I never believed that there had ever been a true planetary alignment, based on the fact that each planet has a different orbital tract , and only an idiot would believe that our 9 planets combined gravity could ever pose a threat to our sun. But what about a massive solar flare? Could there be one so large as to burn away our atmosphere?

the alignment would not rip it apart, the only thing that might happen is the sun would absorb particles on one end and expel them out of the other causing a massive cme, one that may require the sun to replenish it's lost mass, some believe mercury is in danger of being consumed by the sun, a decent theory i think. At any rate the suns activity is way waaaaay up over the past few years. we are seeing temperature rises on the other planets as well. We may be in for some nasty stuff here.

It is not exactly true that no planets align on Dec 21, 2012, as Venus aligns with Saturn, as seen from the sun. on that day; and Mercury is just two days from having conjoined both of those then. Dec 19th, Mercury conjoins Venus and Sat as seen from the sun.
As seen from the earthy, Venus and Jupiter stand directly opposite to one another on Dec 21, with Mercury being 8 degrees from Venus. Not that will cause any disasters.
Note however, that only gravity is considered, not electro-mag forces

It's not the planetary alignment.. that's a myth made up by the white man. It's the Galatic alignment which occurs every 26,000 years and was used by the Maya to end the long count, which is on 2012. They never said it was the end of the world but rather, "the end of time as mankind knows it". During that time Earth will be passing through the dark rift. Which in many ancient civilizations is the entrance to hell. As we near that point things will get worse but will not be the end of mankind.

the alignment would not rip it apart, the only thing that might happen is the sun would absorb particles on one end and expel them out of the other causing a massive cme, one that may require the sun to replenish it's lost mass, some believe mercury is in danger of being consumed by the sun, a decent theory i think. At any rate the suns activity is way waaaaay up over the past few years. we are seeing temperature rises on the other planets as well. We may be in for some nasty stuff here.

It is not exactly true that no planets align on Dec 21, 2012, as Venus aligns with Saturn, as seen from the sun. on that day; and Mercury is just two days from having conjoined both of those then. Dec 19th, Mercury conjoins Venus and Sat as seen from the sun.
As seen from the earthy, Venus and Jupiter stand directly opposite to one another on Dec 21, with Mercury being 8 degrees from Venus. Not that will cause any disasters.
Note however, that only gravity is considered, not electro-mag forces

What people are claiming is the truth, which is....The Sun, Earth and Moon will align as it does EVERY winter Solstice. Difference with 2012 is the alignment happens in the Rift or Centre of the Solar System, which ONLY happens EVERY 26.800 years.

It's not the planetary alignment.. that's a myth made up by the white man. It's the Galatic alignment which occurs every 26,000 years and was used by the Maya to end the long count, which is on 2012. They never said it was the end of the world but rather, "the end of time as mankind knows it". During that time Earth will be passing through the dark rift.
