VX 2000 has a serius issue with fire wire... I have a perfectly working one that i have to dispose because fire wire is not working and no one can fix it... forget it!!! But another camera, preferebly not from sony. I had many friends with the same issue.

get a capture cam its easier and better for your tape heads

as hubway you should use a cheep mini dv cam to transfer. better to wear out a cheap cam than an expensive one. make sure you record in sp mode not lp mode because sp works better when you swich the tape between cams

@satorian Its better to use a cheaper camera to upload your footy to the computer cause it wears down the heads on your nicer more expensive camera, so just film with the expensive one and upload footy w/ your firewire w/ a cheaper camera.
