@888MikeM888 Its probably one of the best places to be on the battlefield, aside from rear echelon people... at least thats what a former artillery officer told me.
There is no feeling quite like a chest compreesion when pulling the lanyard.; what a rush. to bad they use blanks on remeberance day gun salutes. it seems so boring when you know the public isn't getting the real show. the real bang for their buck.. I served with 2RCHA in Gagetown and spent about 6mnths in shilo. showin the boys how to do it right. jjk It was probably the most exciting 3yrs of my life.I think every young Canadian should server their nation.
@spetsnaz891 This was back in 1978 -81 we were still using the old leftover Guns from Korea !05 MM howitzers. the new kid on the block were the now old M109's 155MM Howitzers. Back then 2RCHA was in Gagetown and 1RCHA was in Shilo. Anyway ty for the update I was under the Impression They had been disbanded. Have you ever seen this Vid
@WhynottBelieve oh really, i never knew that, its called whisky battery here in Gagetown now, its a training battery, non deployable. i guess pet must be a relitavely new base
I have a question for you. I am currently applying to be a field artillery soldier, haven't signed a contract yet, but there is something I'd like clarification on: When deployed, are the field artillery soldiers issued a sidearm? Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks for the video!
@ultipball Correction, I skimmed through your question and missed the part where you mentioned deployed. Yes, when you are deployed you will be issued a side arm.
is that Jesus at 00:23?!

Not trying to sound like a coward, just making sure I know what I'm getting myself into, how high is the chance of death as an Artillery Soldier?

@888MikeM888
For the US, it kind of sucks because we frequently have to do Infantry type jobs because not much Artillery is needed at the moment.

@ultipball yes you are good luck, I just finished my DP1 in Gagetown, awesome stuff.

@ultipball you learn how to use guns both primary and side arms. sometimes soldiers will set up a perimeter incase of enemy ambushes or attacks
hephaistos303 11 months ago
@ultipball Unless you're an officer, most likely not. There are some situations where you will get a sidearm but for the most part no.
