  • I know what I'M having for dinner tonight~

  • I made the recipe tonight for my family. They were at first unsure as to how it would taste (I have never made it before). I told them that based on how the dish smelled, it would taste delicious. I was right. Loved the recipe,Runny! P.S. I added green onions on top as a garnish. :D

  • Guy from Canada looks like a native american

  • finger licking taste;;;; :p

  • the chicken doesn't look like it's cooked, tell me if i'm wrong

  • much love to miss hannamix for bringing me here

  • MrJingJong just made a video recipe for oyakodon! I came back to watch this video for the memories.

  • who is misshannahminx…

  • This is the most entertaining cooking show ever.

  • i replaced the mentsuyu with soy sauce and water and 1/4 of a stock cube and it was great!!!

i live in singapore and still cant find japanese food items like mentsuyu and sake...

  • @anoymos hey i live in singapore too and a few days ago i bought sake in fairprice.. i dont think every fairprice has it though.. but in clarke quay there is a mall called liang court. it's a japanese mall and it has a japanese supermarket. maybe you can find mentsuyu and sake and other japanese ingredients there..

  • @kickmyask82 REALLY?! thx!

  • @anoymos there's actually mentsuyu/tsuyu in Daiso ;)

  • @Aysh1 and where is that?

  • what if you dont have mentsuyu? can you use soy sauce

  • @ikalwewe hmmmm soy sauce is not the same but it still tastes good ^_^

  • Parent, child, use of the chicken nad egg?

  • You mentioned the big tit beast... I shall no longer watch your videos... A shame, i loved them, too...

  • what can i substitute if i dont have mentsuyu? i hope someone can answer my questions since not all japanese ingredients are available in the groceries here ion the philippines...

  • @joimarise im pinay from japan. there are some japanese groceries in makati (hachin) and yamazaki (near makati cinema square), operated and owned by japanese gentlemen. my husband used to buy from there. im not sure if there are mentsuyu, but my husband said there were hondashi, sake etc.

  • @joimarise soy sauce mixed with chicken or beef broth

  • @joimarise fish broth mixed with soy sauce

  • Great video my friend.

I LOVE japanese food, and watching this makes me want to go even more to Japan.

But you should rename in all videos "Do not watch if your hungry" :P

A hug from someone in portugal :D

  • is there another substitute for Mentsuyu? like soy souce? oyster sauce?

  • I am about to make this :D

  • im going to make this tonight!

  • I get it! Oyakodon stands for parent, child and bowl. The whole chicken is parent, the egg is child and the whole thing is in a bowl! I feel accomplished. :D

  • mmmmmm...... that looks so good すごくおいしそう

  • Is the sauce Bentsuyu.....sorry for mispell is it like a fish sauce?

Would the local Asian supermarket have it?

  • i can see why you call it the cheat method...its suppose to have like chicken katsu in it rite?

  • @weigang1234

The reason why I call this is kinda cheat way is because I use mentsuyu. That means you don't have to make dashi soup. Mentsuyu has already seasoned by dashi and soy sauce as you know :)

  • @runnyrunny999 Hello ! I love your videos. May I ask if mentsuyu is similar to memmi sauce soup base or is it completely different? I can't find the info on the net. Keep up the great video recipes! Thanks

  • @runnyrunny999 Hi runny-san! So can you substitute the mentsuyu in recipies that call for dashi?

  • @runnyrunny999

Hello is mentsuyu sauce the same as memmi sauce? Thanks

  • @weigang1234 Oyakodon never have any katsu in it :S

  • yucky

  • I've tried your receipe tonight...sooo good!!!

  • the eggyolks went weeee...... avoiding the whisk :D

  • Yum yum! ^_^

I'm going to make this sometime this week ^_^

  • u guys are funny! lol

  • Hey its busan kevin!

  • i'm glad you not so boring like bobbyjudo....your videos are full of fun ! wooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooo waaaaaaaaaaaa woo hoo ......muahhhhhh

  • Rice + Chicken/Meat = My favorite food, period !!

  • I made it tonight, it turned out to be awesome!! I want to try your Okonomiyaki next.

  • For future videos, can you use all metric or all imperial measuring systems? I was going to make my own Mentsuyu sauce but I had to convert everything. It's easier to use 1 system. Thanks!

  • @DeMichaelSuperFan

About measuring system. I have trouble as well. When I find solution, I think I will be able to do what you tell me to.

  • nice cooking check out music on my channel!

  • "How to cook japanese food", awesome start with you picking your nose, is that part of the ingredients?lol

  • i bought mentsuyu today. but it says its "seasoning soysauce for straight noodles. Tsuyu no moto." is that the same thing runny uses? because he says his is soba noodle soup base whereas mine does not.. any help would be appreciated

  • Ready go sir! Yes it is the same thing :)

  • @runnyrunny999:

thanks runny! i just made this today and it was great! thank you for sharing your recipe

  • @dancemasterv men= mian or nooodles. tsuyu= sauce.

  • Oh god, I just realized why it's probably called "parent, child, bowl"...Well, the "bowl" bit is obvious, but the parent part is the chicken and the child part is the egg. x_x I SO hope I'm wrong...because that's kind morbid.

Actually, the morbidity makes me hungry.

  • AWESome!!!

hey runny runny, I also live in Canada and have recently taken an interest for Japanese cooking. Do you have any vegetarian or vegan or shojin ryori ideas? I do not wish to eat so much meat/eggs~ Thank you so much if you could make anything liek it!

  • This is so good

  • Oh My god this is so good you guys should do try it really

  • Really,thank you well I'm gonna tomorrow

  • What happen If I don't have soba noodle soup base? Help me

  • Soy sauce and rice wine work well.

  • @ilovesome17 Bit late to the party, but I tend to make mine with a couple cups of dashi mixed with a bit of soy and mirin.

  • 親子丼はおいしいだよ! I hope I said that right.

  • ほんま旨そうやん。。このビデオのせいでめちゃ食べたくなってきたわ。。笑

  • 簡単で味もそこそこ美味いですよ。

  • It looks delicious but no onions for me.

  • これほんと簡単だよ。しかも普通に美味い。みつ葉をもっと散らして七味でもふればさらに美味い!

  • How come all Japanese stocks (I'm pretty sure this is the word you mean to use when you say soup) require sweetening with sugar? Basically this is an omelette Japanese style which is cool, there are a lot of foods in the world that are similar.

  • nice video Tao!! keep up the good work!!

  • And I will :)

  • Great collab with MrJingjong... You guys are both of my favorite people in YouTube. Poor Jay though, you forgot about him. It's better that you ate it before Yakuza san, lol! XD

  • It looks like the egg isn't fully cooked, is that right? I wonder if I'd be able to handle the texture...I'm the kind of person that can't eat eggs very often or else i get sick of them. Still, I'd love to try this someday!

But for now, I'm going to look through your tofu recipes and see which one I want to try. I got some tofu (I love it!) so that I could try one of your recipes. :) I'm curious about the icecream and the grattin!
