personally, my favorite version.

  • Your period drama video clips are always fantastic and the music is once again very well chosen. I am a fan of your clips. Congratulations !

  • @Belgianladyful

Much thanks for the nice words. Glad to hear your a fan, because I enjoy making them for folks that like this genre.

  • @gsbohn Thank you for replying to my comment. Please never stop doing what you do. It is a real pleasure watching you period drama video clips. I have seen some of the movies you use in your clips, but not all of them. You give me the desire to hire one of these movies on a DVD and watch it at home.

  • Great work!!! How did you do it?!!!! And the music is great too

  • @missMagbeth

Little hard to explain how I did it. I just took clips from some of my collection. The music was from Lord of the Rings.

  • @gsbohn

Actually, the music is from Requiem for a Dream.

  • Ωραία δουλειά ΜΠΡΑΒΟ .

  • Daniel Deronda is my FAVE

  • Such an amazing video! Great work. Most of these men are very, very nice to look at, but I have given my heart away to someone not included (oh, I understand the 10 min restriction, do not get me wrong I am not complaining) namely Mr. Rochester from BBC's Jane Eyre 1973 - Michael Jayston. The eyes and the voice, I find them totally irresistible. :-)

  • @domramalaja

I'll have to rent that movie and see what you do. Thanks for the comment.

  • I`v heard this song on a period drama movie, can someone tell me which?

  • @LilianaCroush

It's a peice of music used a lot.

'Lux aeterna' (requim for a dream) full orchaestral remix by Clint Mansell

  • My top fav on this list:

    1. PHANTOM<3

    2. Mr. Darcy (2005)

    3. Mr. Wentworth (Persuasion)

  • I really like this! And there are a few movies I haven't seen that I want to see now. What is that great music playing? Thank you!

  • @nsn73 'Lux aeterna' (requim for a dream) full orchaestral remix by Clint Mansell

  • @MoonPhase94 Thank you

  • wow!!

me tiemblan las rodillas, son tan guapos

    XD

  • This was great. But I have to say, you gave Henry Lennox (North and South) a bum rap, putting him in with the bad guys. He just loved a girl who couldn't love him back. Poor Henry. lol

  • I didn't like the way he needled JT at the World's Fair.

  • He was a little condescending, but I didn't see it as needling. I didn't like Henry, but I did feel sorry for him at the end. lol My fave in that movie was actually Nicholas Higgins.

  • Try to rent a movie called "The Glass Virgin" by Catherine Cookson. A young Brendan Coyle is the main lead. Love it. Stars Emily Mortimer, too.

  • @gsbohn I have watched "The Glass Virgin" a number of times. My favorite of Catherine Cookson's.

  • @gsbohn I guess I was a little more on Henry's side because I had read the book, and in the book, he tries really hard to be kind to Mr. Thornton, even if he does look down on him some. But yeah, in the movie, he does treat him badly.

  • @cj4sseasons haha I thought the same thing when I saw this.

  • @cj4sseasons i totally agree with you!!! i was seriously about to comment the exact same thing... hah! =D

  • @cj4sseasons WOW!!

    Thanks for the comment.

  • @cj4sseasons Have to agree. Poor Henry...

  • I love you for making these, I think i've watched every video you made, thank you :)

  • How very kind of you. Thank you. All the work is worth when I hear from someone like you.

  • ohhhh, persuasion!!!

  • this all film soo good i love everything

  • You can find decent men everywhere I think, but sometimes you have to look very hard. But we women don't have to make such high expectations, especially if you have these men as reference. These men don't exist, that's why these films and series are so popular with women. We like to dream.

  • :) i found one, i didnt look

  • @geminiklara I have to disagree,,,,some ok really dont exist but others do (not exactly alike, but really similar) ;)

  • It's funny how everyone says they want to move to the UK to find a nice British man . .and yet I live here and can't seem to find a decent one! lol

Maybe It's just the area I'm from .. but most British men are not like these guys! xD

  • hahaha you're right!! they're all chavs and gangster wannabes....and they all seem to think we enjoy sitting around waiting for them to finish playing xbox or watching football lol :D but i'm sure mr darcy has to be out there somewhere??? please???? :D lol

  • lol

  • @SlytherinPrincess91 its sad but you wont find a man like these men in this day cause they simple dont exist in the present day but maybe i am wrong and they do exist but they are already taken by a few lucky ladies.Thank God for films so we can still dream

  • Bless you for putting this up here i love all this movies :)

  • SO many men, so little time! Dibs on Darcy, Brandon, Phantom, and Rochester hahaha!

  • oh man i wanted darcy :(

  • HNNGG.. I LOVE Jane Eyre and North and South. Great video!

  • There's no TV like BBC .6°°

  • I know! :D

  • well done gsbohn - phew!!! I do love British men!

  • "Thank you much. I hope you like the other ones, too.

  • that was very good!

i love all these movies, esp. pride and prejudice 2005 and north and south (:

  • Thank you for letting me know.

  • me gusta mucho este video, porque es muy importante que pongas el nombre de las peliculas, asi yo puedo buscar por su nombre la que me llame la atencion

  • thank-you for making this video, it's amazing!

a great tribute to british period-drama and its actors!

the choice of music and clips are superb

    xXx

  • Thank You So Very Much! A magnificent video that displays your great depth of feeling and talent.

  • Your comment is much appreciated. Thank you.

  • That was a treat! I love British drama. Thanks so much. You did a great job of the cuts and the captions. The music is superb!

  • Thank you. NIce of you to take the time and comment.

  • you're great. really.

  • How nice of you to say. Thank you. It's nice when you love what you are doing - I guess it shows.

    Genie

  • What is this music?

  • The music is excerpts from Clint Mansell's "Requiem of a Dream". "Requiem for a Dream Overture" and "Summer Overature". You may have heard it from Lord of the Rings.

  • it is in the Lord of the Rings too?! I didn't know that. Cool.

  • so many!I MUST watch them all now..thank you so much

  • Henry Lennox was a sweetheart in the book. He loved Margaret but he knew she loved Thornton...he was the one that finally got them together.

  • What a history you have compiled!

  • Oh, thank you. And I only scratched the surface.

    LOL

    Genie

  • Henry Lennox as a bad guy - too funny!

Was that Jeremy Irons in Brideshead revisited??

    Nice job Genie!

    JE

  • Remember how Lennox tried to embarrass John at the Trade Show... that's why he's bad. LOL

Yes, to Jeremy Irons. That Brideshead was by far the best one. Original was 12 hours of film.

  • Henry from North and South is not a bad boy.

  • I just love this kind of movies^^

  • Thank you very much.

  • Did I just miss him or did you leave out Mr Guppy from Bleak house? He's one of my particular favourites so I found it quite sad not to see him. ;_; Nice video, though!

  • No, you didn't miss him. He's not in this one, but I do have him somewhere else, and can't remember which vid it was. Sorry. I like him too, Burn Gorman.

  • tell me if you remember! xD

  • Wonderful video.... you've got all my favorites and a few I now want to see

  • It's nice of you to stop and give me your thoughts. Thank you. I still want to make more.

  • This is the best compilation I have ever watched on youtube- Thankyou so much, it was amazing to watch :)

  • Thank you very much. I have quite a few others, nearly all are compilations. iI hope you enjoy those, too. Try, it's Raining Men". LOL

    Genie

  • So Perfect!

  • Much Thanks.

  • Hugh Dancy, yes!

  • hey is the guy at 4:25 the guy in Ella Enchanted???

  • @kieghacat yeah, totally hot ain't he?=D

  • what's wih the dramatic music?

  • The music is excerpts from Clint Mansell's "Requiem of a Dream". "Requiem for a Dream Overture" and "Summer Overature".

Also found in Lord ot the Rings

  • waw, such good movies and series in one vid!

are the way we live now and under the greenwood tree, good movies/series or not? xx

  • Thank you very much. I have a lot of period drama vids of different movies in one vid. Hope you like them

  • OMG this is so awesome! Thanks for putting this together. what's the title of the music song?

  • The music is excerpts from Clint Mansell's "Requiem of a Dream". "Requiem for a Dream Overture" and "Summer Overature".

Also found in Lord ot the Rings

  • Wow! Thanks-your video was awesome:)

  • Much thanks. I hope you like my other vids.

  • love it :)

  • Thanks so much.

  • Oh man, why'd you have to use this horrid song? I would have loved to watch it if not for the song. It's majorly overused.

  • richard armitage simply the best :-)

  • Thank you so much for this! I have seen about 3/4 of these so now I know what else to look out for lol! By the way the man you put at 1:43 for Horatio Hornblower 1998 (I forget his name) is also in a version of Great Expectations that you might be intrested in along with one of the women in Wives & Daughters!

    5/5 again and favourited!

  • Much appreciate your comment and thank you.

    HH was Ioan Gruffuc.

  • Oh yes! Your quite right of course! I watch so many different costume drama's whenever I can, sometimes it's hard to match the name with the face!

  • This is awesome. the only problem i really see with it is the song does get a bit too repetitive

  • Yeah, that's true - but I wanted to get in the full 10 max allowed so I had to extend the music.
