But I'm confused, a 50w element on the x5 setting is a 500w scale, shouldn't that be a 250w scale ?

Please explain this as I'm looking to ad the pep mod to my bird 43, thanks.

You may have these unsuspecting youngsters falling for this but it's clearly BS. Now if you have a peak reading board installed in that Bird it may just show that kind of power but then it would only be about 100 watts of true average power.....

I have a Cobra 25GTL with a mosfet final from 1987, used about 24 years in all kinds off weather and in many vehicles, made all kinds of DX conacts and of course 102" whip. 35 BIG WATTS!!!!!!........LOL

I own the first 2290 mod Galaxy DX 959 and have used it in the winter, spring and summer. Doing relly well with my DX contacts made from the old truck!
