  • definitely, badass song this is

  • great song + great video thums up!!!!

  • Devon Aoki is wicked hot

  • I love Tim Burton but that is his worst work...

  • Ah, you misunderstand my sentiment. You sir, are a tool in the highest regard. I can only assume that your continually over intellectual assesment of this video is either the result of rampant drug abuse, or due to your being picked on mercilessly as a child. You feel a need to feel superior to those around you. Not unusual on youtube in general as most of the users/posters are in the teens to mid 20's. Then there is the third possibility. Failed film student. Either way do as thou wilt. Im done

  • I got your sentiment, and your point, whether you get it or not is of no concern and is really only a reassertion if you don't: you're a moron. That's it.

"Then there is the third possibility. Failed film student. Either way do as thou wilt. Im done"

Reading your profile, that would be a step up for you. Nothing more hilarious than a burnout nobody with a "production house", and eager to advertise this fact...on YouTube.

    31 years old!?! AHAHAHA!

  • "I can only assume that your continually over intellectual assesment of this video"

We agree: the video's too smart for you.

Your ability and understanding of artistic intent -- the nonexistence therein -- explains why you're a 31 year old posting under a profile dedicated to a production house nobody knows of or gives a shit about, displaying a video of your hick cuz 'crying'+smearing jizz on his face.

And you have the nerve to complain about what others do here?!? You epitomize retardation.

  • you two are so fucking sad youre like the nerds of the class trying to prove that they are best because they are smart well no if you want to be liked get a personality and don't, just don't try and get annoyed and leave stupid intullectual comments about how "i should go read more books and" "learn" i will choose to stick with popularity nerds

  • Your doing exactly the same as all these other people that you are criticizing, Using youtube as a means to make yourself feel bigger than others.

  • Has anyone else realized that these skeleteons somewhat resemble the martians from another one of Burton's films, "Mars Attacks!"?

  • only tim burton would have to skeletons running toward each other gleefully on the beach XD I love you Tim :P

  • This is my favorite music video! And a great song to.

  • Another example of how CG is spiritless -- even Tim Burton becomes a bland visualist through it; not to say all the time, but there are certain areas where it looks and moves too cleanly. And it so often has no distinction. No signature.

I know he loves Jason and the Argonauts, but it seems an odd nod and homage when you're using what killed its art form...although maybe that's a clever statement on the effects industry, come to think of it.

    Lifeless like the grim reaper.

  • Its tableau and structure are very Burton, very visually dense and clever, though.

Death is inevitable(?), as represented by the avoidance technique of film and its iconic moments (frozen youth, a linear loop, but only in the end a reminder of how quickly time passes) and all that dies outside it, including most specific to statement and era in the piece, the drive-in.

  • the name of the girl is Devon Aoki

  • isn't she the girl from Dead or Alive,Sin city and War

  • Yes, she is.

  • omg...so romantic... jaja... running in the beach like baywatch.... in slow motion... love it...

  • ooh i didnt know this was directed by tim

  • this is very very good

  • this is pretty good. i'm quite a fan of Burton, depending on the movie. I really love the song. the use of the of drive in movie for the narrative structure is really smart. but, while the whole skeleton thing is really cool, it's not exactly the most inventive or interpretive idea - it's rather literal, which is cute, if that's what was intended.

  • It's a literal visualization of the lyrics, yes, but I think what's clever about it is how it manages to fit into Burton's auteurism, making those visuals thematically-connective and philosophically trenchant just as strongly.

A great deal of Burton's work is focused on death, and this is a concise treatise on his feelings...well, maybe more like arguments.

  • Burton is an amazing stylist, even when the most overt form of that let's him down -- as I think it does here through the cg.

Accidently or not, the great part about that is, in this instance, that the base visual flaws are a thematic strength in a circular manner then creating for an adroit sub or side-thematic structure on technology (how itself was or can be an art, and how it can just as easily die as anything else) that comes about through what is on the surface a sort of ineptitude.

  • I think it also speaks to a battle between nature and technology, and how specific forms of older tech -- stop-motion for instance -- was somehow more passionate and "real" than what replaced it.

The childhood obsession is chiefly present as well, and perfectly follows through and under the main thematic umbrella of death.

Even the beach and desert speak to that -- sand in an hourglass; ashes to ashes, dust to dust -- as well as the conjunctional nature of sex vis a vis death.

  • Nature versus tech, then, but also how technology, along with sex, is a push towards something new -- creation and replacement -- as an avoidance technique of death, even though it either hastens it or is simply a part of an inescapable cycle.

All these things natural on one level even when sometimes not on another.

    Very well executed.

  • can I buy some pot from you?

  • sunshinebutmorerain

  • The last thing a dope needs is pot.

Besides, Burton's the dealer, and high on life through the selfsame product known as expressionism.

In other words, learn something. Again, probably a toxic or disagreeable mix for a fool, which is your only real contribution here (the assertion of your idiocy, in case you missed even that).

The thing about ignorance and those who adhere to it is that it rarely dissipates. I doubt we're about to have an epiphany or exception in your case.

  • The sea and pool assert the same thematic thread while inserting further or separate symbolic fables or cliches -- liquidity as both form and formlessness, thusly instant ephemeris; here now, gone in nearly the same instant, always shifting.

    That's life...and death.

  • Cool; first time hearing this song, it's pretty sweet, and the video makes it that much better. This video is going on my favorites.

  • JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS!

  • Tim Burton and The Killers go Hand n' Hand.

I think they should remake Mr.Brightside and have Tim Burton direct it. I'm curious to see what he would do for the video :]

  • Tim Burton+The Killers=Perfection

  • the cute asian woman is Miho from Sin City

  • i love burtttton

  • Burton is a genius!! xD Brilliant guy, nothing more to say! ^_^

  • SuPeR !!

  • The lead singer in this video sure bears a very strong resemblance to Burton's co-hort, the ever-fabulous-in-every-way Johnny Depp!

  • im confused so is that video real?

  • WHAT?

  • no. this is a music video.

  • well i knew that i just needed to know whether there was movie called bones cause the title confused me

  • ok...

  • pretty cool video!!! burton are a genious! *.*

    ;D

  • tim burton video featuring a stanley kubrick film....nice

  • TIM BURTON ROCKS ! ! ! ! ! ! Thankies for the upload. <3

  • I like how Burton leaves his traditional style to fit the tone of this song. I also like how it is not over done.

  • Шо серете бе добар е спото...

  • It's a great song, and I love Tim Burton, but the video itself wasn't anything special. It wasn't a bad video, but the whole "taking off your skin" visual was obvious and has been done many times before.

  • For a music video...not bad.

For a Tim Burton music video...not good.

  • What is the name of the movie they took the skeleton clips from?? I remember this being one of my favorite movies as a kid but I could never rent it because I didn't remember the name. ..something about a golden fleece??

  • I looks like Army of Darkness in my opinion. I dunno about a golden fleece. If not, Army of Darkness is a really good movie, rent that.

  • Jason and the Argonauts (1963 film)

  • Its from Jason And The Argonauts made in the 60s i think, its one of my fav movies! i seriously recoemend it, full of old stopmotion it roocks!
