Joseph Smith, as a prophet of God, would also be subject to his share of persecution for so did the the Jews while Christ was alive... and so did they against the prophets of old. Men of God who were stoned for their testimony of the great God of Israel.

Either way, I heard it didn't bode well for these men who had Joseph killed.

He being the prophet of the restoration, he will add his testimony to the savior Jesus Christ and Christ himself will uphold this great testator of the truth at that day. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and he continues to use the SAME pattern previously revealed. God did not decide to stop speaking to men on earth. There is nothing wrong with accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet if he truly is one. And of course since Jesus is the way the truth and the life, the only way to know whether Joseph Smith is a prophet is to ask of the ultimate source of knowledge, God. Worshiping Joseph Smith would be very wrong. And there is nothing wrong with saying you must accept Joseph Smith as a prophet to be saved, if he is a prophet, you must ask God to know the truth. The bible is words of men called prophets also.

I know in my heart that he was (is) a Prophet of God, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. I don't remember the true story of his martyredom having him shooting people in jail.

The Restoration of the Gospel is a blessing, especially in these uncertain financial, economic, and spiritual times we face. So before a man can judge Joseph, they should take a closer look at what he taught. We are just as Christian as anybody.
