  • ok guys i'm kind of a noob at this game but i'd like to know how to get the god Pax to like you more. I already know to not kill unhostile enemies, but i don't know how to actually bring it up.

  • Positive Actions: +1 to +3: Kill an Undead creature +1: Cast a Healing Spell on yourself +3: Cast a Healing Spell on a non-enemy (other than yourself) +n: Cast a Healing Spell (n is ((manacost/5)+1)/2)

  • @limdul thanks

  • @Xenokalnew H'ruth gives you more skill points (+20 against +15 for Klaskov). It's more restrictive though.

  • Sorry for double post, but for a pure fighter, should I run Klaskov or H'ruth?

  • I just started and Klaskov gave me a +3 artifact warhammer of unbreathing and teleport control. Since then, I have been rolling monsters (including named liches, named dragons, named gold beetles, and also cockatrices with ease) ;-DD

  • how do you climb up ladders and down

  • @johnreew Click on the ladder symbol or use > or <.

  • How do you bring up that menu at: 1:13 ¿? Great videos by the way..! I love this game!

  • @PKSTkimo When you choose the Zap Spell option (the Z at the bottom and there are default shortcuts for that) the hotbar appears and you can drag the spells there - just drag the name of any spell in the list.

  • This game is really evil. I was on the 7th level when suddenly a spark comes out of the dark and kills me... I was at full hp (70)...

  • can any one help me i a noob idk how to instal if any one knows of a video that would be great

  • @Apocalypsekiller115 You just go to the website linked to in the video description and download the game from the download section. (Windows SDL if you're on Windows)

  • @limdul How do ya change into like a dragon for example?

  • @FtDSpartn You need a wand/ring of polymorph and then a ring of polymorph control. Then, if you have ever encountered a dragon you can zap the wand on yourself and choose any monster you encountered - voila - now you're dragon! ^^

As a bonus you can get a ring (or necklace?) of unchanging and then you'll never change back to your current form. But watch out - your magic/physical levels are set to the ones of the monster and some monsters have fewer eq. slots. (But you can level-up!)

  • @limdul I was walking around, curious to see that there was no monsters. I go in a room. Is this supposed to happen?!

    imageshack.us/photo/my-images/703/80278668.jpg/

  • @FtDSpartn Yes, it's normal. It's a room of sleeping monsters. You can have fun with them or even try making them fight against each other with cunning tactics after they wake up. Please note that Pax doesn't like slaying helpless creatures though and all sleeping monsters count as such. =)

Ah - keep in mind that the dungeons are NEVER empty - there will be more and more monsters spawning as you explore them and you have to strike a balance between exploration and fighting.

  • X, is starting a little let's play on this. Good game!

  • how do you save?

  • i like your voice

  • Try desktop dungeons, its very similar to this game

  • I keep on dying ._.

  • @virulentRant That's the point of the game... :P

  • You killed an entire room of sleeping creatures. Quizar likes you to "attack the helpless", so I'm sure that's why he was so happy.

  • I haven't played many roguelikes -- and I didn't really get into most of those I actually did play -- but I took quite a liking to this game.

Are there any similar roguelikes you'd recommend? (You seem experienced.)

  • @SiGhast Well, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and NetHack are some of the easier ones to get into. For a fun and different experience you might go for DoomRL. :-D

If you want to go old-school the most comprehensive RL ever is ADOM and a nice traditional game would be something like Angband or one of its many variants. For a puzzle-based micro-RL you can check out Desk Dungeons. Also check out Legerdemain for an interested story-based RL.

  • @limdul Thanks a lot for the reply!

  • @limdul What is your opinion of the best one? I Do STONE SOUP, i made it to pretty... far into the game...

  • @SiGhast Brogue is decent for a simple but deep experience.

  • nice bonesaw music

  • Great!

  • where do u downlad this game

  • The link is in the video description and even in the video itself.

    zincland (dot) com/powder

  • I guess Quizar likes you because "Acid Splash" counts as a ranged attack and performing a ranged attack gives +1 point and killing a creature with a ranged attack gives between +1 and +3 points.

I really like necromancer+rogue, because an army of undead is just kickass and "Poison Item" + throwing tons of daggers around is quite efficient.

Well, I only started playing yesterday, but necromancer seems to be quite cool and Tlosh isn't that hard to please.

  • Yeah, Necromancers are cool. Tlosh also gives you nice boni to both HP and MP. The downside is that you don't get as much experience when your minion kills a monster. Also, the Necromancer dress code sucks balls.

  • Yeah, you practically have to wear more gold bling than the average pimp to be a good necromancer. Another downside is that you want to have telepathy or light to command all your minions.

Ah, well, but at least you can turn into a Lich and I'll absolutely have to try that out!

  • I have been playing this game for months now and i need some tips please. Skype:chanx7245

  • @limdul Dress code sucks AND Pax will be constantly trying to kill you for everything you do. He gets mad really easily when you necromance.

  • This is a fun game.. been playing nethack for a year or so, and just came upon POWDER.

I have a question, though.. you were talking of classes near the beginning of the vid, and I am not sure exactly how you pick those? Also, I am unable to pick a god when starting a new game.. hmm.

I downloaded the windows version from powder's website.

  • ah I see upon reading a comment below, it seems I must fill up my high score list before picking a god.. thanks :)

Man.. I sure die a lot in this game :P

  • Limdul, I'd like to let you know that I Have not only enjoyed watching this video series, but it has motivated me to finally do something I had wanted to for a long time. I am now making a video series on another Rogue-like. Hopefully it'll be as interesting as your own!

  • Mine gets boring after a while - the beauty of roguelikes lies in playing them yourself.

Glad I could inspire someone's LP - I myself was inspired by CaptnDuck's Dwarf Fortress Tutorials...

  • I am doing one for a roguelike called IVAN. I think the beauty of IVAN is that it never becomes... hmm... boring. It scales itself for you and nothing else. If you spend all your time on a floor gaining power and abilities and awesome gear, the next floor will scale to provide one helluva challenge for you. I think calling mine a LP may be misleading as I think it's more a "Watch as I repeatedly die trying" but hopefully I'll get someone leaded in the right direction. :)

  • yay, it works! :) thank you.

and more videos please! Can't stop playing this game :p

  • how can you choose initial god? :o

I dont have that screen when I begin new game :/

  • Ah yes, sorry, I didn't explain that. On my test runs I did but found out that I don't want to make people watch plain menus for long periods of time.

You get the option to choose a starting god after having filled up your high-score list. You don't get additional stats but your starting equipment is tailored towards your god's requirements.

  • powder rules :)

  • We need more Pajama Party roguelikes, too.

  • Fantastic, the world needs more roguelike LPs.

    Roguelike LPs and pajama parties.
