Farsi (Persian) is spoken in Iran, Afghanestan, Tajikistan, and parts of Uzbekistan. Pashto is only spoken in Afghanestan and northern Pakistan. Languages don't follow national borders =)
@Theshofumiah1 Afghanestan has two MAJOR languages, Pashto and Persian, both are official languages. There are other languages spoken by smaller groups as well (turkmen, uzbek, etc) but those are not official. Where are you from?
@ronningun im british born and bred, but my nationality is Bangladesh,But I can speak little and understand Urdu, Hindi, and little bit of punjabi. reason, why i was confused also, is one girl from my college course I met is from Pakistan, and spoke fluent Urdu with me, but then I see her speak to another girl in another language, when I asked her whats the other language you speak, she said Pashtu (I was like wtf)thats a mad combination.I wonder where her roots r for pashtu? didnt ask her!

Так что... Вот вам и очевидное "сходство"! =) Ещё узбекский язык сильно похож на УЙГУРСКИЙ, распространённый в китайской провинции Синьцзян. ;-)
