It was just on TCM Friday night. Certainly edgier and less charming than the earlier loose version with Bogie. Garfield handles a rather difficult fix and merges...sort of.
What an actress. She delineates the character of Leona in about four seconds, using only her right hand. Fabulous! And the crooked smile and knowing eyes... and Curtiz's compositions and camera moves aren't to shabby either. Great script, great performances, GREAT movie.

Coming out of Patricia, that line is M A R V E L O U S.

Garfield seemed to handle many fixes well, even if he was blinded or even died.
I suspect he would have worked with the great Patricia Neal more, if life hadn't intervened.
