  • dude u should get a pleco fvor cleaning you have got tomuch algea

  • dude ive don rechear and when piranah circl around in one spot to much it means displeasure and for 4 piranah at least a 80 tank would be okay but a 100 gallon tank is better

  • Comment removed

  • young ones- bloodworms juvenile- minnows adult- goldfish, yes, the store i got them from has 9 foot long piranhas in a huge tank and they feed them goldfish. that's recommended.

  • what would u recomend feeding very young ones???

  • no u CANT use play sand

  • How big do they get? Mine are about 3 inch big

  • Sick tank dude :D

  • hi...can I use play sand in aquarium with piranhas..?thanks...great video..

  • hey what can i feed baby piranha

  • i am getting 2 and i am puting them in a 40g tank well that be ok ?

  • I feed mine blood worms they seem to love them

  • I am getting 2 and i was wonder if you could put oscar fish with them?

  • i was thinking of starting a tank, ive been reading online an they say its best to keep them in groups of 4, i was wondering what you thought an is it better to start them in a larger tank or a smaller tank?

  • good choice in food i use the same..........what size tank is that..like the floating plants nice..........

  • borrriiinnngg

  • Hey my piranhas just laid eggs .... What should I do I have four of them in a 70 gal tank

  • hey man i really like this setup. i have 4 red bellies also. can you tell me how you got that dim lighting, because my light scares the crap out of em. thanks

  • Thanks for the info I am wonting to get sum but I cant tell the difference between pacu & piranha do you no the difference so I don’t get ripped off.

  • Nice...Check mine and give me some tips! Good work!

  • finally someone here who keeps piranha´s for another reason than just showing off and cucking living animals into the tank to watch them suffer!

respect mate :) i almost gave up looking for decently kept piranha´s. maybe its cause you are older than 14 years.

water looks really clean and the fishtank looks very tidy too. keep up the work and thanks for posting!

  • do you think 4 red bellies are ok for a 55 gallon tank?

  • @Blackwidow0418 -- yes thats fine -- don't worry what the PETA folks say -- if it is up to them each piranha should get 1000gallons for themselves...anyway back to reality -- it is realy about water quality and filteration...that is where you should focus your energy :) -- a 4ft tank is great for 4 - 6 piranhas -- i know someone who has 8 in a 55 gallon and had them for 5 years and still has them and all are doing great..

  • what size tank do u have

  • yo u so fucking stupid. there are things called feeder mice who are all halthy and dont have any disease or parasites. stupid. and feeder fish are healthy also u fucking dumb shit. why pellets?? maybe u can feed cichlid pellets once in a while but thats there diet??

the piranhas look sick and unhappy u dickhead and i bet the oxygen level is low because u dont have a bubbler or anything that helps them breathe. and just because they werent from the amazon doesnt mean they cant eat meat u dickhead

  • Cool video, great information.

  • nice fish i like red belly pianhas

  • im getting 4 red bellyed piranha in a 55 gallon fish tank. how do you keep your fish so colorful. what do you recamend to feed them. please give me some info on these

  • what kind of gravels is that?

  • what kind of a gravels did u use? and what color?

  • what kind of gravels did you use? is the grey or black?

  • boooooooooooooring

  • I love your tank it looks really natural

  • very nice. i don't really care if you feed your fish watever. but beefheart is good for piranhas too. oh and all of you who say piranha naturally eat mice. nooooooo, they are scavengers and what he says about the scout piranha is true. its to make sure whatever it is isn't alive/ a predator. they eat dead animal retards

  • Are they hard to take care of because I don't want many I only want 2 to 3 so would they be a handfull or what because I would love to have a couple and watch them grow and observe how they react. Please answer. : )

  • Hit me up man i wanna talk to you about my red bellies if possible

  • did any of your piranahs ever die

  • People piranhas are know for eating meat period in the amazon. You swim in the amazon they will eat nip at your ass. So if you feed them hikari gold which is good for them 48% protein. I think when i get mines on tuesday my piranha i will feed them frogs and things to that nature. They will also eat hikari gold as well. Mix it up. Peace

  • hey dude, im getting red bellies at the weekend, i have a 50 gallon tank with two external filters...the piranha im getting are about 4-5inches!! if i get 2 or 3 will they be ok in that tank for life??? thanks...

  • Nice vid. Beautiful Piranhas. Also thanks for the knowledge. Peace

  • Very Nice Piranha's man, They look very Happy and Healthy.

    howmuch Liter/Galon is the tank?

  • Oh I was dying to know what you paid for them when they were the size of quarters! I like piranhas. But here we cannot have them. Nobody sells them because they're illegal. So, I never knew how much they go for.

  • the reason the fins are eaten up is cause they have no space to swim. Tank is to small. Your re belly info video is a joke.

  • I have seven red bellys. They eat the second i put food in the water and have a very good diet of bananas, mice, fish, beef heat, crill, ect. And how is this sudistic? They eat live animals in the wild. Happy Piranahs require making there life as much like it would be in the wild. They do not eat pellets off the amazon river bottom. Also twice a day is way to much feeding.

  • @Trevspen121 OH i see wild piranhas eat animals.. Curious did you get your from the amazon? No u didnt huh.. so they arent wild...feeder fish contain parasites.. the pirnahas are in a tank three times the size now and have been.. there is a video of it.. piranhas are territorial and fin nip.. look it up resarch does wonders.. im sorry u dont have the info that i have researched but instead of saying lame like a child just ask why instead..

  • All my red bellys do not have a single finn with bites in them. They live in a 110gal compleat Amazon biotope aquarium. Sorry for the rudness, i just hate to see these fish miss represented and treated like goldfish. They are an exotic animal with special needs and when you meet them all they act like piranha. Not like yours in the video.

  • @Trevspen121 --bananas? -- p.s. Pellets are great for piranhas -- although they are not natural they have alot of nutirents in them and somewhat has the affect of dropping fuit, which piranha do eat in the wild..

  • lame!

  • @Trevspen121 i guarentee my knowledge of the species is correct. But since you brought it up... when do u see mice swim across a river? hmm weird.. how many bananna trees hang over the amazon river? hmm weird again... just ask dont be ignorant

  • @Trevspen121 i guarentee my knowledge of the species is correct. But since you brought it up... when do u see mice swim across a river? hmm weird.. how many bananna trees hang over the amazon river? hmm weird again... just ask dont be ignorant

  • There is no ignorance at all brother. I have done tons of research on my fish. Again I own seven and have for a long time. Google it, they have a mostly vegitarian diet. What fruit comes from south america...bananas.. wierd. Also mice are the closest things you can come to mimic animals falling into the water. They feed on live birds, fruit, seeds, fish and yes rodents... Not fish pellets. Thats is all im saying.

  • And again, twice a day feeding is crazy. I feed once every three days. Yes they nip finns but less so if you give them space they need and they are happy and not stressed.

  • Would like to see how they look now. I have 3. You take good care of them I can see nice color.

  • I cannot believe you think that tank is big enough

  • you got yourself some domesticated piranhas wild a feeder wouldnt last 6 mins

  • Cool, I use the same food as you...I have 3 big red bellies in a 55 gallon.

I agree, live food is horrid for any carnivorous fish (even more so for herbivores like pacu and african cichlids.)

By the way, your tank looks beautiful, I love the aquascaping you've done.

  • i thought they were illegal..nice setup and respect that you dont feed them mice!!!

  • youre thinking of the snake head fish

  • i feed mine white fish that i buy at the market. has to be white fish though, saves me alot of money. i just chop it up into pieces and freeze the rest, thaw and feed :)

  • i just got an 80 gallon bow front, i'll put a video up when i get it all set up, they're only a couple months old.

  • how much did you pay for them when you first got them?

and sorry to hear about your friend

  • 5 dollars a piece

  • they have been moved to a much larger tank in my newer videos.

  • thanks very much, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

  • im getting three i heard if their bred in captivity then they dont grow as big is this true also i read if you get 4 then you should get at least a 4 foot tank is this true??? plz reply asap thx

  • 75 gallons should be ok , they grow the most the first year between 4-6inches then about an inch year from then on, any type of fish grows with the tank size. So from what i have heard it is common with all fish not just piranhas

  • Comment removed

  • an also would a 75 be big enough for there whole life?

  • for one maybe two yes, they do get territorial

  • is a 75 gal tank good for 5 red belly piranahs

  • getting them please give me tips and tricks so thank you

  • Hello?

I have a question, i ordered 8 baby piranas, but the most i can keep is 3.

    What do i do?

(if you're wondering why i ordered 8 is becuase the minimum amount of money i could have spent was 40$, at 5$ a RB)

  • if you are in the states i would post them on craigs list

  • you know at the end of the video wen ur talking about that piranha got small pupil compared to other three ... one of my piranhas also got this problem lol , do u think it might be an issue or is it normal ?

Reply soon if u can + nice fishes dude, keep it up (Y)

  • From what i researched i guess it happens if the fish gets attacked when real young.. but who knows. It is quite common and no worries.. mine has no problem hunting down anything. Thanks for watching!!

  • search "Best Video Ever Red Belly Piranha Chomps Bluegill"

  • 2 of my 6 piranha had droop eye and i was told from a local breeder its due to imbreeding... if anything makes the fish a litttle more aggressive and doesnt effect anything else

  • dude check out mine. i think you will like it. and if you want them to go after the fish right away get rid of all that cover, I know they like it but they will get way more aggressive without it.

  • Hello, I have found a tank for sale and it comes with 4 red belly's, I was interested in the tank and now have a whole new interest in the red belly's. This would be my first tank and from the video they seem like a high maintenece fish? expensive to feed? It is a 55 gallon and I think that its big enough but still curious if you have comments towards this for me? thanks allot and check it out.....

  • There are somewhat high manitenance of a fish but that happens with any tank that u want to keep nice looking. They just dont stay pretty all the time lol. 55 gallons is big enough to start with .. but they do out grow the tank eventually.. i have stated before they grow the first year about 3-6 inches and then about and inch a year after that, so a lbigger tank might be the best in the long run. Thanks for watching!

  • money would you think I'm spending total?Oh ya I think I have a 10-15 gallon tank and a 20..

  • Those tank sizes are good enough for mayeb the first couple months and that is pushing it.. they will outgrow that tank very fast... and overall money i have invested is probably a little over 500 hundred dollars in the last couple years

  • MOney do you think it'll require to give myself a good start?

  • Good video man. Sorry about your friend.

I'm thinking about buying a red belly pirhana for starts, 10 bucks at a pet store.. So if I just have a 5-8 gallon tank and some decor, and some natural plants in there.. Will he be fine? Oh ya and a filter!!!

I think if that's ok , I'll wait 6 months to a year to add another piranha. They are so ineresting but I'm 16 and only have about 180 bucks.. We have the following - 3 gallon to 8 gallon tanks, the black gravel, some old filters. So how much...

  • so wait 5-6 koi is better for them really? but arent they more expensive? nvm unless u do once a mounth

  • They cost about 5- 15 dollars depending on size, lots more meat and they hunt as a group not individually like u would get with feeders.

  • sweet piranhas but i think that if you have big ones like that you should feed them goldfish sometimes not for their main diet but just when friends are over and stuff u know?

  • i feed them a 5-6 inch koi fish once a month usally. Alot healthy for them and still gives them the hunt. Thanks for watching

  • i was wondering seeing how you are the only guy who seems to know what hes talking about... i have a convict in with my pirahnas and the food i feed him kind of ends up in the bottom of the tank ... i was thinking of something like a crap or and craw fish but i hear them will mess with the fish the whole time.... any thoughts?

  • I would get some trap door snails, but if your piranhas get hungry you will find crushed shells on the bottom of the tank lol but snails are like the tank vaccums

  • i have 4 red bellies myself and i love them. when you clean your tank or change to a bigger tank how do you do it? because when i change tanks or movie them they get very stressed and i worry about killing them. ps thanks for letting me know about the garlic boost!

  • trust me you wont kill them, they get stressed yes but are very hardy fish, i have transfered mine twice and clean the tank monthly and never had any problems, after a transfer leave the tank lights off for a few hours tolet them get acclimated, as for the cleaning, they will never get used to, i actually hold some of mine now though i dont recommend that to anyone, their mouths are built for destruction and im not on the menu, thanks for watching!

  • ok i have been feeding mine feeders, srimp, bloodworms, and beefheart. what is the best? they wont eat those sinking pellets i tryed the same kind too. help

  • They will eat those sinking pellets if your patient, mind didnt eat them at first either, skip a day of feeding them then drop the pellets in, i guarentee they will be gone from then on.

  • is it better to raise silver arowana or red bellies?

which is more fun to raise?

  • better? im not sure how to answer.. depends on your money situation... my stepdad had an arrowana and not only is it really expensive as they gett bigger to feed but they get huge.. he had 125 gallon tank and it out grew that tank.. there are some at the zoo that are over 3 feet long!! So piranhas may be the way to go for you.. Any other questions feel free to ask and thanks for watching

  • hey avenger, i just got 3 rbp's and id like to know all the ins and outs to keeping them healthy and interesting. what do u think i should add to the tank? i plan on moving them to a bigger tank and adding a few more rbp's. and its not a smart thing to add some blacks in the same tank right? thanks

  • live plants help out alot.. get native plants to them like anubis.. anacharis or amazon swords... no sharp objects like rocks with sharp edges or anything of that matter because these fich spook easy and will cut themselves frequently.. any other help just ask and thanks for watching

  • mindless people on youtube need to take a leaf out of your book.

  • thanks bro i appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching.. i just posted an update video also

  • how big is your tank

  • i beleiev it s a65 gallon... thanks for watching... the tank in this video is not what they are in anymore

  • alright cool man thanks well Ive been cycling my tank for about two weeks now but im going to wait another week just to be sure, i have no rush patience is the key to successful fish keeping. if i have any more questions in the future ill ask you. by the way how your P's doing bro?

  • they are excellent if i ever get time from work to make a vid of there new big tank ill be sure to tell you about it

  • how ya doin, ive just bought 4 baby red bellies, how can you tell male from female, good video, good info, cheers

  • There are no external sex differences until they mature. A slight change can be seen when the females begin to show an egg bulge. The males are generally slimmer, but this wont be noticeable if they are well fed... so basically its very difficult... thanks for watching!!

  • Their about 2" n I have 8 of them this is my first big tank setup I had them In a 20g before so now I want to put them in their new 125g. I haven't really used anything to help the cycle process except some of the used filters the tank came with and I added some waste that my fish are producing that's about it so how long do you think it will take about a month or so.... What do you reccomend me putting in my tank to speed up the process.I'm doing fishless so I don't want to use feeder fish.

  • no not a month at all.. get some natural plants in there also when you can... like some anubis horn warts or java ferns which are all native to the amazon river and require low light to do well

  • hey avenger 7557 i have a question i just got a new 125 gallon tank and have been cycling it fishless for 3 days now, no ammonia, no fishes, no nothing how long do you think it will take before i can add my p's in their new tank? i head usually 4-6 weeks... please let me know thanks. i don't want to put them in too early and risk getting them sick. thanks

  • how old or big are your piranhas and how many do you have?? is this your first tank you have set up on your own?? are you water parameters good overall? and are you useing anything to support the cycling of the tank like bio balls or cycle solution?

  • Just got 4 red bellies, they are awsome thanks for the info. I just wanted to ask if you think its ok that 1 of them is a size bigger think he will hurt the others? he is half dollar size the others are quater...

  • no they will all be fine... the only aggression towards each other that i have seen in the last year is sometimes there is a feeding aggression or territory aggression.. but it is the occationally fin nipping .. which grow back... so i think you shouldnt have any worries man.. good luck and thanks for watching!!

  • i have 8 rbp's about a month old 1" to 1.5" How long or at what size are they going to start showing the red belly color? please respond thanks nice p's by the way

  • usally between 2-3 inches or 6 months old depends on growth rate but youll start to notice the dorsal fin changing to a reddish color first before the belly changes reddish... if you have any more questions feel free to ask... thanksa for watching!!

  • I've got 4, 2-3 inch Red Belly Piranhas, they are eating live black worms and it seems that they eat more during the morning than they do at night, they are also shy. Is this normal?

  • do u have a video of your setup?? i can give you as much info as you need on the piranhas...first fact is if the tank lighting is to bright it will make them spaz out alot... thanks for watching!!

  • No no videos yet but when I post one i'll be sure to tell you, one of them had a massive growth spurt and is about twice the size of the rest, the back of the tail is now black and its starting to get red on the anal fin.

  • it's nice to see someone who's wise and grown up filming his piranahs. I watched other videos and they were pathetic, and meaningless. nice video

  • thanks i appreciate the kind words.. they are an amazing species i will do an update video very soon in there new enclosure with alot more facts and information... thanks for watching!!

  • What is more aggresive a black pirahna or a red belly? I wanted the red belly but my dad says to get the black pirahna, because they're more aggresive

    Thanks!

  • The black piranha is one of the most aggressive ... but it is a completely solitary species if you put any tank mates and i mean any it will kill them all including other piranhas... also a full adult black diamond piranha can reach sizes of 16 + inches... just to let you know thanks for watching

  • Thanks for the upload! I'm getting 12 red belly pirahnas and I have a 300 gallon tank is that big enough?Theyre 1" long

  • yes that should be plenty of room.. they will grow from about 1 to 6 inches in the first year and then usally about an inch a year for the rest of there life which is between 7-10 years depending on water parameters and health of the fish... but they are lots of fun and if you want facts on how to set the tank up correctly let me know and ill be glad to help you out... thanks for watching!!

  • How big is your tank ? i have a 36 odd size 8 inch head to tail but i wanna add another one .. anyways people call you fish pussy what a jerk at least yours dont kill each other

  • my new tank is about 60 gallons.. this tank was 40 i lbelieve

  • ur piranhas r pussy

mine will shred those pellets lolz

    i own a 15 inch redbelly piranhas

    wat now lolz

  • im sure yours is alot older than mine also

  • But they do look healthy also..Just board with the Mrs PAC MAN Pellets

  • as soon as i add the pellets in the water they go crazy swimming around the tank and all... and this tank is no more i just upgraded to a much larger tank and a way better setup

  • Nice Redz...anyway man

  • thanks man... ill post ther new setup hopefully this week

  • I started off with 2 reds and just this past weekend added 4 more..6 total. I feed them shrimp, catfish filet, nightcrawlers, bloodworms, feeders-sometimes but I plan 2 cut the feeders out because they r not nutritious at all. They will get a mouse treat every once in a while. Keeping their diet varied is the best way

  • no need for mouse or mice.. they can carry just as bad diesease or bacteria that feeders can have.. everything else u offer is great for them though

  • I heard that if the feeder mice are well bred and if you actually know the breeder..then it is fine to feed them mice. Piranha in the wild eat animals that fall into the river as well as fish. To make their lives as close to their own natural habitat give them some mice. We already have them captive in a small ass tank..at least give them a chance to eat some live animals. your fish look board and lazy from not being able to hunt down prey.

  • they are definetly none of the above

  • Comment removed

  • so in real society my piranhas would be the ones with the manly hairy chest and urs would be little school girls

  • hahaha thats hilarious

id feed mine madd shitt lmao

  • and mine would live ten years plus.. and your would be lucky to see four and probably die a miserable death.. good luck with that

  • fish are kinda girly dont ya think? i have some and i love feeding them the good stuff man ur a wuss

  • if piranhas are girly then yeah im a wuss..

  • yeah i would say u r buddy... why dont ya just give them to me if u aint gone feed them the good stuff wussy

  • because goldfish and mice are dirty and diseased.. my piranhas are completely healthy without them

  • how gay is that... bye little girl

  • about as gay as the uneducated statements you make about a topic u know little if any facts about... get blocked goodbye

  • awesome tank!! what kinda floating plants you have??

  • actually this tank is gone.. lol i bought them a 70 gallon by seaclear and it looks amazing.. i just replanted them with java ern anubis and hornwort... but all the plants in this video are fake though... thanks for watching

  • i have 3 and its true that the smallest piranha in my tank goes after the food first then the rest join in. what size is your tank? i have a 75 gallon and really want to add one more. i have black gravel and added 2 amazon swords, frogbit, and hornwort. im looking at getting more plants. i just dont like the look of fake plants.

  • i have a 55 gallon tank but im actually moving them tomorrow into there new tank...made by seaclear... thanks for watching live plants are cool.. but once they bite into the first and like the taste they will usally chew up alot of them... good luck

  • Advise what not to feed tehm salmon & catfish they will do one hell of a number on your tank cleaning wise oil based is why. I learned that lesson if you do go out to your local store i'd recommend frozen smelt it runs like 5-6 dollars and will last you a while also will fatten up your pranz. Don't buy feeders from a pet store they don't up keep on the tanks. Go to your local bait shop. A treat for them lie once a month gives them exercise/chase too.

  • Cool doc. on the Red's i got 28 Red Belly Piranhas they must be fed or they will take each other out i feed mine twice a day. Some minnow feeders, frozen smelt, ect. variety diet makes them healthy & brings out the colors real good.

Your Pran with the bad eye is from younger fighting damage. I got 5 like that with a bad eye & one with no eyes that was sent to me in an order he hasn't grown much but surprisingly still alive i call him Blinky. When they are younger they are real aggressive.

  • thanks for the comments and thanks for watching!!

  • o tru tru thxs for the info

  • your welcome

  • o dang what size is your tank?

  • 55.. but im about to purchase a 100 gallon here soon

  • aye good vid but im bout to get 8 red belly babies an im just wonderin what size tank i should get so when they start to get bigger i wont half to buy a new tank

  • if you want my honest opinion i would get at least and 80 gallon to 100 gallon.. they get big quick mine are less than a year old

  • awesome... mine are about that old too, I have nine.... do they usually demolish those carnivore pellets? I saw em at Petco but they were like 11 bucks.

  • yeah they love the pellets... they have never turned them down as a matter of fact

  • maybe I'll get some of them then. Usually I feed em white fish fillets, some times salmon fillet, they go nuts. Right now its whole Tilapia, they love that too. I notice they will eat regular tropical fish flake (for the Giant Danios) as well, funny to watch because its so small for their mouths

  • how old are your piranhas? How long?

  • a lil over a year old... and the biggest is five inches or so if i had to estimate... thanks for watching!!

  • I suppose those pellets are more nutritionally rounded, i hear they like vegetative matter from time to time, mine bite up all the plastic plants in the tank too

  • ya i new that i gust got 2 clowns yester day

  • great fish - how many gallons and what type of plants are those on top of the water?

  • all the plants in the piranhas tank all plastic... because they love to shred them up... so the ones at the top are a fake anachuris plant and i just removed the base so they float instead... thanks for watching!!
