You know, lots of people link this video on the TF2 forums for various reasons, and I've seen it about 50 times before, but I always find myself watching it again to listen to the music.
I hate it how the attacks come out of the players head! For example, all snipers need to do, is point out their head, and they can still shoot you, even though their accual weapon still is behind a wall. This tactic is being abused alot by all classes, and pisses me off! Darn Valve.
The only way to really "abuse" it is when firing over a short wall with a bullet-based weapon, while only your eyebrows are visible to the enemy.
That said, I don't see how other alternatives are necessarily better. For instance, It'd be pretty annoying if you couldn't headshot with close range using the Ambassador, if the bullet emitted from somewhere down and to your side.
Its from the original Command And Conquer sound track, I can't remember exact song name though. They're all on youtube, so just keep looking till you find it I guess. :)

Sniper, because it requires skill to get head shots.
Running around like a suicidal moron flaming everyone takes little to no skill. Then theirs the Backburner (as if the flame thrower didn't do enough damage as is...) The lingering flames is what kills most people, if not mowed down by the n00b flame thrower first.
There's no skill in standing in the same spot and trying to shoot people in the head.
But then, that's a stupid sniper, and your telling me what a stupid pyro is. That would be like saying that all Medics are boring because they only heal: you exclude the idea of combat medics.

I know how to play both a good sniper, and a good Medic.
A good medic keeps his entire team alive and tries to keep his closes team mates all ubered at once. As I sniper, I take faces off by moving around. Behind the team, but in the open. Not behind a small crack in the wall camping. Hence why I hate Pyro's.
i don't know if this was covered in other comments but the only discrepancy between what you're showing and in game play is that the hit boxes are further out on an actual player then on a bot. however i think the physics still apply. :)

What happens to the boxes when the flamethrowers stops when you die? I can't tell you how much I've been lit on fire or lit someone else on fire as soon as whoever the pyro is dies, but the person who is lit on fire defenitely seemed farther away than the visible flame.
I suspect that the Pyro being dead isn't an issue--it still draws a line from where the flame hit you towards where the Pyro was when he fired, and determines that it doesn't hit a wall, and poof, you're on fire.

no that's hitscan hitscan weapons are point and the bullet goes there with the random spread added by the weapons code try that with a soldier though

If a pyro can kill you by ambush, they've done their job well. They are an ambush class after all.
Being honest, with medics, healthkits, spawn lockers and sandviches, dying from afterburn is much less common.

In a way, yes, but they don't actually *do* anything if the system thinks they did go through a wall.
Just remember that the flames never change how they move because of walls or floors. They do not bounce, curve, deflect, etc.

The fire idea makes more sense because the Pyro actually has something to do with fire.
Pyro has near no relevance to potatoes or hive-minded potatoes for that matter.
