Why not use the FREE firewall that comes with Windows, the FREE spam remover that comes with Google/Yahoo, and deal with a virus if you ever actually get one. Otherwise you are slowing down your computer with Norton, McAfee MORE than if you had the spyware, malware, etc. that it is trying to prevent....and paying good money for that at the same time. If you ever ACTUALLY get a virus or your computer slows down, then deal with it. Otherwise you are shooting yourself in the foot.

Norton is a RAM Hog with poor protection, google it's reviews. Avast! Home Edition or AVG Free offer much more solid protection and have free licenses.

Pair these up with some good free anti-spywares and you've got a solid and secure system.

I use avira, either avira free edition, or avg, also if you search for virus removers if you know the what kind of you have try to only download the symantec or mcafee virus removers and beat the sucker. Of course you could be over reacting and all you need is a simple desktop anti-vir guard, but I prefer avira to avg, but avira has better detection so I use that. Also as a extra; download malware bytes anti-malware. It will save your computer from most forms of malware. Stay safe.

I had a PC with 512 MB of RAM, I was using Norton 2005, I scanned and it found 2 trojans, but didn't delete them. The next day a friend of mine come, he reccomended downloading Avast!. I did, and before the boot scan, it detected over 100 pieces of malware, on the boot scan it found more 176.

some things i like baout nortons otehrs i dont. it has a really nice firewall. i remember having bouts with spysheriff and how windows live care firewall wouldnt block it and let it take over a pc and it wouldnt get rid of it ither. had norton installed on anotehr computer and spy sheriff tried to get in but norton firewall blocked it from getn in.like i said i really like nortons firewall.ive tried mcafee,avg,panda ,kaspersky and more.and i still favor notorn firewall wise.

AVG Anti-Virus is horrible because it bogs (slows) down your registry horribly with its updates. It is supposed to save its updates via its download file, but it makes whole new folders for each update.

AVG Free Anti-Spyware is even worst. It downloads back-up files with those updates. That means TWO Update Files of seperate FOLDERS. THATS ALOT OF SPACE LOL

The scan rates tell them all. First off, avast protects more for advanced users because they surf more, increasing their chances for viruses. fanofwresting, this happened to me too. Symantec is like the worst. It said i had a Trojan horse (from where..?) and spyware.. Scanned 2 times and didnt find nothing. I got pissed off, downloaded Avast! antivirus, run a scan on start up and found over 25 infected files on my cpu and deleted them that norton completely missed. I wasted about 80.00 on norton and saved money on something that was free and it really helps..

Trust me Avast or AVG are the BEST anti-virus programs for computers..

AVG Anti-Spyware Free Edition (Trial) Avast Anti-Spyware (Register for 12 month) (Product is Pro Edition) Spybot Search and Destroy. That's all I know but don't fall for these fakes below.
