you can tell that while RP is talking, GB has at least 2 daydreams and almost laughs out loud and is not really paying attention at least for most of the beginning. That AND the collapse of the housing bubble, irresponsible borrowers, predatory lending and greedy traders (among other things) led to the '08 crisis. I thus agree with you on only one respect: the Fed was indeed one of the instruments of the crisis --but solely because of Greenspan and his minions (including Summers).
But when the crisis unfolded, the Fed PREVENTED a bank panic by injecting capital into financial institutions' balance sheets in order to avoid them becoming insolvent! Widespread insolvency could have led to a credit freeze, meaning that companies depending on loans from the banking system to function (like GM, GE, Ford, etc.) would have had trouble finding the cash to run their daily operations.
Then comes your claim about the value of the USD being regulated by the Fed...
Have you ever heard of the Foreign Exchange market? It only takes basic macroeconomics to understand that the value of a currency depreciates when the demand for that currency declines. Demand for a currency declines when demand for that country's goods decline --among other things, like tariffs on imported goods, foreign interest rates, etc.
The Fed, my friend, will ONLY intervene if the foreign exchange rate USD/whatever becomes unreasonable because the Fed DOES NOT peg the dollar to another currency, i.e. there is no fixed exchange rate for the dollar (as opposed to the Chinese RMB for instance).
So no, I think you should wake up. If you have some econ theory to support your claims, then by all means please present them.

Because without anything to back up our money, it is bound to lose it's value. They caused the great depression as well. Bernanke himself stated this. Economic theory states that money loses value if: 1) domestic interest rates decrease; 2) foreign interest rates increase; 3) demand for domestic goods decreases (and opposite for foreign demand); 4) domestic price levels increase, etc.
Listen, fiat money is not backed by anything, only by the people's confidence in its value. And guess what? Most of the currencies in the world today are fiat, including the USD. Gold-backed currencies are ancient and not likely to resurface.
Regarding the Great Depression, it is widely known that the Fed did not know what to do back then. But hey, it had only been created in 1913. Things have changed a lot since then.

5:30 Glenn Beck asks the question still confounding me. Should we place a limit potential income of Americans ? With sheer intent to keep the 99% from becoming disenfranchised, maintain society within parameters - where we otherwise engage in free market capitalism. They try to sell overpriced coins and they advise people to buy whatever would be best for goldline. (example: trying to convince the customer that buying 2 1/2 oz coins would be better than a 1oz coin) A coin dealer should not be trying to sell you on something. They should be trying to help you find and purchase what you called to buy.

@grippicam As the Fed's Chairman, Greenspan chose to turn his back on regulation and the growing problem of unregulated derivatives trading. That AND the collapse of the housing bubble, irresponsible borrowers, predatory lending and greedy traders (among other things) led to the '08 crisis. I thus agree with you on only one respect: the Fed was indeed one of the instruments of the crisis --but solely because of Greenspan and his minions (including Summers).

But when the crisis unfolded, the Fed PREVENTED a bank panic by injecting capital into financial institutions' balance sheets in order to avoid them becoming insolvent! Widespread insolvency could have led to a credit freeze, meaning that companies depending on loans from the banking system to function (like GM, GE, Ford, etc.) would have had trouble finding the cash to run their daily operations.

Have you ever heard of the Foreign Exchange market? It only takes basic macroeconomics to understand that the value of a currency depreciates when the demand for that currency declines. Demand for a currency declines when demand for that country's goods decline --among other things, like tariffs on imported goods, foreign interest rates, etc.

The Fed, my friend, will ONLY intervene if the foreign exchange rate USD/whatever becomes unreasonable because the Fed DOES NOT peg the dollar to another currency, i.e. there is no fixed exchange rate for the dollar (as opposed to the Chinese RMB for instance).
So no, I think you should wake up. If you have some econ theory to support your claims, then by all means please present them.

Because without anything to back up our money, it is bound to lose it's value. They caused the great depression as well. Bernanke himself stated this. Economic theory states that money loses value if: 1) domestic interest rates decrease; 2) foreign interest rates increase; 3) demand for domestic goods decreases (and opposite for foreign demand); 4) domestic price levels increase, etc.
Listen, fiat money is not backed by anything, only by the people's confidence in its value. And guess what? Most of the currencies in the world today are fiat, including the USD. Gold-backed currencies are ancient and not likely to resurface.

In fact, they didn't even have to print it, since most of today's money is digital anyway. Don't even get me started on those bail outs. we payed to keep business afloat, that practiced bad business. I propose an "Email Bomb". Let us set a day when all of us email our friends and family with a plea to watch a single Ron Paul video of either a debate or interview. I feel the media has painted him as an extremist wacko for decades now, and we must let people see what he is really about.
In this effort, I would hope that everyone also includes how to register as a Republican and why, along with the Primary election dates for their state.

This would be a good alternative if you don't have the money to donate to the "Money Bomb", as word of mouth from a trusted friend or family member is much better than any campaign advertisement.

yeah if ron paul doesn't win the primary sure we will punish the republican party but not by voting for obama hell no theres a better way let us all stop voting and not participate at all in this way they will see that the republican party got nobody from today and here on... let us all work out replacing all the legislators representing the status quo!!!

I feel you desire the personal freedoms, liberties, personal choices and responsibilities of your own actions and risks, which was what our great good hearted founding fathers fought the tyrants for, and thankfully they won. I am just saying to vote for Obama because if Ron Paul is not the chosen won in the primaries, then maybe both the republicans and democrats need an additional 4 years of schooling, the hard way, boot camp style! You get me, right?

@jkgoet01 IDK who you're talking about because I don't see who you're responding to, but no one is forcing you to buy gold. It's simply this: Buy assets such as gold and silver, assets that are independent of the fiat american currency - or - face a devalued dollar and a destruction of your savings.

@jkgoet01 Well, in that case, I half agree with you. Beck's right about buying gold. He's wrong about who to buy it from. Goldline is not a good pm dealer. They try to sell overpriced coins and they advise people to buy whatever would be best for goldline. (example: trying to convince the customer that buying 2 1/2 oz coins would be better than a 1oz coin) A coin dealer should not be trying to sell you on something. They should be trying to help you find and purchase what you called to buy.
