  • i work in a cement factory in Aberthaw, next door to the coal fired power station. this place takes in 13000 tonnes a day when its busy. where does it come from?? opencast mines thats where! If it shut, where would you people get your power from?? not from the stupid wind farms. you people need to get a life!

  • Can I just ask you a question, do you have electricity in your home then? Do me a favour and go and moan about somthing you actually know what you are talking about. I couldnt here anything but road noise from the road where you were filming from. You people are just good for nothing lazy bastards who havnt got nothing better to with your time. Get a life people and let a honest man earn a living.

  • you didnt want st meryn meat you dont want this land reclamation scheme it is now the 4th of january2010 we are in the grip of a cold spell have the courage right now to switch off your lights and your heating if you dislike the way the coal is being used to keep you and the rest of the professional moaners comfortable, get a life merthyr has got enough of a bad name without you idiots adding to it.

  • Well to be honest I think they should stop complaining, Coal is the Future in my mind, they have got CCS technology now that captures the CO2, things look bright, this has been installed at Longgannet power station in Airshire Scotland. They ought to be glad the coal is being moved by rail and not road, I am a big railway man, and am going to start training to become a driver in 2 and a half years time. If we wont to solve Global warming, use the railways and burn coal in a clean way COAL RULES

  • The only problem with that opencast in Merthyr it brings work to Merthyr and you lot dont like working. And another thing you cant here nothing from the opencast but the dual carriage way right be hind your houses. If you dont like opencast switch your lights and heating off because with-out coal you wouldnt have electricity.

  • This video was filmed on top of a former opencast. This site is only the end of the East Merthyr reclemation sheme.

  • I can`t belive your moaning about the noise when thats all I can hear is road noise.

    Total rubbish.

  • He lives next to a dual carriageway and complains about the "noise" from the machines? Get a life mate, the land looked like a bombsite, burned out cars, fly tipping etc. Put up and shut up, look at the money Millers are bringing to the local economy as a whole.

  • I can hear a droning noise! But its not the machines.

  • very interesting,very, i wonder?

  • i do live near the site. only 1 mile away, and i cant hear anything. and it is very good for the town. look how many well paid jobs its bringing!

  • plmoaning about thisenty noise from the road traffic dont hear them

  • TERRIBLE NOISE, its driving me crazy. try living near to it before u say how good it is for the town.

  • Comment removed

  • Unfortunatly politics is allways corrupt and no matter how mutch you protest, the thing will still go ahead. Aas for all the noise and pollution, the site must be poorly managed if all thats happening. they should be penalised and start dishing out compensation. The construction industry bang on about site safety. where is it now?

  • at the end of the day this scheme will never stop , so why not suport local employment and make sure local people have jobs for the next feww years

  • I agree, the site should be closed and the entire site be covered in wind turbines. They won't complain about that. My arse.

  • This protest by Terry Evans is about one thing only MONEY compensation. As for the other two go to the MOON! The only noise that can be heared close to Terry Evans' Bungalow is the A4060 trunk road, so i suggest you move! How many other people from Mountain Hare will attend your march on saturday, ( Not Many) !!!

  • 500 metre buffer zone in England & Scotland, it certainly is about money... £500 million pounds worth of coal...

  • Look at Phase's 1 & 2 and the earlier opencasts over there all the newbuilds going on over there,Goatmill RD etc look how the land has been reclaimed there you cant tell me its not better. the ground which we are opencasting is riddled with old workings, which are very dangerous and some very close to the surface.

  • Prior to 1870 there was no legal right for any mines, levels to be registered as disused and therefore a lot of the old mines go unrecorded, and there exact locations is not Known! If you walk approx 100 metres above Roy the bogey's place and look over the fence (boundary Ffos-y -fran) there are two small fenced off area's these are shafts which have opened up. The old miner when they sealed a shaft would lay two old rails across the mouth of the shaft and then lay sheeting or timber across top

  • Clearly you are deaf ? Because its loud enough in the penydarren area ? Suggest you go for a hearing test ASAP.

  • i work on the site and i cant hear anything as radio 1 is to loud sorry hope this helps you

    xx

  • The protestors entered the site at 6am, they didn't damage any water containers at all, it was a peaceful protest... an amusing attempt to pin incompetence elsewhere on the protestors...

  • some of the protestors were on site the previous evening as can verifyed by the police. The container contained water treatment chemical approx 1250 gallons undiluted, which also can be verified by the police.

  • This cannot be verified by the police at all, it was nothing to do with the protestors at all, if it had been the police would be pressing charges, which they are not. It's just fabrication. The protestors have zero interest in vandalism, so take the rumours elsewhere.

  • The stupidity and recklessness of some of these protestors makes me shiver, not satisfied in climbing onto a Demag and onto the top of the processing plant, they also damaged five chemical containers causing them to discharge into the water treatment Lagoons with potentionaly dangerous consequences, to the local water courses, and wildlife. Are they real!
