  • Just the rhythm guitar player, but the music is always better when he's around.

  • Back when it was sunny in august.......

  • This is definitely "Lord Inchiquin" by Turlough O'Carolan. Swarb and Simon recorded it on "Close to the Wind" as part of a medley.

  • Lord Inchiquinn if I'm not mistaken

  • Sir Pat, this is excellent. I was filming the same set from the crowd using a VHS camera/recorder combo! Highlights were of course Simon, also the totally mad Jean-Pierre Rasle on bagpipes. Vive L'Alliance!

  • the guy is so underrated - his acoustic playing on his solo albums and the ones he did with Swarb in the 1980s is sensational.

  • Yes, I agree - Simon is brilliant on guitar. And his voice is so expressive when he sings - he takes you right into the song with him! - ladybird

  • Yes is great! The obscure job on guitar made by Simon has often been underrate.

I like is his capacity to fill the empty space. I like his style of singing-telling.

I like the choice of the stuff performed.

    Ciao

  • He once claimed that as a guitarist he was "sh*t". This video proves that he was a deluded liar. :-)

  • Oi know tha tune but oi carnt remember the name on it.

  • Great friend of mine, great player, nice person.

    MAXIMO from Italy

  • Bloomong great player but to me he's a hero because he won 15 to 1!

  • Simon is the most favorite member amoung Fairports all the time. His playing style especially at acoustic guitars and dulcimer is really excellent!

  • beautifal playing. i never doubted his ability as a musician once.

  • He was influenced by the best there is. Imagine having Richard Thompson as a colleague and mentor?

  • The tune's called Carolan's Concerto, composed by a blind irish harpist!

  • your right about the blind harper bit, turlough o caralan but im afraid the song is lord inchiquin. nicol and swarbrick play it together on close to the white bear.

  • Mea culpa. You're dead right Kevo. Would be good to hear more.
