I've seen all but 5 of the original Zatoichi movies and I think Blind Fury is based on Zatoichi Challenged. There are some plot similarities between the two films.

At the end, when Nick leaves his nephew, Billy calls out to him saying i hate you. While under the bridge Nick catches Billy's clay elephant, and carries it with him as Billy says I love you uncle Nick. and you see tears flowing under Nick's sunglasses. The end scene moved me to tears.
