I wonder when screaming and shouting became real singing! A great vocalist most be able to have melody, harmony, hit high notes, not by screaming, be able 2 try all genres of music and sound good! Must have a good head voice...must be able to belt notes, loud and clear, not shout notes. Fantasia, jhudson, patti and aretha sometimes fall victims 2 shouting and screaming, listen carefully, I luv dem all! But Beyonce, Whitney, Xtina, Mariah, Celine don't need to shout! I agree with Makeal on just about everything. I like the way he defends the artists he likes. There is room for everybody and every style. In the 90's many black artists dominated the charts. Now we pit one black artist against the next. I agree wih Skorpion that Beyonce has changed styles since she left Destiny's Child, but she was definitely the star of that group hands down.

Vocally the only thing Patti is good for is high notes. Makael must like Patti and Beyonce becuase they are both drag queens. Fantasia is more comparable to Aretha vocally because they can sang anything. Beyonce cannot sing anything and make it hers. Her kind of voice is emotionless and when she tries to sing other genres it comes off as ametuerish and mimicked. I love when Fantasia is NOT screaming so much, because her normal tone is unmached. She can sing any genre and OWN it. ie: Am. Idol
